IIRC, this tragedy occured during a walk-through/blocking.

Protocol -- inoperative blue gun AFAIK:

So -- why did the armorer bring a working firearm? Why did the AD pass the working firearm to the actor? Why did the actor point the working firearm directly at a human?

And, why oh why was there live ammo on the set???

Wonder if we'll ever have answers....

I believe it's been stated that the armourer was not notified of the walk rehearsal and was not present for the event and the firearm was handed to Baldwin by the assistant director, who declared it cold.

Finger pointing---- no one wants to take responsibility for this travesty-horror

Those promises have gone on since Brandon Lee died and nothing seems to change.

Where the live ammo came from, and how it got loaded into the gun are the biggest questions that I have personally. But I don't think we are going to get satisfactory answers to either of those questions.

Am I understanding this correctly? The husband of the lady killed on the set of Rush has been given money and now he's an executive producer on Rush? And a settlement for her son is sealed?

Out of curiosity does anyone know if Alec Baldwin ever took a basic gun safety class? I would think a producer making a movie with firearms would want all his actors to have a basic idea of what gun safety was about.

"WHERE is the Rust justice?

Exactly one year after Alec Baldwin fatally shot Halyna Hutchins, there are STILL no charges - or even a sheriff's report - as filming is set to resume..."

IIRC, in an early linked article AB bragged about his 'acting chops' including ability to ride a horse, a motorcycle, and handle guns.

I also recall a text/email exchange between The Armorer HG & the Producer to whom she reported, stating that AB had not shown up for required firearms review with her (HG) three separate times.

Yet she delivered a working firearm to a set for AB, for blocking/walk-thru, when protocol calls for an inoperative blue gun.

Delivered a non-protocol working revolver, non-protocol loaded, to a set the called for the inoperative blue gun, to an actor who had not met safety protocols.

Now would I, at that age, have had the backbone to deliver only the inoperative blue gun that the scene called for?

Or -- even more backbone -- "Mr. Baldwin (producer, part of the reason I have this very job & this very paycheck,) once you complete the industry-required firearms safety review, I"ll be happy to deliver operating firearms to sets where those are appropriate."

Accompanied by the Assistant Director, this should have been effective.

But AFAIK this didn't happen.

So the on-staff Armorer brought the non-protocol loaded, operating firearm not needed for that scene to the AD, and that AD handed over the loaded, working firearm & Alec Baldwin pointed that loaded working firearm directly at Halyna Hutchins & her death is the result.

That's way too many mistakes imho.

it was extremely distasteful.

not even a "thinking of halyna's family today".

He posted it like it was just an 'on this day..' social media memory.

I don't understand why an investigation would take a year.

Because they've hit nothing but dead ends? I'm pretty pessimistic that we'll ever find out what actually happened.

I am guessing they have found a bunch of people all pointing their fingers at each other. People might not like it, but we might not see any criminal charges.

A film industry worker that I spoke to (camera operator) implied that actors are not required to take fire arms safety classes.

He did, however, state very strongly that all actors, directors etc are expected to follow fire arms protocols:

- Nobody other than the armorer issues a weapon to anybody. Nobody besides the armorer makes any kind of declaration about it.

- The armorer checks the weapon upon issuing it. The receiving actor then re-checks the weapon. If the receiving actor is not familiar with weapons, or is personally opposed to handling them more than absolutely necessary, they are assigned a "shooting partner". The actor's shooting partner then re checks the weapon for the actor.

He also stated that well run sets take the protocols to the extent that rubber guns are still weapons, are issued by the armorer, checked and rechecked.

I keep trying to understand why it was so important to have the one person responsible for set firearms unavailable at that particular time.

My husband is working on a set right now with firearms. He said everyone is VERY cautious, much more than he has previously noted. He keeps hearing, "does anyone else want to check the firearm? Anyone?" I sincerely hope that this tragedy does make a difference in the industry!
