A VIC psychologist agrees with my amateur diagnosis:

Why did she do it? Erin Patterson exhibits the traits of a narcissistic personality

(by Mary Hahn-Thomsen, a Melbourne psychologist)

I think a good term for EP might be a Family Annihilator.
I would give the acting battle to Alex Murdaugh. He wouldn't win an Emmy for his performance when the police arrived. But Erin clearly flunked the first week of NIDA: National Institute for Deathcap Art.
OK, this is bringing out the worst black humour I have to offer. I go to the naughty corner. Creighton Waters would applaud Nanette Rogers for her skilful smash up of Erin's nonsense when Erin took the stand.

So much for her kids getting money, she blew it all on protecting herself.

She can't pay a mortgage in prison. The bank is going to get the house.

As ever, the lawyers and the bankers walk away with the cash.

MOO

She actually got 5m.

She doesn't have a mortgage.

The reason Simon's $38/$40 per month in child support is so low is because of her investments. She isn't short of cash.

Do you think that it was simply moving on to another poison to disguise the pattern?
Now the trial is over, I wanted to answer the question again.

I keep asking whether EP read the book The Chalet by Catherine Cooper? Quite a few comparisons imoo. Below is snip and not sure if it will make sense. There is are a few references i'd like to post but don't think can do that.

A quote from the "cook/killer" in the above book ..... "Originally I was going to poison the guests randomly, not kill them, perhaps a dodgy prawn here, some undercooked chicken and a bit of salmonella there. I brought the mushrooms with me, dried, some more poisonous than others. I wasn't really planning to use the big guns, though - not initially".

The "big guns" referred are the DC mushrooms.

SP was made ill three times with something less toxic (and EP is not under any suspicion) so then for the lunch EP used the "big guns" (DC mushrooms).

Then that settles the rumors that her lawyer may have taken it on pro-bono.
Yeah, she did a Chad Daybell. Paid with her real estate.

I don't feel sorry for Erin, I just hope Simon is comfortable enough financially that her kids don't suffer any more than they already are.

As in the past, more than once I find myself in the minority again.

We will see... All those other times the minority view turned out to be correct after innocent people spent years in prison.

It would be very handy to be able to join in the attack, but I just can't, sorry.
I have more than a few doubts.
Dear TootsieFootsie, I am sorry for your disappointment.

And yet she didn't feel that was enough. How greedy! She didn't need Simon's money to send her children to private school. I hope that Simon switches them to a school of his choosing where no one knows them.

I thought she built that house so there's no mortgage on it
fully paid so the bank can't get it?
maybe it's different in Australia ...
the lawyers could have placed a lien on it though I guess
Sounds like from what I can gather, can't read the Australian articles because of paywall, that the lawyers are getting it to pay for her defense.

I don't think they will pursue other charges. Erin is likely going to go away for life. IMO

I just heard on the news that the maximum sentence is 20 years for one count of murder. It theoretically could be 20 + 20 + 20 = 60 years, but it does not seem to work that way in Australia.

An expert on the same news report is thinking a likely sentence would be around 30 or 35 years. That would probably mean a life sentence in the real sense of the word I guess. IMO

She is still legally married to Simon, so there's presumably the matter of property in common, however held.

The lawyers did put a lien on it.

Just before the start of the trial, Erin’s Leongatha dream home – which the council values at $1,175,000 – had a mortgage taken out on it in the name of her law firm, Doogue + George, in a standard move to secure their future fees.

Oh please, does Xanthe do anything other than state the bleeding obvious?
I've never seen her vary. And yet she's always there with her hand up, bouncing in her seat, desperate to give her opinion, as though it's more novel and insightful than the average person who's read a headline or caught the hourly news on the radio.

Well, I guess there's a role for everyone.

IMO, she's the go-to person for comment when literally no else is available.

Another spin on cash for comments.

Well, all things considered. Her lawyers deserve it. They had nothing to work with. They were defending a guilty woman. Really hard to make a case when you have no good defense. Yes, a liar doesn't make a person a killer, but killers are usually always liars! Rare to find an honest criminal.
Colin Mandy did an excellent job.

Correct. There's a discount for telling the court where Phone A is. :p

She's our own version of Jennifer Coffindaffer. Always available for a soundbite.
