A judge will sentence him on Nov. 21.

I am thoroughly shocked he accepted the plea deal. I thought he would've thought with such a long guaranteed time in prison on the table, that it would be worth going for the chance at an acquittal or even lesser charge, however small that chance might have been. It makes me think maybe he does actually feel some appropriate remorse. I wonder if his attorney advised him to accept. I also wonder if a different (better) attorney would tell him to reject it.
He will get between 20 and 30 years. No softballs here! I would have been fine with him getting LWOP, but even 20 years is no joke. And it will be a flat sentence, so no early release or good time. Even if he gets the minimum, he will not get out until late 2045! That’s a looong time. And his kids will be grown. It makes me very very worried that he is going to get a softball sentence.
2050 is a nice round figure. He will get between 20 and 30 years. No softballs here! I would have been fine with him getting LWOP, but even 20 years is no joke. Not surprised. I am going to guess that they were never really going to go to trial. He waited until almost last day. But the jury has not been seated.
I won't be upset if the judge goes light on the sentence. Any time is better than none. I wonder if his marriage is falling apart, and there is a lack of financial support.
Agreed! Although 2055 is even better2050 is a nice round figure.

At least his accomplice wasn't with him, rubbing his back and arms and telling him it was okay, huh?

Agree 100%. Things could go terribly sideways here, thinking of those two little innocents.I am trying to figure out why he is not in jail tonight. This is not a federal court plea deal, where you schedule to go to federal prison.
This is state charges, he pled guilty to 2nd degree murder, with a child abuse and domestic violence enhancement. Why didn't he leave in cuffs, directly to jail?
I can't remember ANY state criminal charges where someone pleads guilty, to 2nd degree murder!!! . And then just goes home. WTH?!
I doubt she is planning to cut ties with him—their Marana house was “sold” to an LLC they set up with Christopher Scholtes as the contact person, and they just bought a big expensive house elsewhere in AZ which is also owned by the LLC with Chris as the contact person (see my post #693 on this thread; link below).Financial issues could be a significant factor. There are a lot of expenses that EC has to bear, including a lot of childcare.
Taking on something like $100,000 - $200,000 legal fees only to possibly reduce his sentence by a bit may not make financial sense.
She may received advice from her employer that they were getting complaints from people who refused to use her as their anesthesiologist, and her employer was finding she was not useful, threatening her job.
There could have increasing questions about her liability and possible charges if CS continued to fight the charges.
She may also realize he is always going to be a problem in their lives.

I am aghast that he’s allowed to remain out of custody for another 2 full weeks. Wonder how closely he plans to adhere to any restrictions related to him being left alone around his remaining children (IIRC that was a stipulation of his bond after he was first arrested/charged). Also wouldn’t be surprised at all if he mysteriously vanishes before November 5th (is he wearing an ankle monitor, I wonder? In the video above, he is wearing what I would describe as tapered/“skinny” pants, and when I paused it and zoomed in on his ankles in the reflection of the doors, I saw no obvious signs he had an ankle monitor on), or if he takes the coward’s way out of the whole situation.
Right, and *they* have had time to plan for this. Then she can be arrested for harboring a fugitive in addition to child abuse for willingly and knowingly failing to protect the lives of her children.Exactly. He has what, no bond? Or $25,000 bond? The articles are conflicting. Geez, just walk across the border at Nogales. That border is a joke.
It’s probably garbled by Gemini or something. This is a puzzler.
Certainly the sentence beginning "The report also includes an allegation" might equally attribute the abuse or the reporting of it to LS.
The syntax is certainly garbled but the position of the phrase by his father indicates (to me) that it is the report rather than the abuse attributed to LS.
So my guess is that LS is the reporter here, and the allegations of neglect (substantiated) and of neglect, physical abuse and SA were made by him and the claims themselves refer to CS.
The summary report is clearer (to me):
