He looked very angry when he left the court.
People don't choose a profession where they get to argue for a living because they like to lose. Also, basically nobody likes pushing through a media scrum, it's like swimming with piranhas.

I'm struck by how senseless and needless this all was. Truly no winners
I’m wondering about the house and land? Bulldoze house and build reflection garden for victims of crime VIC?

Someone suggested American actress Kathy Bates. She was excellent in Misery. Plays a psycho.
Her current photo looks absolutely nothing like her, a massive weight loss

IMO, that's more likely the reason. Losing now and then is part of the game. I don't think this case will affect his overall batting average.

Erin Patterson: Mushroom murderer’s message for friend Alison Rose Prior during verdict

Erin Patterson had a three-word message for her friend moments after learning a jury had found her guilty of murdering three of her in-laws and attempting to murder a fourth with a deadly mushroom meal.

She sat emotionless, barely reacting, in the Victorian Supreme Court as she was convicted over the deaths of parents-in-law Don and Gail Patterson and Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson, and the attempted murder of Ian Wilkinson.

But as she was led away by court staff after the verdict, Patterson broke her silence to tell friend and supporter Ali Rose Prior “see you soon”.

Ms Prior faced a media scrum as she left court, confirming to reporters the message Patterson had given her.

She was then grilled about her relationship with the triple murderer and what she knew of Patterson’s feelings about the jury’s decision.

“I am saddened,” Ms Prior said about the guilty verdict, before adding, “it is what it is.”

“I’m her friend. I will visit her.”

Asked if she believed the murder was an “accident”, she responded “Not a question I can answer for you.”
“It is what it is”. But what “is it” Ali? MURDER that’s what “it” is.

It certainly won't hurt his bank balance. So he has that to console him.

I've not had time to fully catch up with everything yet but one thing I will say, there is no way that they wouldn't have found organic DC material from the stuff that was recovered if it had just been roughly chopped.

I suspect this was clear to the jury. They were definitely blitzed.

What Patterson’s new life will look like inside prison

Triple murderer Patterson will return to Dame Phyllis Frost Centre after the jury found her guilty on Monday.

The maximum security prison is home to up to 600 women.

The facility has housed some of Australia’s most infamous female offenders, including teen killer Caroline Reed Robertson, gangland widow Roberta Williams and German drug smuggler Andrea Mohr.

Other high-profile inmates Patterson will be bunking with include pedophile rapist Malka Leifer, black widow Robyn Lindholm, Melbourne crime queen Judy Moran, and serial con artist Samantha Azzopardi.

Patterson will spend her time in a protected unit out of concerns for her safety.

The unit is also home to Leifer and other prisoners who are not allowed to be in other general areas of the prison.

The facility has two types of accomodation: single cells with ensuite facilities or self-contained units.

There are also two special cell blocks housing 20 prisoners each, which are designed for protection prisoners and prisoners with a history of poor behaviour.

The medium security units house ten prisoners in separate rooms while minimum security units house only five prisoners.

Each unit has individual kitchen and dining facilities and prisoners are required to cook and prepare their own meals and do their own washing, ironing and housework.

Groups of prisoners share activity areas and there is a quiet area for reading and writing.

Formerly known as the Deer Park Metropolitan Women’s Correctional Centre, the prison opened in August 1996.

The government took control of the facility in late 2000 and it is now managed by Corrections Victoria.

It was renamed after Dame Phyllis Frost, who was a well-known campaigner for women prisoners.

What happens to Erin Patterson now?

7NEWS reporter Estelle Griepink has provided insight into what is expected to happen to Patterson now.

“Because she has been found guilty, she’s been taken from her custody box in the court through what we believe is a lift into a tunnel that connects to the police station,” Griepink said.

“She’ll be put in that prison van and she’ll travel to Dame Phyllis Frost. And there we are, unlikely to see her again until about August.

“That’s when her next court hearing has been scheduled. So of course, if she was found not guilty, she’d walk free. But now that she’s been found guilty, the next part in the court process is to set a plea hearing or a pre-sentence hearing.

“That’s when we’re expecting to hear victim impact statements from family members affected by this tragedy. And then after that, we’ll proceed to sentence.

“But sometimes that takes a while. So the first hearing will be in August, and that’s just a mention to discuss these proceedings going forward. But she potentially could appear at that in person. So she would need to be brought in a prison van for that as well.”

The Australian notes that Patterson's fellow inmates will include such delightful people as crime family murderer Judy Moran and sexual abuse pervert Malka Leifer, just to mention two.

Same, she lived a full life and was loved by so many (same as the other victims) and was taken too early by Erin Patterson's evil and senseless actions.
I have seen the victims referred to as "elderly" several times - it may not have been here, can't remember. Anyway, I beg to differ! And Heather was only 66, I don't think that's "elderly" by anyone's standards!

I thought it was put in an e-waste bag? Regardless, what a lovely shiny new dehydrator which cost $220 - nobody innocent would dispose of this, IMO.

She didn't even bother to take the stickers off the trays before using the dehydrator. What a grotty woman.

I doubt she can. eg IIRC, people praised Meryl Streep's accent when she played Lindy Chamberlain. I didn't. Australian accents are many and varied, also mostly not as "Aussie" as they once were. Plus we have plenty of fine Australian actresses (sorry, must be politically correct, actors). So why bother with an American, or other? And she doesn't need to be middle-aged, as a movie would likely begin when she was in her 20's. MOO
Toni Collette would be perfect. She’s the right age, a brilliant actress and Australian.

Ah...... "The Serenity"
So she gets to cosy up to paederasts and snitches and child killers for the foreseeable future. She'll certainly be surrounded by plenty of selfish, spiteful people who know how to hold a grudge. She'll either hate it or fit right in.

In regards to the crime, I agree.
I regards to the trial, the lawyers are the only winners, but the victims and their families received justice and a chance to put their lives back together in the absence of a monster.

Yes, but also a woman who is facing trial for murder by poisoning food.

IMO, only a complete moron would tamper with the food of another prisoner under those circumstances.

IMO either the story is utter BS, or perhaps maybe another prisoner did tamper with someone's food and then conveniently pointed the finger at Patterson.
She’s in isolated section of prison remember, for her own protection. Only with one or two others She hangs with Malka Leifa, child sexual abuser.

I may have mentioned a surgeon that I know who spoke to me about certain operations that fellow surgeons describe as being 'heroic' -- as in so risky as to be almost crazy to perform.

I guess there is likely a parallel with barristers as regards cases they agree to take on. Within legal circles I think Mandy would have scored highly for his performance on what I (a non-lawyer) would have considered to be a hopeless case.

See my later post quoting an article in the Herald-Sun. The story is a crock.

Even now, I find it hard to get my head around it all and how cold blooded Erin Patterson was. :(
Yep, that’s what I said about jurors finding it difficult to even get their head around. How could a human be so cruel? Well here is: Exibit A (murderer)
