Found Deceased AUS - Tayla Spies,29, white 2017 dual cab Toyota Hilux I’d also missing. Left a hotel in Daley & travelled west to Surat, Queensland, 2 Feb 25

So, Dalby to Condamine, to Surat to Roma, is about 330km - still less than a full tank of fuel. If that was her intended route, with no further deviations. I'm not sure about the tank sizes and fuel-to-km ratio of a Hilux, and have zero knowledge of diesel vehicles. However, I agree that fueling up in a big town, where prices are cheaper, is the best option. A trip of that length would likely not need a re-fueling.

There has been mention of the vehicle being a work vehicle and a work colleague using it. I have questions around this that I haven't found answers for, nor do I know if this is the truth. Who is the registered owner? (Registration has since lapsed) What is the boss/employee/colleague situation? Why was it borrowed, work or pleasure? What sort of work, as Tayla's current job - if she has one - is quite vague? If the vehicle did change hands at some point recently, where, when and how did this occur? On this note, after taking possession of the car, could it have been lower on fuel than anticipated and only noticed after leaving Dalby, requiring a pit stop to refuel at the nearest place?
In my opinion, EVERYTHING is vague in this case...

That makes sense

Yes correct, the surat development road takes you from the south of surat through the town, right turn through the town and out the nothern side onto the Carnarvon hwy.

I would fuel up in Dalby before leaving. Then just drive to where I was going. 300km is not all that far for a hilux, dalby fuel is cheaper than little towns in between fuel. Roma fuel is cheapest.

As for food, there's shops in every town you come to that will sell something tasty to eat... I just stop when I'm hungry ...
I hear stories all the time of people driving insane amounts for "the best sausage roll/pie/donut in Australia". Living in the country, where long distance travels are a regular occurrence, it would not seem crazy to detour for an awesome food item for a long trip home. MOO

This brings us to why, after leaving Surat, did her car end up on the Yuleba-Surat Rd near Noorindoo, especially if she was allegedly well on her way home? Was the intention to head right home, or was she planning other stops and/or detours?
Maybe she was dropping some things off ????

The properties out there in forestry country are large 25,000 - 50,000 acres is not rare, with a lot of foresty. A cocky (cow farmer) could have found her vehicle after shifting cattle after recent rains into a fresh paddock then checking those cattle and doing a lick run (special cow supplement food). Cockys have little roads that go everywhere all over their properties to get to the lick troughs. The council roads go through their paddocks. They stop the cows getting out using a grid which cars can get over but cows can not.
The scrub on the Yuleba-Surat Road isn’t that thick. A big white ute would stick out to some degree during the day and be visible by drone if it wasn’t camouflaged. My hunch is that the ute has recently been planted where it was found. I’m assuming (and surprised) the ute wasn’t burnt out as Tayla’s gear was found inside.

The Yuleba-Surat Road is only around 9ks north of Surat. Didn’t TN say he last saw her about 30 ks north of Surat? If so, the ute has turned around and headed back towards Surat.

I agree - that car must have been dropped there more recently. It would have been found by those drones before yesterday

Unless he lied for some reason.........

VERY good conclusion... 👌
I was surprised they only just found it if it was in a paddock after all the aerial searches... even the thickest belah and wilga clump would have difficulty hiding anything from the air. You can even spot dead cattle under them

Agree.
It does not look like thick brush or dense forest.
If they did aerial searches with drosen it would have been visible. Although as we learned over and over again in other cases, searches often can miss significant things!
Anyway, I have just watched the live press conference, and it was said the the land owner who called it in reports that it cannot have been there longer than 12 days (I presume because that's the last time he went to that part of the property).

Wow, did they announce that in the press conference??
I have not heard any questions about the remains at all in it!
I must have missed a whole chunck, oops.

ETA: I did nott miss anything in the press conference, I watched it again and they only talked about the car.

Heartbreaking !

Honestly this case is just beyond bizarre.

Her car found yesterday and her body found 1 km from the car.

Something not right with all this , especially after all those areas were searched.

I really really want to believe that she had a medical episode and went off road, got out of the car and died in the bush of natural causes.
But it sounds all a bit too unlikely and sus.
I guess the car and the autopsy will tell us more.

According to news reports, the property owner told police that the ute hasn't been there any longer than 12 days!

The ABC say the cocky says it's been there for no longer than 12 days 🤯

Statistically, an intimate partner would be most likely to be the #1 suspect. But drug involvement would have to be high up there for sure.
