The cynic in me suggests that it's a prop suggested by her defence team.

Meanwhile: 2 Kings 4:39-41

I agree with this theory :)

I somehow doubt Jesus is going to help her out of this mess :D

I think it's to make handcuffs less conspicuous.

Found an older article that says the trial will begin on the 28th April 2025 at Morwell

ACCUSED killer Erin Patterson will face trial in Morwell as early as Monday, April 28 next year, on three counts of murder and five of attempted murder, the Melbourne Supreme Court determined.

It's now next year :) So the trial will be in 13 days time.
We'll all be following here.

Just checking that I didn't make any appointments around that time.
I didn't, but a friend may have invited me to something, will check when I catch up with them later today,

Yes I plan to be following here, no matter what.

A variation on the jumper/sweater draped over the wrists.

The reason I posted the earlier post is because the majority of recent articles only had as you quoted "later this month"
I wanted to post the actual day the trial started.

It seems I was kind of expected to go away for a trip, but I made sure they knew how important this trial is to me.
I think they got it.
Do we know yet how long the trial is expected to be. ?

I found an article from September 2024 that suggests the trial could be as long as 6 weeks!

Country town at the heart of infamous Aussie murder mysteries is braced for an invasion by the world's media - as it prepares to host the blockbuster mushroom poisoning trial

But Patterson's trial will be at the Supreme Court of Victoria in Morwell - 150km east of Melbourne in the state's Latrobe Valley in Gippsland - when it starts on April 28.

That date was set on day one of last week's five-day pre-trial hearing, sparking the instant attention of media outlets all around the world.

Almost all available accommodation within 13km of Morwell - as far away as Traralgon - has now been snapped up by media organisations flocking to the trial.

The trial could run for up to six weeks, with crowds of photographers and camera crews expected alongside a horde of court and crime reporters in Morwell.

True crime podcasters and documentary crews will also converge on the town, which is located among lush green fields and has a population of under 15,000.”

Snap! I googled and just found that same article.
I'm going to follow here but there may be some days when I'll have to catch up later.
Thanks for posting it.

I booked an international trip to a country where phone coverage is spotty at best long before a trial date was set. I'm hoping I don't miss to much

My Samsung android mobile phone has location on and in a hidden section under Maps - it has a Timeline of where the phone has been every day !

So I can look back at a specific date and see how far I travelled - whether in car or walking - which shops I visited and the exact times I was there on a Map and also listed:

eg
Yesterday - (Car) 17km 39 mins - 3 visits
and then, it lists

HOME -
Left at 2.40pm

DRIVING
7.7km. 20 min
2.40pm - 3.00pm

VISITED: (NAME) the address and the time spent there - Coles (supermarket) etc. etc.
Very handy. I checked mine and my timeline option is turned off.

Expanding on the link above……

“In what is one of Victoria’s most highly-anticipated trials in recent memory, Ms Patterson, 50, is expected to appear before a jury in the Supreme Court sitting at Morwell on Tuesday.

Jurors from the Gippsland region are expected to be empanelled on Tuesday morning.

Up to 15 jurors may be selected to allow for illness or unforeseen circumstances during the trial.
Only 12 will decide the verdict — with the final jury to be determined by ballot before they retire to deliberate.

Once empanelled, crown prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC and defence barrister Colin Mandy SC will deliver their opening remarks on Wednesday, summarising their cases and the evidence they expect the jury will hear.“

Found Jesus and a good hairdresser. What a result

I thought both were the hope of her now deceased in-laws and Simon? Kind of a long, tortuous way to achieve it.

Erin Patterson mushroom murder trial puts small Australian town in the spotlight

new

Erin Patterson denies killing three family members. Podcasters and filmmakers are hunting for what they hope will be the case of the century.

“Joining her legal team will be an army of latte-swilling podcasters, documentary filmmakers and reporters on the hunt for morsels of what may be the true crime story of the century.

The circus is unwelcome in Morwell, a town of 14,000 where many already feel scrutinised by prying outsiders. For Sharon Gibson, the deputy mayor, there are many concerns about the trial. “If you want to park in town, it’s going to be bad,” she told The Times. She added that there were only six seats for reporters in the court and that dozens and dozens more expected to watch on big screens in a nearby hall.

Patterson is from Leongatha, in the lush green dairy country 50 miles south. Gibson said the trial in Morwell would lead to resentment. “She’s not from here,” she said. “It’s just that she’s doing the court case here.”

The prospect of a long court fight has drawn true crime podcasters and documentary crews to the time. Among them are teams from the biggest television and radio network, the state-owned Australian Broadcasting Corporation which has started a podcast, Mushroom Case Daily. Its host, Kristian Silva, said: “When the ABC first started covering the deaths related to the Erin Patterson case, audience interest surged. It became clear that this was a story unlike any other, with an audience that transcended typical true crime listeners.”

The Supreme Court of Victoria, which will sit in Morwell for Patterson’s trial, has a reputation as a strict enforcer of pre-trial laws, which tightly restrict reporting. When she appeared at a brief court hearing last week by video link from the Melbourne remand centre, media were able to report little more than that she wore a blue jumper.

The details of the hearing have been suppressed. In a note to the media on Friday, a court official said: “I’m not exaggerating when I say there is no maximum penalty for sub-judice contempt.”

Whether that will deter the documentary teams making a beeline for Morwell remains to be seen. “Reporters, they’ve got a jobs to do, and I respect that,” Gibson said. “But sometimes they can be over-zealous in how they approach it … and they may not be the nicest people either.”
