I keep forgetting that the only pertinent information LE has shared with the public is that:
The relatives became ill due to suspected death cap poisoning.
EP didn’t get sick (hospital did confirm a fifth person, likely EP, came in with gastric complaints).
LE retrieved a food dehydrator from a tip.
EP’s statement was not an official police statement and was released to the media before police could examine it.
Everything else has come mainly from EP herself and an anonymous friend of SP.
Deputy Police Commissioner Steendam seems miffed that EP and her lawyers released the statement to the media and deemed it unhelpful to the investigation. Hopefully that won’t affect what LE decides to share with the public going forward.
Victoria's second highest ranking police officer has said the leaking of a statement from Erin Patterson about a mushroom meal thought to be linked to the deaths of three people is 'unhelpful'.
