All Things Britney Spears Part 4

I saw that Dr. Drew guy commenting on one of the stations today that if Britney isn't hospitalized in the next 2-4 weeks she will be dead. He said even then, after 5 months of evaluation and a year of in-patient living, her chances are only 50/50. Is he serious, that's pretty hopeless! Shouldn't people have hope? That can't be right can it? He must mean if she doesn't continue therapy life long and medication. Anyone else see his comments? It was alarming to me.

That's 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬........ my other half has Bi-Polar and he did not start meds until he was 30 because he never realised he had it until then and he has never graced the threshold of a mental ward or hospital. If for instance there were out of control hypermanic episodes or psycosis involved then she probably would need a more extensive health plan involving councelling ect.

My DH and DS are both diagnosed AD/HD and both are medicated for it...DH's Mom is bi-polar with schizophrenic/psychosis..sooo when we were testing DS for ad/hd, they also tested for bi-polar/schizo, because it is hereditary..thank God it turned out to be AD/HD..but I do have to take care of things for MIL and I have tried to learn as much as I can about it her mental illnesses..
If if if if Britney is bi-polar, which it has been stated that she has been diagnosed..then the doctor that put her on Adderall has failed her completely...stimulants are poison to someone that is bi-polar...if this is the case then it explains alot...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't tell you how much I agree with you! A Stimulant is one of the worst medications you can put someone with Bipolar disorder on.. the other one being only an anti-depressent! These are the biggest dangers when a person has Bipolar disorder that remains misdiagnosed.

What is even worse is that they are now finding that some of the kids that used to be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD were actually mis-diagnosed because back then they did not diagnose Bipolar in children as they do now so they have been on the wrong meds all along.

Although Brit's recent behavior points toward Bipolar I am not yet convinced that is the case. A Bipolar mania is neurological yet she seems to have dramatic physical symptoms not associated with mania such as dialated pupils, staggering, slurring of words, rapid weight gain then weight loss, sudden onset of acne.. not to mention that the girl has yet to "crash".

Trust me, ya'll, a mania does not last forever, if it did, those of us with Bipolar would never seek help! By now this girl would have come down, fallen into a depression deeper than most people could imagine. She'd have stopped showering and doing her hair and nails, she'd stop going out at night, she would have disappeared from the public eye and would be holed up someplace (probably her mothers house) in her own private hell. With what she is going through in her personal life she probably would have attempted suicide by now.

I think she should be taken off the drugs (prescribed or not) and alcohol first to be certain she is getting a proper diagnosis! People are so quick to point at mental illness now'days and we are tossed on more and more drugs (presciptions) to "fix" us when sometimes that's whats causing the problems to begin with!

I have been on the same meds (different strengths) for about 10 years with the exception of the benzodiazepine, Klonopin. Yet until about 5 years ago when Klonopin was removed from my cocktail I remained unstable. Going off of the one medication made all the difference in the world! Benzodiazepines, in some cases can cause manic-like symptoms. So can Appetite suppressants, cold medicines, amphetamines, cocaine, stimulants.

I self medicated for many years and I'll tell ya something, Nyquil is a great medicine for a pill junkie to have in the house "in case of emergency". I'd do shots of it if I ran out of options... I can still feel the buzz it gave me, the tightness in the side of my jaw and everything.

So, again, although Brit may not have had any illegal drugs in her system, I am not convinced that she is not a actively using addict, therefore I also cannot be convinced she has Bipolar disorder.

Adderall and Ritalin are synthetic SPEED - they are used for ADD and ADHD. And I disagree that you cannot be bi-polar and ADD - my husband is both - and he very successfully takes both bi-polar meds AND Adderall. I know 3 people closely who are under Psychiatrist care and take BOTH an anti-depressant or mood stabilizer AND a stimulant for their diagnosed adult ADD.

And there are about 50 drugs for bi-polar now - lithium is rarely prescribed any more because so many people have bad reactions to it. Lithium has a LOT of side-effects that can be as hard to live with as the bi-polar. Many of the newer bi-polar meds are actually anti-seizure in nature (Depakote is one).

