The court pushed back the time of announcement. At 18 they're going to tell the time of judgment reading.
Thanks for this.

Reading that they will announce the time for the verdict to be read at 6, does that mean they have already reached their verdict I wonder? Or they anticipate they will be done in a certain number of hours? So odd

I just wish there was a sense of finality with this verdict. But there isn't. In the US, verdicts have a sense of finality - it is pretty much final either way. Even in the case of guilty and then appeal, well the original verdicts very rarely get overturned. The subsequent judge or judges usually go along with what the first judge said, it would have to be a very big thing for them to go against the original presiding judge. So it's not like there's a guilty verdict, and then we're thinking, oh we have to wait for the appeal, have to wait for the appeal. Because we pretty much know that most of the time, the appeal will get denied if the original verdict was Guilty. Like I said, it has to be a Big thing to get it overturned. On the other hand, if not-guilty, it is final. Both scenarios, pretty much final.

And you do not have two judges saying completely opposite things. A higher judge will most of the time uphold the lower judge, unless there is some extraordinary circumstance.

This is really crazy.

I agree although I do wish there was an option for prosecutors to appeal in the US, especially in certain circumstances.

I've said this before but I wish this process was over with this verdict, no matter what that verdict is. Though I wouldn't agree with an acquittal I would accept it and hope for it to be over.

Isn't there still another option for both sides to appeal AGAIN?

I get the feeling the SCC will uphold whatever this verdict will be. I think the case needs to be closed out. Could be wrong, though.....

So the court clerk announced that at 6 pm, they will announce when the verdict will be read. I hope they don't push it ahead hours or into tomorrow.......

How long have deliberations been going on? Anyone think we are close to a verdict? Or did the verdict already happen?

I believe whatever the verdict it's not going to be over. Nor should it be. Each side should exhaust every option allowed under the laws.
One side shouldn't be expected to simply accept it because it's easier or cheaper.

They have been in deliberation for about 8 hours (7 hours and 45 minutes). They will announce at 6 PM when the verdict will be read to the court and press.
