Lol are you serious?

Maybe taking them to the bank or centrelink to bolster your claim when proving your identity?

"Yes, here's my licence and keycard, plus I also have my daughter's birth certificate" ...

What makes you think Khandalyce had 2 suitcases, Sapphire?
Just curious.

Merely the confusion re the suitcases.

I don't think Khandalyce had 2 suitcases, its only supposition.

However now that you've picked on it -

It makes sense for her to have a little backpack. That wee girl had everything, Karlie would've bought her one for their travels.

Maybe it just got used by another kiddie and ended up at the Salvos eventually who knows. Things like that sort of disappear in a houseful of kids.

I don't think its relevant either way.

Regarding trophies - the bankcard is most definitely a trophy imo. It is literally totally useless yet was present on his person at all times. This is the mind of a killer.

We will probably come to find this guy is linked to more murders.

Or Karlie was his first and he would be working on more if not already jailed (Thank God).

But likely he's killed before to be able to do it so cold heartedly. Also his age makes it likely Karlie was not his first, ditto the planning (selection of Belanglo). Heck, maybe they should dig up the entire place once and for all.

This is why he was included in the Scheme. Because he is a killer and the Schemer knew it.

I'm going to start calling it The Scheme from now on.

Police have made it clear there is DH, a second male (suitcase guy) and two females, one of whom is HP.

<modsnip>

SAPOL have their perps, they're just doing the paperwork.

Great job guys!

They can often tell if a body was killed at the site vs elsewhere.

Let us not forget Karlie was discovered only a short time after she was last seen.

The body found was reasonably "fresh" even though it was likely skeletal.

She died by blunt force iirc....Police can often tell if the body was originally posed (SK) killed suddenly in situ (crumpled in a certain way) or dumped.

In this case, perhaps there were fibres in the wound area that did not come from a forest.

Guessing....but there are ways and means of telling if a body was dead when dumped including insect activity, where it occurs first, what order the decay begins etc.

Yes, that's my point. They usually can tell if a person was murdered in situ, or moved at a later time. This is usually ascertained by forensic anthropology and forensic archaeology, as well as forensic botanists and soil experts and experienced police work. However, in this particular case, the police can't have been too sure, because they changed Karlie's murder site from saying she was killed elsewhere (believing she was probably dumped at Belango as a red herring) to having been killed in or around Belanglo.

I wouldn't say she was found only a short time after she was last seen myself. If she was found within a few weeks or months, then I would say a relatively short time. However, she lay in Belanglo for approximately 20 odd months before she was discovered. Her remains were skeletal when found.

We can't say she died by blunt forice "iirc" (whatever that is, I have no idea), as police have only stated that she died "violently".

Once again, one would expect any fibres that were initially found at the crime scene would have been forensically validated at a fairly early stage in the investigation, which may help determine if she was killed elsewhere, the body transported, etc, etc - not years later.

Ok. So why do you think DH kept 2 suitcases of Karlie's clothing and stored them at his sister's house?

A guess...

he has a nubile preteen niece he wants to see wearing them one day...

Milat did the same thing

It pleased him to see his victims things being used by other girlfriends and family

Every time he saw the item it gave him a kick. Seeing someone using it who didn't know where it came from = double kick.

Maybe. But if so, I wonder why were they stored in a house in NSW for 7 years when Karlie's bank and Centrelink were in SA?

Maybe all the loot got split up when they broke up, Hazel stayed on in Adelaide and Daniel moved back up to Canberra. Perhaps he killed them both up in NSW and only brought some of it back with him when he got back with Hazel and left the rest with his sister? I bet if Centrelink had required the birth certificate it would have found it's way back to SA.

It is actually pretty scary how easy it is to defraud Centrelink isn't it?

OK here's what we do know.

A female in a wheelchair impersonated Karlie at certain government agencies.

Almost $100,000 was spent or withdrawn from the account since November 2008 until March 2012. The account was closed earlier this year due to inactivity.

Money was deposited through Centrelink payments, previous wages and other unknown sources.

Also, disturbingly, it appears that in June 2010 a woman in a wheelchair impersonating Ms Pearce-Stevenson attended Australian Central Credit Union at Elizabeth to update banking records.

In December 2010 a woman claiming to be Ms Pearce-Stevenson also attended a compulsory interview with Centrelink at Salisbury.

Detectives are investigating if it was the same woman on both occasions.

However, police know that a man and at least two women have been responsible for the financial transactions and have lived at, or been associated with, homes in Davoren Park, Hillbank, Holden Hill and Charnwood, Canberra.

I suppose there could be a second woman in a wheelchair....but HP is the only one Police have leaked to splatter across the Front Pages....

2 + 2 = 4

2 + 2 = 4, but 1 + 3 =4 along with 0 + 4 = 4, as well as 10 - 6 = 4, etc, etc, etc.

Until it is proved, Hazel Passmore is innocent. It has to be remembered and taken into account, that the police have interviewed her a number of times, and not arrested her. So until the police actually state that she has been charged, in my opinion, we shouldn't jump to erroneous conclusions.

Hm. I didn't realize this until your succinct restatements here -- but his actions make sense if he DOESN'T know Karlie is dead and he's thinking he's holding onto her things until she gets back.

Yes, I think so. And ditto for the birth certificate.
Just not things you keep if you are covering up a murder, and especially to ask your sister to store them. That would involve her in the crime.
I can think of no other reason he would have looked after 2 suitcases of clothes and a birth certificate.
It would be interesting to know what his sister said he told her about why the cases needed to be kept, wouldn't it?

So they just held onto her stuff waiting for her to come back? How does that explain going into Centrelink and the bank pretending to be her, and spending all her money?

Whatever case pops up there are always contrary people who refuse to believe the case put forth by police, but if they've charged DH they have a whole lot more to go on than they've given to the media ..

Here are a couple:

@SeanFewster

@Staceylee_

They're the Adelaide ones, maybe they won't cover as much.

It's in a Sydney court so I would follow one of the Sydney Crime/Court reporters.

Maybe. But if so, I wonder why were they stored in a house in NSW for 7 years when Karlie's bank and Centrelink were in SA?

Milat stored his victim trophies in several houses in NSW despite them having records overseas!

Why would he care?

If he wanted the trophies he wanted the trophies! Precious little thought or planning.

Maybe Karlie had some really good brands!

Again, maybe he didn't "store" them so much as give them away.

Here, some clothes for X when she's old enough...all the good brands *leer*

That's what Milat did...and that's how they sealed his conviction too. :)

I find them giving HP to the media on a plate, very interesting also.

Theyre called Tactics and theyre designed to increase stress.

Leaking an identity so the media pack can put pressure on an already strained situation.

They are trying to break the pact of silence imo.

As for a hashtag, maybe #belanglo. This is the stream I got when I searched:
