Does anyone know how often a ransom note is left at the site of a kidnapping? Is it more prevalent to call thru demands after the child has been removed?
Just so many weird scenarios...How many ransom notes are two pages and written while the kidnapping is ostensibly going on?
Why not ask for the world? How many kidnappers want a mere $118k for their services?

Questions that have been asked many times. And all having the same answer. This wasn't a REAL ransom note.

While there are sometimes RNs left, that occurs most frequently in the movies and novels. Usually there is just a phone call- when the kidnapping is truly just for ransom and not for the purposes of harming the child. That's what was so wrong about the R case. When a child is kidnapped for ransom, they are not killed or harmed. Dead kid, no ransom. In this case, we know from the autopsy that JBR had died shortly after returning home that night, during a period when anyone lurking in the house may well have expected someone in the family might still be awake.
The RN in this case was an unprecedented THREE pages long. Unbelievable for many reasons. The amount is suspect, too; even if the kidnapper KNEW the amount of JR's bonus that year, the Rs were worth much more. A kidnapping is a crime that carries a long prison sentence, and even the death penalty in many States (not Colorado, I bet). Why not attempt to make it worth it?

LOL
Actually I like to call it a Blueprint on the staging of the crime and why there is a dead body in the Ramey's basement.

Connor, Please do share your ransom letter (note) analysis.
As a retired journalist, I have pointed out many examples within the letter that points to it having been written by someone familiar with writing newspaper article or press releases.
Looking forward to seeing your take.

The ransom saga is just ridiculous it defies comprehension or reality. It definitely is the blueprint, the way things were meant to play out. But things went a little wild for awhile there.

Thanks, I will be posting my analysis on that note by tonight,
or tommorrow, depending on how fast I can finish it.
I'll start by posting part 1 first, then part 2 will be my summary
and conclusions.

Later,

Connor

:clap::clap: Fox News just announced the boulder police are repopenning the Ramsey case.

Sorry I didnt get my note analysis up yet, but
I had to deal with a lot of stuff over the holidays.
I'll see if I can get it up by tomorrow night.

Oh, and its good to see the case might be reopened soon.
I'm optimistic that they can get someplace new in light of
recent developments.

Later,

Connor

Not sure where to put this. Really weird but reading an interview with Patsy she said this:

9 TOM HANEY: Now we are up to 326, it is just

10 one photo on that page.

11 PATSY RAMSEY: This is on John's desk, a

12 picture of Linda and John -- looks like his bible.

OK is Linda his ex-wife? Why in the name of heck would he have a pic of her in his office on his desk? I feel bad if I'm wrong...but really wtf?

Could it be that is referring to his daughter MELINDA by his first wife? Maybe they call her Linda. Or more likely, the interviewer was mistaken in referring to her as Linda instead of Melinda. I agree that a pic of you with your ex-wife would be odd to have in your bedroom (or anywhere in your home with your current wife) but he there were pics of the older kids I am sure.

Oh, boy.

Lucinda was the ex-wife's name, I'm pretty sure. You could get "linda" out of that.

Melinda was his daughter from marriage number one.

And two employees had that name.

Hello,I'm new to this thread and you all have done some awesome work here!!! Before I post my theory,I have some questions and would really appreciate any answers from anyone.

1. I have read the autopsy report and wonder if it is a FACT that JBR was molested over a period of time prior to her death because from the report, I understood that she was.

2. It would seem to me that if she was and for the molester to be JR, he probably did this to his other daughters. Do we know if LE questioned Melinda about this?

3.In BR's interview, he said that when he saw all the people and LE at his house,he thought that they would probably be held up from taking their trip. This sounds so detatched to me. I realize that he was a child, but he was old enough to be upset and concerned about what was happening instead of the trip. My kids would have. See what I mean?

4.Do we know when JBR's bed wetting began?

5. Can anyone explain what happened with the 911 call that happened prior to the murder where the cops were sent away? I can't remember all of that and can't find the thread.
6. On the 911 call from the morning of the murder,is it a FACT that BR is heard on the tape?

Thank You!!

Hello and welcome. I'll try to answer some things if I can.
1. The autopsy showed evidence of prior molestation. To me, that is factual, though because the coroner failed to state sexual molestation in his report (we do not know why) that may mean it cannot be stated as fact.
2. One of JR's two elder daughters died in a car accident a few years before JBR. I don't know whether LE asked Melinda anything about her father's behavior with her.
3. Yes, BR seems very detached from the situation, and even in a subsequent session with a psychiatrist, the doctor found his comments about "getting on with his life" just DAYS after his sister's very violent death, to be odd. It was reported that he never cried that day or even seemed very upset as he was taken that morning to the White's.
4. As far as I can recall reading, JBR was potty trained in the normal way by age 3, and her wetting and soiling, not just in her bed, but in her clothes, began at some point after they moved to Boulder, when she was about 3. It was also within the year or 2 previous to her death that her mother and Nedra began a more aggressive approach to her pageant participation. S I'd say the reversal in potty training began at least a year or 2 before her death.
5. The 911 call placed on Dec. 23rd from the Ramsey home during their annual Christmas party resulted in a officer coming to the house. Susan Stine, a family friend, answered the door and would not let the officer in, saying the call was a "mistake". JonBenet was seen crying at the party at some point, and say she "didn't feel pretty". I personally believe some sort of molestation may have occurred that night, and that is why she was upset. There is speculation she may even have called 911 herself.
6. There are differing opinions on the tape. The tape where he can be heard is an enhanced tape. While there is another voice on the tape that is believed to be BR's, it can't be stated as fact because it hasn't been proved that it is, in fact, his voice.

Thank you DeeDee249!! I'll have to think some more on this. I do feel that the bed wetting, autopsy findings and 911 call from the 23rd are all to do with molestation.I know that sometimes kids will tell an adult(parent or other) and the adult won't believe them or just can't accept it. I've been wondering if maybe JBR had been trying to tell PR for sometime and maybe PR just didn't want to hear it anymore and lost it. My mother had a friend(in childhood) that kept telling her mother that her father was molesting her and her mother would always get very angry and to this day her mother does not want to hear about it.If it were my child, I would go after any man, husband or other. But not all mothers are like that.I think some mothers see that child as a threat or competiton and some mothers just can't accept that this awful thing is happening to their child.Anyway, thank you for your help,I have alot to think about.

It's as much of a fact as it can be without a victim interview. Obviously, that can't happen.

2. It would seem to me that if she was and for the molester to be JR, he probably did this to his other daughters. Do we know if LE questioned Melinda about this?

Actually, there's no guarantee that he would have to molest his other daughters. He could be a situational; that is to say, not otherwise attracted to children, but using her as an outlet. I believe Melinda was questioned and denied it. But then, she wouldn't be the first victim to deny it. And Beth is dead.

3.In BR's interview, he said that when he saw all the people and LE at his house,he thought that they would probably be held up from taking their trip. This sounds so detatched to me. Yes, his detachment has often been remarked on.

4.Do we know when JBR's bed wetting began?

Deedee has it down.
