I agree with you, Chilly. Her actions before Caylee's disappearance were erratic and not rational, in hindsight. She was calm and cool during her interviews, but that could be the 'unemotional' stance the Defense was talking about.

I think they have a 'viable' defense if they bring out all the stuff we have been talking about for months, no job, imaginary baby sitter, stealing from her family, lying about, well everything. Don't think they are going to win, but they do have a viable defense. HOWEVER, will Casey let them go this route? Will she accept being painted as emotional disturbed or mentally ill? that is going to be the question!

I see nothing erratic or irrational about Casey's behavior. She seemed to me to behave like a typical sociopath - manipulative, calculating, self seeking, self serving, consistent.

I guess it could be that she heard voices telling her not to work, to steal from family and friends, etc. Looking forward to hearing anything they have that would indicate any mental illness.

is this the "doc dump" that we were awaiting today??? TIA!!! :)

You know I don't really care if she gets the death penalty or not - I want her to spend the rest of her natural days behind bars with no possibility of leaving prison.

Ditto. :)

My sister-in-law suffered from post-partem depression. It didn't make her go out and sleep with every man she could find, steal money, dance, etc. It was all we could do to get her up out of bed and dressed.
PPD generally diminishes sexual functioning.

I don't know - I have always thought if she was backed into a corner with no way out, she would come up with a scenario very similar to ones covered in that 30 page document. I saw this item on the news and the document discussed 'accidental overdose' and a few other things. I can see her going there, but I am not sure I see her allowing the mental illness, emotional disturbance defense. Unless she convinces herself it is the only way she will be 'free'.

I agree, I sincerly hope the timing of this is related to the upcoming search. I just fear that is the only way she will confess is if she is forced to. Sad for Baby Caylee, she deserves to come home.

Baby Photos Of Caylee's Mom Used In Request To Avoid Death Penalty

"In this case, no one knows how death might have happened, if at all," stated the document, which was also obtained by Local 6 News. "If death did occur, the death was almost certainly a tragic accident."

Anthony's defense team also raises the possibility that Caylee may have been poisoned by chloroform, saying, "Death may have occurred while the child was sedated or from an unwitting overdose of a sedative."

So they think showing pictures of CASEY as a baby will somehow make her a more sympathetic character?? I hope they ALSO shows Caylee's pictures, then the DA can note which one is alive and well, and which one is dead and missing!!

And, sorreee, but I do have to say: "told you so." I have posted at least 4X on this board that the defense is going for a mental illness defense having to do with postpartum depression or psychosis (and I included them both).

So, do I really have to go back and search for every single post? Give me some credit for predicting what the defense is going to do, at least because all I've gotten on here is backlash for my opinion and/or ignoring that I ever suggested it.

I never said it would be the truth, I only said that is what the defense will try to use.

And, p.s. I don't mean to offend anyone. Thanks.

OK. I'll give you that.:blowkiss: What I don't get is JB saying today "Caylee is alive." And now the other atty TL filing a motion stating "the crime was not pre-meditated...." THEN referencing KC alleged weird behavior THEN referencing cases of other mothers convicted of killing their children and how THEY didn't get the dp....
It sounds like the KC dream team is talking out of both sides of their mouth.

the evidence that LE has is so powerful,
the defense has no chance but to try and cut a deal

she will confess.... as i have mentioned a zillion times

she either confesses.. or the trial will show without a doubt how guilty she is

better to confess and plead for mercy for not getting the death penalty

this case is about to come to a screaching halt

I think you are right robotdog............It is over from what I read into his interview.

Peeing in a parking lot, dry humping some chic at a party, spending your best friends money, buying your mom and dad's house with out a job. That's what they will use in her defense as being out of it. I thought that was normal behavior.

They will be laughed out of court if they go with this defense. Just because someone is a lazy, lying, thieving, good for nothing 🤬🤬🤬 that can't even take responsibility for her own child it doesn't mean they are mentally ill or legally insane. Casey thought the world owed her a living and didn't want to share any of that with Caylee.

So much emotional distress, yet she never had counseling. :waitasec:
...or that her own mother felt comfortable leaving her sweet granddaughter with her?

I would like to know the particular crime they are referring to. Also, I would hope when they refer to cases, they could get the location correct. Certainly not proud of it, but Susan Smith lived in South Carolina. Not Arkansas.
I pray they find remains this weekend.

I'd have to read it context to form an opinion, really...it could be a list of addressing a list of long hypotheticals that they are preparing for, and we are seeing only a snippet.

I still wonder about George standing at the edge of those woods, though. I hope he's okay...

SNIPPED: "... I think they have a 'viable' defense if they bring out all the stuff we have been talking about for months, no job, imaginary baby sitter, stealing from her family, lying about, well everything. Don't think they are going to win, but they do have a viable defense...."

I respectfully disagree. This doesn't add up to a viable defense.

It sounds like the KC dream team is talking out of both sides of their mouth.

It sounds like Baez has been put "out of the loop." She better take the experienced DP attorney's advice. as he is the one who knows what it takes to convict for the DP & it sounds as if he is going for some sympathy to keep the DA from going after it because they have the evidence to make it stick.

...or that her own mother felt comfortable leaving her sweet granddaughter with her?

But wasn't it stated somewhere that Cindy was actually advised to seek custody of Caylee? I wonder if the family plan on using this information (or possibly similar information) to bolster her defense, if that's the case...

  • #158
Baez said when this came to trial we would all understand everything.

From the same article:

The argument is not a case strategy, Local 6 News reported, but rather only an attempt to get the death penalty option off the table.
Who even really knew it was ON the table? Obviously, there's been some behind the scene discussions. So much for leaks.

I cannot imagine they're going to argue that she suffered post-partem for 2+ years (which is a diagnosis that usually comes to mind with one is depression following a birth,) so what is it about Caylee's birth (ergo the "since Caylee's birth" line) that sent Casey into such a tailspin?

:shocked2: :shocked2: :shocked2:

Cindy is an RN for many years-she would know what PPD looks like and I'm sure she would have gotten Casey the medical help she needed to be the "mother of the year" that she said she was. No wait-I'm talking about Cindy(Queen of Denial). Poor Caylee-she didn't stand a chance in that family.
