What an incredible gesture from the family to share Kamilles service with the world,so brave in the face of such tragedy

Watch the defense state that the perpetrators won't get a fair trial in Birmingham due to the publicity of the search and funeral of "Cupcake".

Well, they'd probably be right. But they'd be hard pressed to find anywhere in the US where publicity isn't an issue.

Bolded and underlined by me. How wholesome is that sentence..... they call in the tips and choose not to claim the rewards, showing they care only about helping to solve the case, not the money. These are the types of people we need more of MOO

I think most people using the Crime Stoppers lines are in the (at least) 80% of good people in this world. (If subscribing to the 80/20 rule.)

In Australia we don't offer rewards for Crime Stoppers tips, yet around 3,000 people gave tips to Crime Stoppers in the case of our missing 3 year old William Tyrrell.

My belief is that psychopaths are born. There is peer reviewed research that supports this. But it is unpopular, as it has implications regarding adoption, and further issues regarding rehabilitation and incarceration. Also, if we can identify an "evil seed" gene, would those people be considered "bad" and unredeemable?
Most Psychologists and researchers agree that it is a combination of genetics and environment.
A person can be born with a genetic disposition, but their environment and experiences can affect whether or not they will develop a disorder.

I would not put anything past a sorry defense attorney. How can you defend someone like that. I just don't understand. I guess I am nieve, but I want to believe in humanity.

Well, naive or not, someone has to defend these people to ensure there is a fair trial so that justice can been served.

It doesn't necessarily mean that defense lawyers are inhumane.

Without them there would be no justice.

The trumpet player at funeral service was absolutely amazing.

They will likely file a motion for change of venue which is fine. That way there are no grounds for appeals, moo.

Social media images for what loved ones opted to call a celebration of life rather than a funeral, showed New Beginning Christian Ministry covered in flowers, including a giant wreath in the shape of the snack she is nicknamed after.

Pastor Sylvester Wilson welcomed everyone to the church’s 700-seat sanctuary, and its fellowship hall, which acted as an overflow auditorium, as Kamille’s picture was splashed above a reading of the Psalm 23 Holy Bible chapter and ‘Rest In Heaven Cupcake’ written across a sash.

[...]

A community member who drove the search for Kamille told church-goers how the girl’s devastated mother messaged him Friday around 2am, unable to sleep as she thought through what she did wrong.

‘When everybody is sleeping at night, it’ll be the hardest part of my day, not holding her and thinking about what I could’ve changed to keep this from happening,’ the speaker said about the exchange.

A harpist played music as her casket was rolled inside where the stage was covered in flowers,

Look up Jeremy Strohmeyer. He is actually on this website.
Has he spoken about this case?I realize that some believe certain mental health disorders are solely genetic, I just don't agree. I don't believe people are just born to be psychopaths. It's much more complex than that.

I believe environment plays a role in addition to brain chemistry. I also believe that environment can be a factor without having a chemical imbalance.

its so heart warming to be reminded of the good we do have in the world after becoming so enveloped in cases like this isn’t it?

A somber day for KM's family, and the community of Birmingham.

And I'm already struggling over swift justice for this baby girl. :(

More specifically, I'll start with PS.

Reportedly -- this 39 year old man has NO criminal history in AL or FL with exception of a misdemeanor marijuana possession from 15 years ago! (Another marijuana charge years later was dismissed).

Although PS and DB were sought for questioning in the abduction of this precious child, after holding PS for 48 hours, the only criminal charges that could be filed against him were -4- charges of possession of obscene material depicting child under age 17, and -3- charges possession/intent to disseminate.

It was a gift that DB could be held for prior felony probation.

Checking the actual legal definitions for these 🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges in the Alabama Criminal Code, possession of obscene material (i.e., child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬) is treated as a Class C felony in Jefferson County, while possession with intent to disseminate is considered a Class B felony.

Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is broadly defined in Jefferson County.

While the laws prohibit possession, creation, and other actions involving obscene materials that contain a picture or any representation of a minor under the age of 17 exposing nude breasts or genitals or engaging in any act of sadomasochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, [or] masturbation,
Ala. Code §13A-12-190 defines obscene matter as that which lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

Under these broad definitions, a photo of a baby in a bathtub could arguably be treated as child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, depending on the context and other related elements.

Ala. Code §13A-12-192 – Possession with intent to disseminate

The law presumes an individual has the intent to disseminate the material if three or more copies of the same picture are found in that individual’s possession.

Referencing prior defense cases for similar charges, this could simply be one 17 year old (who defendant didn't know was 17) sending defendant 3 photos of her exposed breasts (same picture doesn't have to mean identical).

In other words - essentially any sexting photo by a 17 year old or younger today would likely result in these criminal, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges.

I'm certainly not dismissing the serious offense of possessing obscene material of children and teens, but if after a 48 hour hold, this is the best that Jefferson County detectives could charge PS, I won't be surprised if most if not all of these charges are dismissed against PS. Also, it's already been confirmed by LE that none of these photos were of KM.

I also struggle to understand why intelligent, family and friends would be so quick to spring PS from jail-- and with substantial financial risk to themselves.

It does not follow how the accused could go undetected all these years because I don't believe this could possibly be his first act.

He can't just be lucky! Why has he been protected all these years? Was he possibly an informant?

I want to know! And more important, is the right man in custody?

Yes. He was adopted. His biological Mother is mentally ill, in an asylum, chronic drug addiction. His biological father was a guard, who raped his mother.

It is interesting that his adoptive parents wanted to sue the State of California for not telling them about his background.

A single gene has been linked with being a psychopath — and it’s very controversial

I believe that psychopaths are born, with a predisposition for psychopathy. It is on a continuum. MO .
I thought you meant he was a member here and was a psychologist!
Far from it, I guess.
Yes, I vaguely remember that case.
And yes, Psychologist do believe there is a genetic disposition but that doesn't necessarily mean they will develop the disorder.

Anyway, we don't know enough about either one of the suspects to determine whether or not mental health issues played a role and just like that case I doubt it will have any affect on the charges or the sentencing.

As we know, it is never an excuse for such despicable behavior as murdering a young innocent child who never got to live past the age of three.

Do we know yet what Brown was charged with? Are the charges for each the same?
