Marthatex I totally agree with you! I had my daughter and then my 2 sons and my sons are exactly the same age distance that Brittany's are. It was alot of work! I was 23yrs old and taking care of 3 kids alone since my hubby was always deployed for the most part. I didn't have money to even put them in daycare once a week to get a break. Where I went..they went! Even to MY doc. appts. they were with me in there. I know for a fact Brittany gets so much help with the cooking and the cleaning and nanny's etc..she don't have the worries of how are we going to afford another bag of diapers since pay day isnt for another 3 days?! She has no excuse IMO. I can't defend her anymore...

Just thinking back to how I would have felt when I had small babies; sure I was overwhelmed but I couldn't have stood to be separated from them. Only I could care for my babies and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to for long. The mother/baby bond should be very strong.

I guess people have different ways of giving up, but usually that's depression and lying around, having no energy. I guess getting a new boyfriend and running off to Mexico is just another "escape".

Surely if you cared about the babies, you would appear upset, and express an interest in doing what it takes to regain time with them.

I wonder if she is not mentally ill, but a case of "stunted growth". She stayed at age 12, and never went further.

I believe you have hit upon at least one of her problems. People keep saying she is having a "break from reality" when I happen to think that she never knew reality of adulthood. Up until 12, she wasn't the "product" or "commodity" she became in the next few years. When she needed the nurturing combined with structure and discipline the most, she was being given the trappings of a Diva instead. She learned greed, narcissism, and characteristics attributed to being a success in her genre. She didn't learn even the basic rules of living with responsibilities, compassion, and the most important for a person in her position...boundaries.

Her mental stability was dependent on certain things to cope with life in the long term. It isn't a lot different than having a horrific abuse of drugs or sex thrust upon them at an early age. Their psychological self does become stunted. She has had these ongoing problems since, but either no one noticed or no one cared.

I would, but I'm not mentally ill and on drugs, and I don't know what that reality (which is Britney's reality) looks like from the inside out.

If she does give birth, does the court have the right to order the baby taken away immediately after birth if she has been deemed legally to be an unfit mother??? Anybody know???

In the case of one of my cousins (who is mentally unstable), CPS via a judge's warrant notified the OB/GYN that they were to be notified when she went into labor. They took the baby into custody immediately. (This was baby #7, if I remember correctly.) Unfortuately, she was able to get away with babies 8 & 9. Kids 2-6 were taken by CPS in KY, her rights were terminated and they now have a wonderful family who took them all. Kid #1 was adopted by her parents and she is prohibitted by law from having any contact with them.
None of us know where she is or what name(s) she is using or we'd turn her in again to get #8 & 9 away from her.

It really is sad when women who cannot handle them continue to have children. I am so glad many of your cousin's children found a good family. I am not a fan of the thought of forced sterilization, so it is tough to know what to do in this type of situation - your cousin's family obviously did the right thing.

I know in extreme cases it can happen, at least in Florida. Friends of ours were adopting and had been in communication with the mother for months (through an agency). The baby was being put up for adoption b/c the mom had already given birth and had a couple of other children removed from her care.

She started playing head games with my friends, telling them she wanted "just one day" with the baby. She wouldn't sign the papers until she was able to leave the hospital and have a few hours with him. My friends agreed, having no choice. The adoption agency and the hospital were required to notify DFCS as soon as she stepped out of the hospital. She was arrested and the baby taken into DFCS custody. She refused to sign the papers, so the adoption fell through and the state had to go through the whole process of terminating her parental rights AGAIN. The poor baby was almost a year before he could be legally adopted.

The crazy mom kept calling my friends for months telling them she really wanted them to have the baby, and trying to suck them back into her drama. It was a nightmare. My poor friend still agonizes over that baby and their decision to stop taking the mom's calls, on the advice of the agency, their counselor, their lawyer, and DFCS.

I heard a drug counselor tell one time that a person can get mentally stunted depending on what kind and the amount of drugs they do.

I think it is TOTALLY plausible to think that "Unfitney" is trying to get preggo with paparazzi boy.

Really, it's just exasperating because she could afford cook, housecleaner and be able to spend quality time with her kids, but then have a nanny and go shopping, get together with friends, even go out at night and keep the babies on a smooth routine. It doesn't take a rocket scientist when you have all those resources.

There's absolutely no reason she couldn't provide a loving home for them, just as other stars have families but go out and make movies, keep a career. She had the best of all worlds with money and flexibility.

I can only think she can't care for them because she's a baby herself and totally needy. It's all about her. I've taught 3 and 4 year olds for several years, and also 5-year-olds, and these little kids have so much potential, and can be so much fun, they need to live a normal life and have someone to love them and friends to play with.

So, Brit goes shopping at 1 am and drops 10 grand. Mmmmmm, and here I thought I was special because I learned how to get a personal shopper at Macy's. Geez, I'm so out of it. My $700 shopping spree for my high school reunion with a personal shopper was just peanuts. But, I did do my share of drinking at the reunion. Better than vodka and OJ as she did. What's her Islamic papparazzi boyfriend doing drinking?

I am thilnking that she is bipolar and not taking any meds for it at all and probably will continue to self medicate by drinking and doping. That would explain just about all her drugging, drinking, highs, lows, over spending sprees and inability to be where she should be when she should be. Just MHO. She needs an evaluation after she hasn't been drinking or doping for a few weeks. Then the highs and lows will set in. This young women needs help..her family should step in and try to help her..if she allows them to do that.
