Tide is receding in Hilo bay, water is changing color. First waves expected to be 2 meters high. Hilo is a ghost town

Hilo, on the big island, is the most south eastern of all the hawaiian islands and acts like a catchers mitt for incoming tsunami's from South America.

first wave just hit New Zealand, nothing in Hawaii yet

Just said on CNN getting reports of a tsunami occurred at small island in New Zealand at the 12hr mark and Hawaii waves are at a 15 hour mark.. So could hit Hawaii later.

Still reporting water discoloration in the bay and water receding. This was supposed to hit like 20 minutes ago. But they keep saying the first wave is not necessarily the worst.

we are hearing local reports in my area of Dana Point right now. i was just down at the harbor and the water is dirty gray
