But, then why would Grandma have waited 31 days to find her granddaughter? If she believed Caylee to be in imminent danger she would have called out the cavalry, no?

I think Cindy might not have feared the worst of Casey, that she potentially might harm Caylee, but still may have alluded to this in her session with the councilor to make a more forceful/convincing bid as to why she was pursuing custody. This would also explain any feelings of guilt and the desire to delude herself and obscure the truth. Not so much to protect Casey (certainly not Caylee) but rather, herself.

Can ANYONE point me in the direction of a confirmed source that DFS opened a file BEFORE Casey/Caylee went missing? I know I was TOLD that, but can't find it. The source of that "complaint" and the timing of it could blow this whole argument, imo..
I know we discussed it in reference to the visits to the house. It was a possibility, but I thought it was also written somewhere that it could have been in relation to the initial child neglect charge...maybe we were being mollified?

I couldn't find that but you might look back in some of the early interviews which stated the DCS had an investigator involved in the case who stated they were on "alert" or something like that prior to the kidnapping report. They had one or two detectives from DCS working this case in addition to the case worker they interviewed.

The post partum depression defense?

I will fly down to FL and chain myself to the defense table before I will listen to that being bandied about-there is NOTHING in her behavior as reported that supports this. AND there are MILLIONS of women who actually suffer from it-few opt to kill their children. Andrea Yates was a different story completely as anyone who has dug and dug on her case can see.

It does not surprise me to see that JB might be positioning mental health issues-BUT the erratic, needy, promiscuous, self involved behavior of his client does not quack like a duck if you catch my drift...

:furious:

Sounds to me that the defense is agreeing that KC did kill her daughter and is going to use the mental illness defense. I bet NG has a ball with this tonite. can't believe this is published in the media at this time. Wonder what ol Cindy thinks of this???

I love the thing with baby photos. Did they think the prosecutor would look at them and say "Oh how cuuuuuuttee!!!! We can't possibly give her the death penalty!!!!"

Might they try to reason that a death penalty for Casey would be too hard on George and Cindy after already losing Caylee?

They want to work out a deal? OK lethal injection or the chair?

:clap::clap: That's what I have been saying...tell us where she is & you get the needle. Don't tell us & you fry.:furious: That would the ONLY deal I would make with her. MOTY didn't coddle Caylee, let's not coddle her.

Tough luck!

A bit off the subject but they want the check charges trial to be after the Murder trial. Is this so that the defense could try to block this from coming into the murder trial?

Cindy should have kept her mouth shut "from day one". She's done more damage to her daughter's case than anyone else. If the trial goes forward, you can count on seeing lots and lots of video/audio of Cindy and the information/lies she has given (mostly incriminating).

 ITA. I am sure she has been told how all the sound bites are going to bite them all in the butt. I bet she STILL won't stay quiet. Like, what was her reason for texting a reporter to state why GA was at the woods? Let him explain it if asked. Now she will out explaning this. She will claim to be an expert in psyc nursing just as she is in decomp nursing.

...IF and only IF Caylee's body is found. Intersting to anyone else that they've filed this BEFORE TES begins this weekend?!?!? Though I don't fild the filing odd at all in this stage, it is interesting to me that it comes just before a new search.

Yes, I mentioned this earlier. They believe she will be found, and so do I.

Are we supposed to actually feel sorry for someone who accidentally overdoses her child with chloroform? Oops! Gave her too much! Sowwy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I want the prosecutors to show Casey the same humanity and mercy that she showed Caylee.

If Mallory is still with Lee and she gets pregnant she needs to run as fast as she can.

I totally agree something happened on that day. The neighbors reported hearing loud arguing. Those homes are very close together and I can bet that neighbors notice anything out of the ordinary.
I think that Cindy and GA refused, due to being mad at KC, to watch Caylee for her. She was angry and mad because all her friends were going on Holiday and she was stuck with a kid.
I would diagnosis her as a "princess" used to getting her own way and throwing fits when she didn't. Not with PPD. LOL:)
I thought it also had to do with the GGM giving CA a difficult time about the missing money..after the visit to the nursing home.

The post partum depression defense?

Looks that way. She clearly changed after having Caylee. But even if it is proven that she was suffering post partum dep(We call it post natal depression here) then theres still accountability. It wont get her off.

And JB got this in just in time, didnt he? They know TES will find Caylee this weekend.

So if she was acting erractic and not entirely rational, prior to Caylee's disappearance, why did she appear to be so calm and rational running around Orlando to nightclubs, dancing, going on shopping sprees with your friend's checkbook, cooking for your friends, renting videos from blockbuster arm in arm with her boyfriend....after? I hope the SA tells them, nice try, thanks for playing!

Think about it, all the things that she was doing. Most of us criticize her for not doing and acting like a normal mother would that has a child missing. She is and has not been normal. She did not do rational things. She appeared to act normal to her friends and family, but what is rational about stealing AH's check book, sleeping with all those guys, all the lies and whatever else that we don't know about. That it is self shows some big time issues with her. She had to of known she would be caught. She was living for the moment and that is what is so irrational about her behavior. IMO she is very ill and no one saw it or acknowledged her problems until it was to late.

oh wow...

I thought you are only post partum after giving birth or am I wrong? That doesn't make any sense to me.

According to CA originally, she was trying to find her for the past month, that when she talked to her there was always an explanation (per her statement). Even if the therapist was not "redflagging" the situation at the initial meeting. I think it's feasible once she might have learned Casey took off with Caylee, she would have alerted DFS, jmho.
I found this- one of the motions-

Defense wants the Department of Children and Families - which did its own investigation into the child-neglect issue - to release its records.