I have several people in my world who are medicated "bi-polar" - one who has a severe version and SHE does not fall into long depressions - she is very "high manic" though- her swings are almost ALL to the extreme UP side - she does not have the "down" side much at all. To her, even "normal" feels like a down though - she LOVES the mania and the energy and tends to run "up" even when properly medicated. Every bi-polar is different - it's not like a teeter-totter - sometimes one side or the other is dominant and the person rarely cycles to the other extreme - or just does so for short periods - sometimes 24 hours or less.

Britney appears to run to the manic side and the ADD drug is not helping her mania. She needs a SECOND DRUG to control some of the extreme mania. And SOMETIMES the mania gets WORSE with age - as a child she may have only had ADD and now has manifested a worsening mania or bi-polar disorder that began at puberty and has gotten worse with the birth of her kids and age.

A stimulant is NOT to make the ADD sufferer energetic, but to slow them DOWN so they can handle the ADD issues better. Properly prescribed, a stimulant makes ADD sufferers MORE CALM and FOCUSED...not manic. And Brit may have BOTH bi-polar manic and ADD.

My Opinion

Adderall and Ritalin are also sometimes used off label for appetite control. I know Brittany would have needed to loose some weight if she wanted to tour again. If you think about it more than likely she was not prescribed this by a psychiatrists, I doubt she would even seek the help of a psychiatrist. It was probably prescribed by a doctor that celebrities go to when they want to loose weight or get pain meds, Anna Nicole's doctor. Wasn't she in the hospital not to long ago and they said something like she had an asthma attack and reaction to her albuterol inhaler? The symptoms, increased heart rate, tachycardia and trouble breathing can be caused by asthma coupled with albuterol, but they can also be caused by Adderall and Ritalin. Yes, albuterol makes you feel like your heart is racing, I use it for my asthma.

No no no- I am not in any way saying a person cannot have both Bipolar and ADD/ADHD but the patient should always be stable on mood stabalizers first before use of stimulants are attempted. I'm sorry if I did not make clear what I was trying to say.

For people with ADD/ADHD, Stimulants are a wonderful drug class that help them focus and remain calm, I agree with you!! But- for a person who does not have ADD/ADHD, stimulants DO act as just that, a stimulant- that's why it is such a popular "abused" drug these days. http://www.webmd.com/news/19990101/ritalin-being-used-recreationally

What my concern about Britney is is this- I'm not so sure that the stimulant she takes is not causing her manic like symptoms. Perhaps the poor thing has been treated with the wrong medication.. perhaps she has been misdiagnosed! Or perhaps like so many others she takes it for these other reasons.

Controlled substances are not all that difficult to get an RX for (escpecially if one has lots of money) and it certainly isn't difficult to locate people who DO have an RX for them and sell them on the streets- I'm ashamed to say I used to do it myself and am now a convicted Felon.

The question that was raised about medicines for Bipolar disorder sounded to me as if the person was questioning FDA approved mood stabalizers for treatment of Bipolar disorder, that is why I gave the link I did. They do find, however, that Anti-convulsants have a mood stabalizing effect for people with Bipolar. I myself take an Anti-convulsant as my mood stabalizer that is not approved by the FDA for use in Bipolar.

Does it not makes sense that if a person has only one "pole" it would be considered Unipolar not Bipolar? Part of the requirement for a diagnosis of Bipolar is having the 2 poles- depression and mania.

Anyway, look, I'm not here to go back and forth about who knows more about Bipolar disorder, I wish like hell I knew nothing about it! My point in sharing what I do know about the medications used to treat it and the other chemicals one puts into their bodies that counter-act the meds meant to treat it is to point out that it's these other chemicals that can cause years more of misdiagnosis and uselessness of medications and often end in successful suicides.

If Britney has Bipolar disorder, and if she is mis-using prescription or over the counter medications and/or alcohol, a shrink can put her on all the Bipolar medicine they want to but until she is "clean" I assure you, she will NOT get well! It's like an addict quitting cocaine but still drinking alcohol on a daily basis- Or a food addict quitting pie but still eating cake or a woman leaving an abusive spouse but moving in with an abusive boyfriend- they are not well!

Onelstgrl,

My love to you in your struggles with depression, Pocono. :blowkiss: OLG is truly a beacon of hope and a font of wisdom for those of us who struggle with addiction and/or mental illnesses - as, of course, are all survivors.

