Texas Law says 30 minutes after sunset is the limit
It appears that we may have yet another violation of Texas Hunting Laws--wonder why this hasn't caught anyone's attention yet???

Ok Buzz, I am going to go with your article since it is a Timeline and the whole article is about what time each thing happened. I don't think they would be so dumb as to make a timeline up at CNN. lol
Becba, it sounds as if the time depends on who is telling the story. Sounds as if it is getting adjusted as time goes on. LOL

Wouldn't that mean they were legal then until 6:50pm if sunset is at 6:20?

Sitting here at 6:20pm in Central TX and looking outside, I would think it's light enough to hunt; but since we know it gets dark pretty quick after sunset...well, I'll watch for 6:50pm. I think it's going to be awfully dark by then. I wouldn't want to be hunting, I don't think!

Your Central TX sunset report, now at 6:36pm, another minute or two and it's just flat out too dark to see anything, I bet. And a few days ago, it would have been a minute or two earlier, I'm sure. Either the 6:50 time is wrong, or they had no business shooting at 6:50pm. (Unless hunters shoot for quail in the dark!) Hmmmm.

Hi Dawgie,

I forgot you are from Texas!

I just watched the end of a segment on Wolf Blitzer about the Cheney fiasco, and it was so funny. At the end of it Wolf pointed out that when Hillary was on the chopping block to answer questions, she did have a press conference and wore pink to soften up her image.

The one guest of Wolfs {name ? - I came into it late} said, Hey, Cheyney would look good in pink. It's a lot better than a striped jail suit! :p He had just made the point that Cheney thinks he is above the law in that he could put off talking to LE. He said if I shot someone, or if a kid in DC shot someone {in a similar way he meant}, we'd be talkin to the police right away!

Too bad he chose the :chicken: or maybe he'd call it the safest way out of this by doing an interview rather than a press conference where he'd likely be hammered!

Interesting, the report states the weather was clear and "sunny." That would make sense for 5:30pm, but not at 6:30pm.

I'm baffled at the CNN timeline that says 6:50. That's just plain dark. Cheney said 5:00 or "dusk", well dusk would not be 5:00, it would be around 6:20.

It was originally stated by the news as happening at 5:30. However, the CNN timeline says the ambulance transported him at 7:30, so that would be in keeping with the time he got to the hospital, 8:30.

So 6:50 would make more sense as far as the ambulance timeline, and it doesn't make sense that if he was shot at 5:30 he didn't get to the hospital until 8:30.

But if that's true, he was shooting in the dark. ON the other hand, the accident report sure looks like a 5 and not a 6.

Evidently Dawgie 1/2 hour after sunset is too darn late to be shootin' a gun at quail, don't you think?

He must be very bullheaded to say he would handle it the same way, if he had to go through this again! On Wolfs show they said Cheney is wrong about that - the Republican guest said that.

Uh, yeah, after sunset just isn't a good thing, I'd say, LOL! It's 6:46 and just plain dark.

The two timelines are confusing; 5:30 (as "maybe" on the report, makes more sense, since they marked the box "sunny.") But as Marthatex stated above, then ambulance timeline doesn't seem to mesh that well. Hmmm, I dunno.

Well, you know, I was just thinking - maybe the ambulance had to come all the way from Corpus, so getting the ambulance there and all the way back would take at least 2 hours. I don't understand the 6:50, that's just too dark. Wonder if it's a mistake.

There should always be an ambulance with immediate access to Cheney. (Not just because of his own health conditions, but protocol.)

And I thought it was reported (for whatever that is worth) that it was Cheney's ambulance that was used to transport Mr. W.

Don't know!

Buzz,

In all your great sleuthing, have you run across the actual P&W code violation that both Cheney and W violated (as listed in the report, it stated what I thought said "43,652.") I found 43, but no subsection 652.

Any ideas? (I can look in my boss' book tomorrow, but wondering if you had found it already.) Oh wait, did I read earlier it was confusing because it was a relatively new violation? You'd think that it would be on their official website by now, but hey, it IS gov't we're talking about.

Look again at the incident report. It is a 6 and not a 5. The copy quality is bad.
Course we may see 2 different things.
Buzz commented he wonderd when the report was made out. We know the local LE did not get to talk to them until the next day so the time may be based on someone guestimating.
