the guy that called me stated his name upfront....said he was calling about the search that took place with the Caylee Anthony case....said he was there with members of TES and the Defense team, and wanted to ask a few questions......

Mr. Miller says the number will be far greater than one hundred that were on the expansive Suburban Drive, but not in the exact area!

Remember, Brad ,and Linda Drane Burdick went through these records for days and thus the 32. I trust Linda was diligent!

"Right now, all we're doing is asking 'Were you there, and were you on Suburban Drive?' We'll follow up later," defense attorney Jose Baez said.


Tim Miller, the head of Texas EquuSearch, said the number of those who searched the long expanse of Suburban Drive will be far more than 100.

But Miller remains confident they have identified the 32 who were closest to the swampy area where Caylee's remains were located but could not get in because it was underwater.

"I don't anticipate they're going to come up with anymore. I think we've done our homework. We could inflate some numbers, but at the end of the day, we'll see what happens and see what the judge rules on," Miller said.

Defense witness Laura Buchanan signed an affidavit a year after Caylee was found there claiming she searched the area months earlier, on September 3, with her team of volunteers and Caylee was not there.

But WFTV found Texas EquuSearch documents that show Buchanan and her team were at Blanchard Park that day and even that they found bones there.

Volunteer Lela Radojevic, who was on Buchanan's team that day, says they were at Blanchard Park from morning until late afternoon.

"You were all together all day at Blanchard Park and nobody ever, with you, went to Suburban Drive that day?" WFTV reporter Kathi Belich asked Radojevic.

"No," she said.

Doing a quick drive by here. Seems that if JB found 100 people or more that claim they were on Suburban Dr. and the SAO found possibly 32, could that mean that 68+ folks are looking for their 15 minutes of fame .... naw, just two ... JB and Cheney. Won't happen.

I know that the smart, caring , kind people here do not believe that at least some of the 68+ people are looking for 15 minutes of fame. Could there be some out there? Sure. They would have to be nuttier than a fruitcake.

This may be a silly question...but do you think any of those who answered said, "You can take your call and shove it!"?

It's not silly and my answer is YES! This is America and we are all protected by the Fifth Amendment - The Right to Remain Silent. The same right Casey is cowering under now. None of the searchers have to say a single word to the scheme team. The defense has no more legal power to make you answer a question than a phone solicitor asking you to donate money. You can simply hang up or as some posters suggested, ask for their name/number then ask them to send something in writing. Although I didn't search because I live to too far away, if I had received a phone call from them they would have gotten an earful. For starters, I'd say 'I'll talk when Casey talks and she actually tells the truth'.

To all the searchers on this forum, I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for searching for Caylee. You did a wonderful thing and we are all very proud of you. Don't let the bullies get you down. If you want to talk to them that's fine but if you don't that's fine too, it's your right. They can't make you answer one single question. You can also tell them exactly how you feel....while you were searching for their client's precious child, she was at home playing on the computer, having sleep overs, watching movies, enjoying her favorite meals...bacially doing everything but help find her child.

I thought 5th amendment applied to the accused (felony) and not to the people (potential witnesses) being questioned in an active investigation? Am I wrong?

Although, it IS my understanding that there is no legal duty to answer questions I do wonder how/if refusal to cooperate could be interpreted as interfering/hindering in an investigation. (Cops write reports for this all the time and the State levies charges for same)

I was and am being sarcastic towards JB and Cheney in that they were the only two who would and have. Searching for searchers .... coming up blank. Seems to be an on-going theme in their defense work. Blank, blank, blank is all they find at every turn they make.

Actually I don't believe anyone with morals and ethics would be looking for 15 minutes of fame who searched for Caylee. I have the utmost respect for you and all the other good, kindhearted searchers who gave up their time and emotions to search for Caylee. Tim for all he has done and will continue to do in the future. Yo'll are truly heros.

I appreciate your concern, especially after we have seen what happened to Kronk as well as a few others, and absolutely no disrespect to you, but to avoid creating any paranoia on the part of these TES searchers, I think it is important to take a deep breath and again review the steps of this Review Order (discussed previously in this thread).

Simply being called during this review is not automatically putting any of these volunteers in the position of being a possible witness in the murder trial. It was merely Step One of several steps in the defense attempt at trying to see if they can find a needle in a haystack.

The defense had a precisely worded SCRIPT that they were ORDERED to follow when making these initial calls in regards to whether or not they had searched ON Suburban Drive.....they were NOT allowed to ask followup questions. (see previous posts in this thread). That will come later IF and only IF JUDGE PERRY AUTHORIZES IT ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS!I am afraid that creating unwarranted paranoia is going to be playing right into the "media game" the defense is trying to create.

I would like to add, I don't see any reason to suggest anyone of these TES searchers consult an attorney. They already have one of the best - Mark Nejame. Mark Nejame represents TES and has fought diligently to protect the privacy/rights of these searchers. It is extremely premature to think that just because someone received a scripted call they would need any other representation.

This can't even be compared to Kronk who searched completely on his own and was not a member of Texas Equusearch in any capacity.

However if my name were in that box and I was called and told that due to my responses I could be spoken to further I would have an attorney on speed dial. I do not trust anything Mason and Baez have their hands in and I have seen too many innocent people involved, even on the perimeter, have their lives turned upside down. JMO

I do appreciate your concern because I share your feelings about Mason and Baez. However, I'm gonna try to put a few of your concerns to rest.

1) NO ONE can call any of these searchers a second time UNTIL AND UNLESS Judge Perry issues an Order permitting the defense to investigate further. The defense will have to take each doc and their notes in re. each and every one of these "scores" rolleyes of searchers they CLAIM to have found to have searched the area in CLOSE PROXIMITY where Caylee's remains were found to Judge Perry. He will review and decide IF HE IS GOING TO ALLOW ANY FURTHER CONTACT. That, in itself, is a long shot.

2) At this point, these searchers ALREADY have representation - Mark Nejame. If there were to ever come a time when Mr. Nejame felt they needed separate representation he would be legally obligated to advise them of such. Until then, they can't get much better.

eta: It is VIP to note that simply the words "Suburban Drive" DOES NOT equal "close proximity". Judge Perry will define "close proximity", but I can guarantee you it will not be as broad as "Suburban Drive", otherwise every person/car that has stopped to lurk would be at risk of having their privacy being invaded.

I appreciate your concern as well. I am not sure Mr. Nejame represents any of the 4,000 searchers. However, I will not debate the issue. I can only say what I would do. After all, it still all comes down to JMO for all of us.
