Wow, just wow! We heard parts of this reported but to read it in its entirety is mind boggling.

Erin, the owner of a large new mortgage free house and at least one property (townhouse in Glen Waverley) that we know of is complaining about not receiving $15,000 in family tax benefit anymore? Saying it was her only income since she didn’t have a job as she took time off to care for her children (her children were around 10 and 13 then, not small children!)
This victim mentality and greed just makes me sick, what a vile person.
She also didn't want to "frighten" her not-small children by pulling them out of school to have them tested for the toxins at the hospital. I can understand a small child being frightened, but not when they are teenagers!

benched means fired?

Well, not actively working in a high-pressure situation.

Like in sports, benching means you're still on the team, but not on the field. Not playing.

I get that prisoners need excercise, fresh air and something to pass their free time, but c'mon!

Maybe they're used as an incentive or reward for those prisoners who really are trying.....?

Now that we are getting to see some of the detailed evidence I am even more impressed by the work of the police, the prosecution and especially the jurors.

IMO there can be no doubt whatsoever of Patterson's guilt. None at all.

And if Mandy was not aware that he had a pathological liar as a client, then he should be now.

trying to do what?
it's not like they have any choice about the rules in there

Trying their best to behave and turn around what is left of their lives, I guess.

There have been cases where the enforced time to reflect has brought about genuine change, and they then work to make a positive difference even though behind bars for life.

That's all I was thinking.

'Large sentence' awaits triple-murderer mushroom cook

After enduring her first night in prison as a convicted triple murderer, Erin Patterson might spend the rest of her days behind bars.

The 50-year-old mother of two was found guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder yesterday after a long trial.

Her estranged husband Simon's parents, Don and Gail Patterson, 70, and aunty Heather Wilkinson, 66, all died in hospital days after Patterson served them beef Wellington parcels laced with death cap mushrooms in July 2023.

There are reward systems in prisons to encourage inmates to behave themselves, especially the psychopaths who are the basis of most of management problems in prisons.

One example that comes to mind is serial killer Ivan Milat who was allowed a TV in maximum security so that it could be withdrawn if he acted up.

Maybe she could become a born again Christian? 🤔

"We've heard during the cross-examination and examination in chief that there are some mental health concerns for Ms Patterson.
I don’t mean to be insensitive here. But I really cringe at her as a prisoner having ‘mental health concerns’ when she’s caused grief for generations of people and an entire town. I honestly think it’s a joke

I can't believe the nerve of her to ask for special duvet covers in jail, well maybe I actually can! Hope she's cold for the rest of her life.

One. Single. Word.
Still.
Normal people love their children. No need to use the word still, still indicates you love them in spite of something bad, distasteful, embarrassing etc. It is a statement perhaps better suited to coming out of her kids mouths, if indeed it's true that they do. They could certainly be excused for being confused about their feelings towards her right now, and going forward.
She wasn't possibly asked, "DID you love your children?", was she?

The "still" would make sense then.

Or maybe she wasn't asked that, but that was what she thought she was asked?

That was a strange way to answer that.

She was planning on killing 5 at that lunch ..!

I'm sure her main regret, aside from getting caught, is that her main target, her estranged husband Simon, never showed up for his poisoned Wellington.

And was confident she would get away with it

She has traits of being a sociopath/psychopath

Both lack empathy and concern for others

But psychopaths are more likely to engage in violence without thought about its consequences or the harm it brings to others

Psychopaths often engage in criminal, cruel, or socially irresponsible behavior, including lying, stealing, or being violent or abusive toward others.

Because psychopaths have no empathy for a person’s needs or rights, they also feel no remorse, even when their actions harm others.

These combined traits and deficits mean that psychopaths are likely to engage in crime, violence, abusive behavior, and additional forms of cruel or dangerous behavior

My feeling is that she would have continued with the poisoning if she had been let off

Whether in drinks or food, to anyone who crossed her, including Simon.

I agree with you.

Lets hope her defence doesn't go down this track after her sentence has been handed down

It outlines 4 episodes of illness with Simon, he made a spreadsheet, worked out they were all after he’d eaten with Erin

The first episode was November 2021 after he ate spag Bol from a Tupperware container and he was hospitalised for 5 days with dehydration with kidney impairment. The episode in May 2022 was after a curry and that was when he needed the bowel resection and ICU stay. In Sep 2022 he ate a chicken wrap she gave him and was hospitalised with seizures and was unable to move except for neck, lips and head.

In Feb he was given cookies supposedly made by their daughter, but Erin kept asking if he’d eaten them so he threw them out.

Simon told Don about his suspicions and then his brother and sister and had previously told his GP. Don dissuaded Simon from talking about his concerns stating it could create issues in the way people related with Erin and the family.

Apparently when the guests got sick Don collected a sample of his vomit and asked it to be tested - they were immediately suspicious

The rest is covered by Otto.
This is so much more heartbreaking. It's one thing to go through this horrible medical event that you know is very likely to kill you, but to suspect that it was a deliberate act by a so called loved one..... Devastating.

A travelling circus

And a circus, at times, it was: people were chased out of court after trying to take selfies with Patterson, or, at one point, reaching out to touch her hand. Another man was marched out after directing a protest at Justice Christopher Beale. An article that was to be about the “media circus” breached a suppression order, as did multiple other publications.

There was a man with rainbow coloured hair and a matching coat, who runs a business giving people “unicorn manes”. A woman who runs a popular true crime Instagram account shared the front row with novelist Helen Garner.

Patterson spent week nights inside the Morwell police cells. Every day of the trial, she walked about 30 steps along a passageway, no wider than three metres, from the back of the station into the court building.

I guess we can expect a book by Helen Garner

Great, i hope Helen Garner will write a book as her insight and writing is brilliant!

Is this sarcasm? There really should be a sarcasm font.

How about an extra dessert or access to an additional book? Or how about just a "Well done, Erin". Or maybe just nothing. These are the rules and you follow them. Full stop. Period.

Most are beyond redemption and I think Erin falls into that category IMO.
