Having watched every episode of Wentworth, I know all there is to know about women's prisons in Australia. And I can tell you EP will do very well. She will be top dog in no time. She won't be working in the kitchen, she'll be in the laundry room at the steam press.

And Katrina Milosevic (Boomer) should play her in the movie.

I suspect the protective unit she was in was a pod with other inmates with communal spaces rather than solitary.

MOO
Yes, but how did she access the other person's food? Did she do it in front of them?

  • #863
Channel 7 just showed the CCTV of her leaving the Female toilet at the service station, where she immediately goes over to look at food. She doesn't look as though she's suffering any gastric upset.

I am starting to wonder whether some of her wealth came from her cult followers, not just from inheritance.
Is the “cult followers” real - or is it just what some are saying? And if so - has she always had the followers? Is this recorded anywhere?

Frankly, I have no time for Xanthe Mallet.

It's multiple murder for sure. Mass for me connotes a crowd of victims targeted by a shooter, or a bomber, etc. But hey, semantics.
I think a good term for EP might be a Family Annihilator.

How in the heck was she able to contaminate another inmates food??? We all know this is her MO now. Maybe she should spend the rest of her life in solitary.
I shudder to think...

Where did you get that story?

If that claim is true, then I'd be filtering it in the knowledge that prisoners will make all sorts of claims about other prisoners to try to get credits against their prison terms -- or moved to another part of the system.

The DM has published about it already ...

The Herald Sun newspaper reported that, following a dispute with the notorious mushroom chef, a fellow prisoner became sick - and pointed the finger at Patterson.

A Corrections Victoria source confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that Patterson had been given a job in the prison kitchen despite the nature of the allegations against her.

Patterson's supporters insisted that the prison poisoning allegation was baseless.

Channel 7, have pictured Simon, with one of his children, leaving his home, and driving away.

The church followers, are daily going to the small Baptist Church, where Ian Wilkinson is the pastor.

Allen & Unwin to publish book about trial

The trial has captured global attention, with several in-depth projects in the works, including several documentaries.

This afternoon, Allen & Unwin announced it would publish a book about the trial, written by screenwriter and producer Greg Haddrick.

Haddrick said:

At the beginning, the public was convinced that Erin Patterson was guilty of deliberately murdering her in-laws.

But as the murder trial continued, genuine doubt arose that it may have been a dreadful accident after all. There are so many details omitted from the media’s daily summaries of the proceedings that make this a much bigger story than people realise.

Nationals leader says case has ‘captured the nation’s attention’

The Nationals leader, David Littleproud, has just been on the ABC where he was asked about the Patterson trial. He said it was important for politicians to be careful of commentary.

Littleproud said:

This case has captured the nation’s attention for so long. I think it’s important the judicial system has been allowed to create that environment for a fair trial. And a jury of Ms Patterson’s peers have found her guilty.

Now, whether she moves forward with an appeal is her judicial right, you need to respect that. I think what we need to learn from this is obviously without having seen the evidence in any great deal, I think it’s important that politicians don’t delve into some of the commentary.

Channel Nine to air hour-long special about mushroom case

Channel Nine has also announced a one-hour special that will take viewers inside the courtroom, that will air tomorrow night.

In a statement, Channel Nine said:

This one-hour special, filmed over the course of the trial, delivers the full story as you’ve never heard it, with previously unseen recounts from the proceedings and an FBI-style profile analysis of Erin Patterson.

It delves into the mysterious events surrounding the fatal lunch in the quiet country town of Leongatha, where three guests died and a fourth was left fighting for his life after consuming a dish of beef wellington laced with poisonous death cap mushrooms.

While 3 people (very nearly 4) are suffering frightening & agonising deaths with multiple organ failure she was carrying on as normal. Those CCTV images are so damning.

No surprise if she asks if the Netflix royalties on any future true crime doc can be sent to her!

Been given a job in the kitchen?? Seriously?

That's like letting Lucy Letby work in the mother and baby unit.

Wow. That's... wow. Someone should be losing their job over that one.

Scrubbing toilets, doing laundry, sure. But putting an alleged poisoner in charge of the food is ridiculous. Sure, she hasn't been convicted, but to take the risk? It's breaching the duty of care they have for every other inmate.

IMO it's a beat-up by another prisoner jumped on by a tabloid.

Found the answer in other posts- she was given a job in the prison kitchen despite the allegations against her! Hopefully that ends now.

Gosh yes, her poor children (who are the same ages and genders as mine) are such huge victims in this too, cannot even fathom. I hope they have a lot of support from Simon, the remaining family and the whole community.
It is possible that they have known more than we have for quite some time.

Ping: "Now I don't have to limit what I say anymore, which is nice"...

Looking forward to watching this. @PingTheRouter has been at court for the trial.
