Out of curiosity does anyone know if Alec Baldwin ever took a basic gun safety class? I would think a producer making a movie with firearms would want all his actors to have a basic idea of what gun safety was about.
IIRC, in an early linked article AB bragged about his 'acting chops' including ability to ride a horse, a motorcycle, and handle guns.
I also recall a text/email exchange between The Armorer HG & the Producer to whom she reported, stating that AB had not shown up for required firearms review with her (HG)
three separate times.
Yet
she delivered a working firearm to a set for AB, for blocking/walk-thru, when protocol calls for an inoperative blue gun.
Delivered a non-protocol working revolver, non-protocol loaded, to a set the called for the inoperative blue gun
, to an actor who had not met safety protocols.
Now would I, at that age, have had the backbone to deliver only the inoperative blue gun that the scene called for?
Or -- even more backbone -- "Mr. Baldwin (producer, part of the reason I have this very job & this very paycheck,) once you complete the industry-required firearms safety review, I"ll be happy to deliver operating firearms to sets where those are appropriate."
Accompanied by the Assistant Director, this should have been effective.
But AFAIK this didn't happen.
So the on-staff Armorer brought the non-protocol loaded, operating firearm not needed for that scene to the AD, and that AD handed over the loaded, working firearm & Alec Baldwin pointed that loaded working firearm directly at Halyna Hutchins & her death is the result.
That's
way too many mistakes imho.