B.Spears family is now saying that they are NOT upset at all with Dr.Phil and the person who was speaking on their behalf is not their spokesperson and they never said those things. Also Britney is in Mexico with her new boy-toy.

Abilify can be taken for bipolar mania. My grandsons take it along with a stimulant. When I've worried that they may have inherited BPD doctors just tell me that abilify should control it, if they have it.

Holy cow, is her new boyfriend the Paperapsi(sp)LOL, guy? Omg if she took off to Mexico with him she really is crazy. :D Good grief, she doesn't even know him. She's asking for more trouble. Another baby could be in the works.:snooty:
IMO the way she is acting, she doesn't care if she gets her babies back.
Good grief Britney get a grip!:loser:

I would just like to thank FlowerChild:clap: and OneLostGrl  for your contributions to this thread. Very very interesting! I just hope someone can get through to Britney because this is the worst train wreck I've ever seen. If it wasn't for those two innocent little boys, I probably wouldn't care so much. It just makes me very nervous.

Yup, Abilify has been approved for treatment of not only schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder but major depressive disorder as well! It also works a bit differently than your typical anti-psychotics. http://bipolar.about.com/od/abilify/a/meds_abilify.htm

Anti-Psychotics can work great for people with Bipolar but aren't so widley used alone, Dr's usually prescribe them as an add-on, part of the cocktail. I think they are still of the mid-set that a person with Bipolar needs a mood stabalizer.

I also think that down the road, if they can ever find a way to get rid of the lousy side effects, esp. with long term usage, Anti-psychotics could end up being what Scientists once thought Lithium was, the miracle drug for people diagnosed with Bipolar.

I wish you well with your grandsons health!!

Yeah the new boyfriend is a Muslim guy who is a Paparazzi...I can't think of his name right now but according to ex-girlfriends of him he isn't someone Britney needs in her life right now...ehh whatever I read too much TMZ.com I think lol.. She does act like she could care less about getting her babies back and I just don't or can't understand that. She only seems to care about what she wants and that to me is so selfish.

She's really in Mexico???
I thought that was part of a skit I heard on the radio.

Regarding Brits drug use and actions. I really think she has taken too many ectasy pills. That can REALLY mess with your brain. Especially when she has underlying mental issues such as ADD, bi polar or drepression.

Pedinurse,

You don't like Amanda Bynes? That's okay...that's your personal opinion, but here's a bit of info. on Amanda. I like this girl...I think she's a doll:

Bynes was born in Thousand Oaks, California, the daughter of Lynn (née Organ), a dental assistant and office manager, and Rick Bynes, a dentist who also practiced stand-up comedy. Bynes has two older siblings, Tommy (born 1974), a chiropractor, and Jillian (born 1983), who has a Bachelor of Arts in History from UCLA and has also acted. Her maternal grandparents are from Toronto, Ontario. Bynes's father is Catholic and her mother is Jewish, and Bynes has referred to herself as Jewish though "not that religious".

AND:

Bynes, who has a dog named Midge and drives a white Lexus SC430, graduated from Thousand Oaks High School's independent study program and has expressed a desire to attend New York University in the near future. She briefly moved into an apartment in Hollywood, California, but has since returned to her family home. Bynes is interested in drawing (She once painted a portrait of David Letterman as a gift to him.)

Bynes turned 21 on April 3, 2007 and spoke out against becoming another wild Hollywood star. "I think I’ll go out as much as I’ve ever gone out... which is not a lot. I like to dance and stuff, but drinking isn’t good for you in every way. It’s not good for your skin; it makes you feel horrible. So, drinking-wise, no". She reinforced these ideas throughout the summer of 2007, on the talk show circuit, and in many press interviews. She told Access Hollywood, "I like being with my family and friends, and I don't need to be out at the clubs." In an interview in December 2007, Bynes detailed how her parents taught her about alcohol.

Amanda Bynes seems to be a sweet, grounded girl.

I think people forget about all those in young Hollywood that keep it together pretty well. She's one of 'em.

Oh she is so adorable! I love Amanda Bynes! Maybe her mom needs to have a chat and offer some tips to Lynne Spears and Dina Lohan?
