An online "friend" said that EP had worked as an accountant, and for the Dept of Defence. There has been no confirmation of this, by anyone else, that I have seen.

Another anonymous person claiming to be a friend of Ms Patterson provided more details about her life in an online forum which was shut down by site administrators.
The source claimed Ms Patterson had previously worked as an accountant and with the Department of Defence.

“She's meticulous and very smart," the person wrote.
“Her whole family are extremely smart people.”
The so-called "ex-friend" claimed to have met Ms Patterson online through a true crime group but never met up with her face-to-face.

EP's comments in this article aren't exactly endearing. She comes across as very arrogant IMO.

From the little I’ve read about Erin P in various MSM articles: She’s not a very likeable villain, as far as villains go!

IMO

Does that mean she’s a murderer? No. Not necessarily.

Yes, her air traffic controller stint has been confirmed by a former co-worker and by an Airservices Australia spokesperson.

I, too, was wondering if she classified this as her Dept of Defence job. Airservices Australia is a wholly owned govt entity.

Their website mentions the Dept of Defence - with regard to the DoD conducting their own military aircraft traffic control.

Sounds like it could possibly be an exaggeration for bragging purposes?

On the other hand DOD work is secretive in nature. People often have a cover job?

‘Not quite right’: Accused mushroom murderer’s lonely life

Behind a paywall, I think. Posting it here for those who subscribe.

The main thing I got out of that article (much of it is a repeat) is that EP took lots of sick days and often left early from her air traffic controller position. This landed her - and her air traffic controller boyfriend - in trouble.

Well of course it must be a very stressful job, maybe that's how some air traffic controllers cope.

I wonder if Erin’s alleged DUI offence in her young days occurred before or after the ATC job?

She’s been described here in the article as having been abrasive, acerbic, and it was said that whilst undertaking her ATC course profram she frequently offended people, although perhaps unwittingly so.

It was said that Erin didn’t gather with her fellow ATC colleagues/students to watch Sept 11 unfold on a television set, she sat alone in another room instead.

I was wondering if that was why she 'abruptly' left the position after about a year (as stated in one of their previous articles). Maybe EP was smart enough to do the work, but it was too stressful.

I think I remember a documentary years ago about air traffic controllers and it did say that many don't stay very long in the job due to the stress.

Spoiler alert: I feel somewhat less informed after listening to Associate Professor Mallett’s two cents.

Allow me to paraphrase the ABC News Daily episode regarding the Leongatha case(s):

She said something about sub justice and this assumption that the public that choose to comment on this case via social media (et al) will be less inclined to adhere to sub judice than journalists reporting for MSM. I don’t agree, I think certain media outlets have been pretty liberal, even after EP was arrested and after sub judice was in place. Moo

Xanthe discussed the fact that this case is high profile. Yep, it is.

The plan is to have a jury trial in Victoria, ok yeah we figured.

It’s a fascinating case - right. Of course it is.

IMO

I’m keen to hear your feedback about this little mini-episode, if any of you are happy to spend 12 minutes of your life listening to this fascinating content.

Heck I’m even happy to hear your feedback about my feedback…
Xanthe Mallet would go to the opening of an envelope imo

In my opinion, wherever she chose to go, they would be lucky to have someone of her calibre and reputation.

Hi BearBear,

I’m not sure as I don’t know her but I’m just speaking to the article that was published in the Herald Sun.

I suppose, with sub judice in place the Sun are just providing some background / personal history information to enable readers to have a deeper understanding of the perspective provided by her former colleague(s) from her ATC workplace.

Aka: Slow news day.

sorry ellery, my comment wasnt aimed at you:), i was just imagining her at work with everyone hysterical watching the 911 horror and her sitting calmly in another room with a cup of tea, rolling her eyes, wishing she was at home,
the media little bits of background info often seem biased and trying to paint her as a certain way, but still intresting to read:)

No need to apologise! And I agree, it does seem like a little bit of a negative portrayal of this alleged murderer.

I found it interesting to read, also.

I sort of wonder if they meant acerbic as in “sharp and forthright,” related to E. Patterson’s manner of speaking, or as in sour-tasting and bitter, which is the traditional and standard meaning of the adjective.

IMO

Pooooosibly.... but I'm thinking of her driveway interview, and how... histerical she kind of was

Not necessarily mutually exclusive... but usually mutually exclusive? For some one to not like drama and be a bit dramatic themselves?

I hope the defence and or prosecution do a psych eval because I am dying to know how she ticks

She seems to me to fit a couple of possible diagnoses
