GUILTY Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead #2 (guilty plea, father found dead 5 November 2025 before sentencing)

Are we sure they're ok??

I hope we hear that he did not do this in the family home or anywhere near those two little girls.

They have been through enough and I'm not impressed by how their mother has seemingly prioritized her husband over their best interests.

Not surprised. He didn't have anything to look forward to. Wish they had cuffed him the day of the plea.

None of us are. I knew he wouldn't show up.

I have thought he was a suicide/ family annihilation risk since he pled guilty.

This would have been a much better outcome for everyone if he had been recognized as a risk and not given so much lax supervision by the judge.

I wonder if he took pills, if he had access to prescription medication, could this put ES medical license in jeopardy?

How did they know so fast? There wasn't even enough time for him to be late to court yet, was there? Maybe they had LE posted up at his house?

How did they find out??

Is it just me or does Judge Lopez have somethings to answer for? The DA obviously wanted him in custody the day he pleaded guilty, it was in the contract. It had to have been her decision to leave him free, just like she decided to let him take a vacation, left him out of jail without bond for the last 15 months and let him live in the house with 2 other children he had also abused. Now Erika will make him a martyr.

I also am not at all surprised. I expected he would a) run, or b) end himself.

But men such as he, IMO usually take their families with them when thy resign themselves to option b. Praying for the girls, that they are safe, that his selfish to the end butt didn't unalive himself in front of them, and that they get to move forward with love, consistency, and emotional support.

He truly is the most cowardly of defendants. He left his family to clean up his mess, true to form. Now ES is left to deal with the civil suit filed against them alone.

Erika likely found him and called 911, I’m guessing

News 4 Tucson's Chief Investigative Reporter Chorus Nylander asked Deputy County Attorney Kim Hunley what happened as she was visibly emotional leaving court. Hunley said, "it was unexpected this morning, we will send out a news release."
Christopher Scholtes dead, failed to appear to be taken into custody after hot car death plea deal
Prosecutor was "emotional"??? Has anyone confirmed the girls are alive?!!?!

None of the attorneys would explain what happened. A representative of the Pima County Attorney’s Office said to expect a statement later in the day.

I also believe he was seriously enabled by his wife. She had to have known what his mental state was and I just hope those two little girls were far away.

She'd better not try to play the martyr card. She has a lot more to lose than just him.

No surprises here though i assumed he would’ve taken off for Mexico…if he and his weirdo wife didn’t fake his death

At today’s hearing, Judge Kimberly Ortiz took the bench, then immediately recessed the court. A few minutes later, prosecutors and Scholtes’ defense attorney hustled out of an apparent meeting in chambers. Judge Ortiz vacated the hearing but affirmed the sentencing hearing set for Nov. 21.

had she not bought into his, woe is me, victim mentality and ES's claims that his being in custody would be detrimental to their surviving girls, CS would still be alive to serve his sentence and experience justice on earth. Ridiculous. Watch ES turn around and blame the rest of the world and the court for her having gotten her way when arguing that nonsense.
