I think they literally have "keepers". People who accompany the jury everywhere and tell them where they can go, etc. The judge describes some of the rules as "over the top" so I imagine they are very restricted in what they can and cannot do. Perhaps they're even being confined to their hotel rooms.
Yes there was the recent case of Richard Allen Delphi murders where the jury was sequestered. They were confined to their rooms for much of the time, no TV, a nightly phone call with family which was supervised, board games and reading material which was not crime related. One juror said she kept ironing all of her clothes.

Gosh. I'm really surprised he is still instructing them about his instructions during deliberations, when they haven't asked any questions. It feels very OTT to me, like he doesn't trust them to do their work. MOO
Those instructions were given on Monday before the jury was sent off to deliberate. It’s old reporting.

When individuals are accused of multiple murders, it is protocol that their names are not used. Therefore, I’ll continue to refer to alleged murderer as the accused. I don’t want to use her name. Three people were killed. One person is fortunate to be alive.

Privacy screening appears at Erin Leongatha's home

After several hours of deliberations, the jurors were brought back into the courtroom.

Justice Beale wished them a “pleasant break” tonight at the hotel where they will be sequestered, under the watchful eye of jury keepers.

“The jury keepers have an important job to perform and they’ll be making sure that no one interferes with you,” he said.

He instructed them not to second-guess any of their instructions.
“(It would be an) awful shame if you didn’t oversee one of their instructions and, as a result, we had a mistrial,” he added.

“Some of the instructions may seem over the top … but please just bear with it.”
The jurors will be bussed back to court tomorrow to continue their deliberations.

Meanwhile, black plastic tarps have been wrapped around the front of the accused’s Leongatha home in the event she is found not guilty and wishes to return to her property.

That is just weird. If she's found not guilty, she can walk into her house with her head held high. There is no need to be sheathed in black plastic. Ewh.

Actually, I wonder if they are protecting the house from people who they imagine will pelt it with eggs if she is found guilty. Maybe her friends are liars too.

Her house would undoubtedly be swarmed by journalists and photographers; the black plastic is a privacy screen.

Mushroom jury’s out Did Erin Patterson have a motive to murder?

IMO people are paying too much attention to the motive she might have had. There is a reason why the prosecution does not have to provide a motive. Murderers do kill for any number of reasons, some of which are more understandable than others, and putting yourself into the mind of a killer is useless and even counter-productive. Look at the recent events in Idaho, where a man set a brush fire and then started firing at first responders who came to the scene. Apparently he was upset because a law enforcement officer had asked him to move his vehicle. We've all been asked to move our car at some point, but we don't go on a murderous rampage in retaliation.

She doesn't need a privacy screen. She can pull the window blinds. She can just be home or out and about as usual. The press isn't interested in pursuing stories from innocent people. They'd be gone before evening if they ever did arrive.

Even if she is acquitted, interest in the case isn't going to die down just like that. There are a number of angles that journalists can pursue - and they will.

Occurs to me that the privacy screen might be a gesture of hope, that she'll soon be acquitted and back home. But also suitable if she is not, unlike a "Welcome Home" sign that would have to be torn down.

I feel for her children, they are victims of all this. She seems to have been a good mother to them.

The house was broken into and stripped of all electrical appliances and security cameras were stolen in Dec 2023. This was reported in media.

🤣

A good mother doesn’t put her children though the last few years and let’s not forget Simon’s mysterious illnesses. These children have been hell and back all due to her negligence over that lunch. Regardless of the intent she is to blame.

Even if she's acquitted, the suspicion won't go away any time soon.

If this forum is anything to go by, a large section of the population will still think she is guilty and I wouldn't feel comfortable for a long time if I was her.

I don't think people will be accepting her lunch or dinner invitations for a very long time, if ever. Then again, she didn't entertain very much before this all happened. I remember reading that her in-laws were surprised to be invited to lunch because she had never done it before.

Even if she was my best friend and I firmly believed in her innocence, I'd think twice before letting her pour milk on my bran flakes.

It was probably EP escaped from prison to destroy evidence and then returned to prison again. JMO

So many lives affected by her poor decisions and actions. I for one hope that she doesn't get the chance to walk past the black tarps of shame.

I'm going to guess, verdict about 10.30 am today.

I wonder though if it’s been enough time to go through all the evidence and the judge’s instructions
