otto, there are plenty of beaches here in California that are covered with smooth, round rocks. I'm not arguing your point about salt water, but one reason why rocks wear smoothly or sharply is the composition of the rocks, not the water.

There was a comment upthread about the rocks on Nanki Beach being sharp and jagged. That doesn't appear to be the case. My expectation is that salt water will cause volcanic rock to become smoother. Would you expect salt water to cause rocks to become sharp and jagged?

Looks like he is wearing socks too

Indeed. And this is my first close look at his shoes.

That makes two things nobody wears into the water: socks and expensive, leather, New Balance sneakers.

He does not look like someone who just lost their traveling companion to me. But he does look like someone who is thinking about cashing their million dollar beneficiary check.

He's probably thinking that Nancy Grace was right ... all Aruban investigators are bumbling fools.

How would he know? It's not like he's supposed to be experienced in this type of situation. jmo

Or, this beats walking carts out of Target with expensive electronics in them. jmo

As far as JB goes, I am one of the very few people here who did not follow the CA case so I am quite unfamiliar with Jose Baez

But like it or not, isn't that what defence attorneys do?
Get their clients off?

I don't know how big a role he will be able to play in Garys case , as Lambchop pointed out, he is not licensed in Maryland

You missed The Master in action by not following that case.

I watched it with live commentry from Bill Schaeffer who clearly thought Burdick and Ashton were going to walk away with the badge, as did the majority of people as well.

But Jose Baez masterfully out smartered both of them with strokes of pure genius.

Also live was a blog that Schaeffer was on and when I repeatedly said that Jose had them beat, I was set upon.

If he was paying attention to the Holloway case (that's been suggesting upthread), he was watching NG.

just watching a short video of the fox interview... and wondering why he's so open and willing to tell GR all about that day but was so resistant and hostile to RR while on GMA: "i've told that story 50-60 times... and i'm not ..."

You forgot about the wig.

There seems to be many IMO's here, which means it is an opinion, not a fact.
I should imagine that JMO has a similiar meaning as well.

We are discussing what he actually has said and commenting on it. It is common practice here to put IMO, or JMO when we are commenting on what he has, in fact, said which would be a fact based upon what GG has answered to questions interviewers have asked him. Hope that clears thing up for you.

You're assuming that Baez has become GG's sidekick because he is acting as his lawyer. Given the "exclusive" with ABC and the known fact that Baez likes to sell criminal suspects to the media, Baez could be acting as his agent - in which case all the underhanded stunts that we saw from Baez during his last court performance would be fair game. I suspect that we'll see a real lawyer step up to the plate in the event that GG is facing criminal charges in Maryland.

How in the world did you get that from my post defending the ethics of respectable defense attorneys?

I have no idea what JB's private financial arrangements are with GG, or even if he has any. Maybe JB is appearing with GG because it serves as free advertising.

What I have said is that there are ways around the jurisdictional bar requirements, if GG and JB decide they want JB to continue to represent GG. These I know for a fact because I have worked cases where such arrangements were made.

But at this point, I'm don't even know whether the State of Maryland has jurisdiction. I'm merely saying that if it does and GG is charged, there are ways GG can have JB included on his defense team without JB having to pass the Maryland bar.

And you may be right that JB is serving as nothing more than a media consultant, and will be replaced by an experienced trial attorney in the event the case ever goes to court. Time will tell.

Maybe for some reason he felt he could trust GR not to ask those pesky questions. But in the end GR is still a reporter who wants to get that exclusive....those minor little details that no other interviewer was able to get. If it cost him his friendship with JB, oh well. Friends are a dime a dozen and besides BW's wouldn't hug JB and we know how GR feels about BW. In the end, JB is expendable......BW, not so much. jmo

We all probably know lawyers but that doesn't make us lawyers ... I'm speculating on how Baez might be conducting himself and what role he plays in his latest media stunt, just like you.

As I said, I've seen both smooth and sharp rocks in the ocean. I've also seen both smooth and sharp rocks in fresh-water streams.

I realize that salt is also a mineral. If you are saying that the presence of salt in water serves to grind down rocks, I believe you.

But there will be other factors, including the mineral composition of the rocks, the length of time they have been in the water, and the strength and speed of the current. Salt water may not make rocks sharper, but if the rocks were sharp to begin with, salt water may not be enough to make them smooth.

And that, dear friends, is pretty much everything I remember from Geology 101.

Well, I have worked for attorneys and heard them say more than once that their paralegals know more about the law than they do. You don't have to be a lawyer to know about the law. jmo

You can call him the 'master' if you like. I guess we all have different definitions of that word. When I look at Baez, I see someone who freed a soul-less, coldblooded killer, and who did so by making up horrible accusations against her father. That is not the definition of a master, imo.

And it looks like he is trying to do the same thing again with this guy GG. I have no respect for Baez at all. But to each his own. If you truly feel that this guy, who killed Robyn so he could collect the insurance money, deserves freedom, then fine. I just hope you are not in law school.

I've gone out of my way not to claim credentials I do not have. But I do have decades of work experience and I can post about arrangements I have personally witnessed.

And I quite clearly acknowledged that you may be right about JB and his relationship with GG.

Okay, to clear this up and Duchi can back me up on this, the rock formations around that area can be full of holes and appear to be coral like. I thought it was volcanic rock but was told know it's coral. That the whole island is coral underneath the sand. There are some smooth rocks but getting into the water there are both jagged, sharp and some are smooth. Water does make holes in them and wears them away but primarily they are coral which is sharp, full of holes and not inviting when you step on them. And this is a personal observation from being there and a fact as I know it. lol jmo
