She stays in a cell in Morwell during the week, and heads back to her holiday home at Dame Phyllis Frost in Melbourne on the weekends. But not this weekend 🤣
I believe her sister is taking a long break, far, far away atm.
MOO
If it should happen that Erin is imprisoned for a long time, I would hope that her sister and Simon would be able to work together so that the children can sometimes meet that part of their family. I do realise that it might involve a lot of holding of tongues and treading on eggshells. But surely it would be best for the children? Plus, would Erin be able to forbid it? What parental rights would she have? And the 16-year-old - he may have rights of his own now?

I think Simon would be given full Parental Responsibility if EP is sentenced, so he would make all decisions regarding school, religion, medical. She would have no parental rights.
IMO

The thing she was most terrified of, IMO. The motive, even.

She already has no parental rights.
She’s on remand though,

“Being remanded in custody means a person is held in prison awaiting trial or sentencing for a criminal offense. This does not automatically mean they lose their parental rights”

The Vic Govt undertook a big study (Aug 2022) into the rights of children when a parent is incarcerated, particularly their mothers. Seeking ways to keep families somewhat cohesive, stressing the importance of maintaining the parent-child relationships.

Looks like there's no verdict today.

And at 16, the son would be old enough to have input into the decision. It has been quoted here that he didn't like to spend much time with his father.

It's 18. If the custodian doesn't allow visitation, let's say, the person in custody and the child doesn't get a say.

According to EP.

During my job back when Lindys trial was on,
I was in retail sales and spoke to hundreds of people a day.

I didn't come across even one other person who thought like me that she didn't do it.

Everyone was convinced, right from the first photos of her, looking not like she was expected to look.

Kind of like the way everyone has pounced on Erin Patterson for how she looked.
From the first look at her, even before any evidence was known, she was guilty, you could just take one look and you knew.

Sadly all these years and it seems nothing has changed.
I'm basing my opinions on Erin's actions, not how she looks.

Yes, 18 is the legal age. But at 16 kids get a say in these situations. He can't be forced to live with his dad if he does not want to. So many 16 yo's living on the streets because of this type of situation.

Agree.

I will say that from the earliest report before we even heard names, I thought it sounded a little implausible but was ready to accept it was a genuine accident.

For me, it was her ensuing statement that did it, all those references to the negative effects it was having on her....... "I" "I" "I".....
And... everyone else is lying but Erin.

Here is the post I saw in the prior thread---copy/pasted it:

Heard on the radio last night that while the jury can keep deliberating this afternoon and Saturday, the verdict can only be handed down during the usual times the court is in session. So if we haven't heard anything by 1.15pm today, we'll have to wait until next week.
<modsnip> Judge Beale set the times and days the jury could deliberate in his directions to the jury. Hence these are now court days. He said the jury could deliberate all of Saturday if they want. Nothing about 1.15 cut off time on Saturday. Anyway, not an issue now. Hope the jury have lots of reading matter for tomorrow.

ADMIN NOTE:

As per our opening post regarding sub judice, it is in effect throughout the entire judicial process.

Have you got a link for that? It's simply not true.
I’ve witnessed this in a large organisation, first hand. It was taken to the Employment Laywer and stuck as it was up to managers discretion. It was very sad given my colleague always did the ‘right thing’. Quite a high profile case too.

He may be re thinking his relationship with his mother after this, though.

She told him he ate lunch “leftovers” when it was likely freshly cooked steaks, not with anything scraped off. She alleges he has forgotten her so-called bush poo. Erin says that the trip caught on CCTV to subway wasn’t her, and the image of her son wasn’t him. She says she foraged, he can’t remember this except for a picture she took once.

Etc.

He must have felt very conflicted and confused and be questioning a lot to do with their relationship
