I was questioning the inference that his information about Karlie and drug money must have come from the imposter.
I take your point.. but to put it in perspective.. .. there is no reason for anyone to be thinking that Karlie is a drug runner, a buyer who doesn't seal the buy but instead scarpers with the money, and has a bounty on her head UNTIL her family begin searching for her in earnest.. As it happens , this story begins it's appearance as soon as Karlie is actually, but unknown to anyone else except the killers, dead. .. It is Karlie's death that provokes the story. No body knows this except the killers, though. The people of Karlies family who hear this story take it as an explanation of why Karlie wont be contacting them on a regular basis. Neat, ey?
Until it is suspected that Colleen, Karlie's mum is intent on making an official Missing Persons report, no one is making contact or telling yarns re Karlie the New Girl on the Block as Alice Springs very busy latest drug supplier.
Then the impersonator appears on the scene. Because, it has to be the impersonator because Karlie is dead. So, probably, is Khandalyce.
The point of the impersonator is to stop Karlie from becoming an Official Missing Person. And it works. Colleen is calmed.. saddened that Karlie isn't coming home, but calmed and removes the request to the police. As an aside, she also deposits some money in Karlie's account, a bonus for the impersonator.
Karlie hadn't contacted home at all. As far as is known, according to the police, the
only contact made was by the impersonator. Either by voice or text. And it had to be the impersonator because by the time 'Karlie' made contact , the real Karlie was dead.
