8/08/2010 Police swarm TN home of Joe Overstreet

  • #141
I had never heard of synthetic marijuana until I moved to Louisville, KY. Down here they call it K2 and it's weird because they sell it at the local flea market. I heard that it was once legal here. My brother took a trip to Florida a few weeks ago and he told me that that's what they are into down there.
Maybe JO was trying to start his own K2 business? Who know with these characters!
They had been selling the K2 at flea markets in Florida. They were talking about making it illegal; some users were complaining about heart palpitations and hallucinations. It was on the news a while back; it is a new drug that has been making its way around the country.

From Joe's affadavit:

On 08/08/10 Officer Neil Wolfe responded to 1529 Antioch Pike after recieving information that Joseph Overstreet and
other suspects responsible for an overnight aggravated assault and attempted robbery were there. Officer Wolfe arrived
and found Joseph Overstreet in the front yard and detained him for questioning. Other suspects hid in the house and or
fled the scene. Officer Wolfe recieved information that the suspects in earlier incident were using a stolen silver Chrysler
300 and a vehicle matching that description was parked in the back yard with an improper license plate. A check of the
VIN showed the vehicle was reported stolen. While verifying the VIN Officer Wolfe observed marijuana plants growing
near the rear door of the residence. South CSU detectives responded to the scene and obtained a search warrant. Five
marijuana plants were taken from the back yard. A metal tin containing marijuana pipe, marijuana grinder, and a ficticuos
marrijuana license was found in the living room of the residence. The defendants drivers license was found inside the
metal tin with the paraphernalia. This occurred in Davidson County

Same deal, they're going to put him behind a set of bars. See if he speaks the truth like everyone else. I almost need a flow chart to keep track of the clan. Yeah I know he's out today, lets see what tomorrow brings. <g>

Now, LE can say whatever they want, as we have learned--but this reads like someone was pizzed after an altercation with Joe and others and there was a car theft overnight. I am not hopeful this is Haleigh related at all. JMO

hmm maybe tommy ratted him out to get a lower sentence?

I'm thinking that this just might be a part of Ron's plea deal. Maybe Joe was running drugs from TN to Fl and was a supplier to Ron and the gang........

This family is helping confirm a theory of mine: some people are just born with "stupid" tattoo'd on their DNA.

  • #150
Okay, so I read the title and only saw "8/08/2010 Police swarm TN home" and thought that it was Ronald's mom's house (TN) - LOL I need more sleep. Gheeez.

What is with all the drugs? Good grief.

Same here... I about tripped over my virtual self getting to the thread.

possibly more charges to come re: "after receiving information that Joseph Overstreet and suspects responsible for an overnight aggravated assault and attempted robbery were there."
Obviously he is "under suspicion" for crimes committed, and this one is VIOLENT - JMO

is this seriously how some families live?

I'm trying to wrap my mind around so many members of a family (extended and married included) doing time like it's a way of life

back in the day (haha I feel old now), it was huge if someone in the family went to jail - families would sit around campfires and tell the story about when Uncle **** got arrested

Joe seems to be the brightest bulb in the box though - he lawyered up right away & hasn't said a word, except one denial, since

Could be.

I've always thought that the real reason for JO's visit to visit the Croslins was more than just a vacation, it was to conduct some kind of criminal activity, such as dealing drugs or guns.

During that time, JO and Ron had a falling out - possibly because he supplied RC with drugs and was to get a gun in return, and Ron double-crossed him.

I'm not suggesting that JO took Haleigh in revenge, but their "business activities" would explain some of the fights etc prior to Haleigh's disappearance, and then some of the comments from Misty about him looking for a gun, and also the odd responses from Ron, denying any friction with Joe.

Also, re: JOs "vacation in Satsuma" - his g/f was driving a cadillac. Not saying all that drive this type of car are into drugs, but who at that age could afford one?

  • #155
Wasn't Joe on probation when he was in Satsuma and why he had an attorney? Trying to think back---also, if they had found guns at his residence, wouldn't he be charged for a probation violation for those, the pot etc? Can't keep this straight anymore?

  • #156
Wow! Thanks for the info! I would love to believe this has a major connection to Haleigh, but I believe another relative wasn't bright enough to know that they are being watched. I'm sure that JO has a reputation in Tn as a criminal and he probably runs with others that have a criminal past; so the officers know who to watch.
I am so hoping that with Ron and Misty's trials coming up that they throw them under the jail; because I don't feel like they are going to talk. They know that what ever happened to Haleigh would bring alot more bigger charges than drug dealing.
I keep praying that one will have enough guts to tell the truth.
Still praying for Justice for Haleigh!!
after watching that news footage, you can tell that Joe most definantly does have a reputation, & it's because of Haleigh. Also, those SWAT cars were surrounding that house for a reason, & I bet he's gonna be under constant scrutinty, now. But like the rest of this bunch, he has nothing to blame but his own stupidity. Does he really think he can just blend in with the scenery, while he committs crimes?

It was well over a year ago so he is probably off probation. If he was still on, he would have been held on a violation, likely without bond. JMO.

I am trying to look up his previous charges, which I believe where felony for car theft? If so, had LE found any weapons at his residence I don't think they would have bonded him out as isn't illegal for a convicted felon to have a firearm?

  • #159
Well, I disagree because I think everyone involved in what happened to Haleigh, are behind bars, and theres a reason Joe is not, and that probably has to do with Misty and Tommys lie tests where they implicate him, and fail. I believe if they were truthful and it came back as positive and truthful about their tale about Joe, he would have been in Putnam faster than a monkey on a banana.
I'm not so sure about that, because realistically, how much did LE get from those tests? Tommy claimed to have only been asked one question. I don't really believe that, but he could be telling the truth. We've been hearing for awhile, that LE is pretty confident in their knowledge of what happened, so where is the murder charge? I don't think they got much from those tests, which is a real shame, because considering the number that Misty took, I would think no stone would be left unturned. But if they're only asking one question at a time, then that explains the hold up. & yes, I'm being a little facetious, but you get my point.

Is marijuana legal in TN?

Theory, what if Haleigh was taken to Mexico in a truck? Traded for drugs? Maybe that is why LE said "ONE" of the "Several" POI's will be a shock to the public.

Both parents are long haul truckers, and could not be reached for comment. Hollars tells me they were close to crossing the Texas Mexico border when their boy was busted. “They won’t be very happy,” Hollars told me.

Florida investigators working on Haleigh Cummings were also scrambling for details. ”I got a call from one detective asking if I knew what was going on up there,” she went on.
