Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #209

So no one saw Allen who was on the trail at the same time as those witnesses, yet these people all saw BG, who was dressed exactly like Richard Allen?

Make it make sense.
But he wasn't dressed like BG. In all this testimony he has never said he was wearing a Blue jacket.
We've seen 3 different versions of what he thought he was wearing but none of those were Blue.

Seems the trial Judge should have allowed media / audio / video recordings then because we have a discrepancy in the media as to what was said by the defendant vs what was testified to by Dr. Wala. I'll wait for the official transcript should one ever become available however, until then, I do not believe that RA said he saw a "white van" - I believe Dr. Wala said that he said he saw a van. moo

A discrepancy on our end is irrelevant; it only matters to the jury.

You believe she perjured herself?

Andrea Burkhart gives an in-depth account of Dr. Wala’s testimony. I didn’t hear that either. I have listened twice but it’s so long it’s possible I missed something.

I was discussing this case with a friend today who was adamant that RA was not BG. I wanted to check in and see where they were at after two days of what is in my opinion damning evidence.

They couldn't refute any of it...but insisted it still didn't mean that RA was BG. At this point I just suspect that they've invested too much in the RA is not BG narrative to admit the (IMO) truth. I full believe (again, JMO) that we are beyond reasonable doubt now.

I just don't see how the defense mounts any defense. I think we are at the 'pound the table' stage of this trial.

Well Harshman said he was the phone guy and since he listened to enough phone calls he knows that it is RA’s voice because I guess he’s an expert on that, and the judge allowed it. Mind you there are many people in RA’s life who have listened and talked to RA much more than Harshman and none of them have said it was his voice on the Snapchat video.

And now it seems RA can’t even present a defense that isn’t necessarily a contradiction to state witnesses

This whole thing is gross even if he is, and I do think he’s guilty, MOO

Is Harshman the one that didn't keep any of those phone calls in order so when he was on the stand he wasn't keeping up with the Defense and dates?

As for recognising BG's voice on the video as being Richard Allen's - 2 secs isn't enough to go by I reckon, also, with the enhancements made I feel it would have altered it in someway trying to make it louder and clearer. Not intentional, but likely.

It needed to be enhanced though as it could hardly be heard and that video had to be stabilised as it was all over the place.

Even with the enhancements made the audio still wasn't the best.

So, as for recognising that BG's voice is the same as Richard Allen's - I just don't know.

Not with all the technical enhancements made.

He was unsure if he wore the black one or the blue one. I can think of a reason he'd equivocate here...

"Allen told the investigators he was wearing blue jeans and a Carhartt jacket. He said he had a black and blue jacket at the time, but he believed he wore the black one. Liggett asked if he was wearing a hat, Allen said that if he was, it would have been the "skull cap" he kept in his jacket pockets. Allen said he was wearing tennis shoes or military-style boots."

I would assume if the Jury was shown a 47 second video then that is what was extensively used in review as well. This is just the first time the full length video has been made quasi public (ie to the room) and I highly doubt they had him working with the down the hill public video.

Why would they call for speculation? They can't prove they saw RA with photos or video or the state would have introduced those into evidence imo.
Let's assume that bridge guy was not seen by any witnesses on the trails heading towards the bridge. How does that play out regarding guilt or innocence?

After a visit with his mom, Richard Allen went to the Monon bridge trail on the afternoon of Feb 13. A woman saw Richard Allen standing on or near the first platform looking at fish. Richard Allen admits that he was there looking at fish. That happened before the girls were abducted, and after the adult female witness returned to her car. That witness saw Libby and Abby walking towards the bridge.

So far:
  • an adult female witness places Richard Allen and the murdered girls on or near the Monon bridge at the time of the kidnapping.
  • Richard Allen confirms that he was on or near the first platform of Monon bridge at that time looking at his phone and fish
  • Libby, Abby, and Richard Allen (by admission, with witness) are on or near the bridge at the time that they are kidnapped.
Does it really matter whether the other witnesses saw bridge guy on the trails heading toward the bridge?

Just have to ask “So which pocket was your skull cap in, the blue or black jacket?” ;)

Many of the confessions can be worked around it sounds like. It will be a tall task, but not impossible for the defense, IMO.
Maybe that’s what they should be focussed on then instead of insisting on SODDI without proof.

They have a duty to defend Richard Allen.

IMO they are ill prepared and do nothing but regurgitate their fairy tales.

I personally believe Richard Allen is guilty but…he deserves better representation. He deserves better.

He was given the opportunity to kick them to the curb but chose to stay the course with his less than stellar lawyers.

At this point, they all deserve each other.

They created chaos and fanciful tales. They named names and called out others as the murderers. They did that! No one else. They did it!

IMO they should be held in contempt for the CS picture leak, breaking the gag order and their conduct.

IMO they should be disbarred.

IMO, JMO, IMHO, and as always ALL THAT JAZZ

It really is quite gross. Andrea Burkhart is quoted in my tagline line - the full quote was "today was really marked by obstruction." I hope the world is watching - this is not justice for anyone in my view. moooo.

And one witness SC who saw a man in a tan jacket and white wash pants.... (search my username for links - i've posted several in this thread to this effect).
