Do all toilets in petrol stations have a sanitary bin, maybe Whatever It Was went in there?
She took ages to get out of her car, headed straight to the toilets, from the time the door opened it was about 5-6 seconds max. Bye, bye powdered DC's imo, into the bin or sanitary bin or flushed.

And so! Very clever Dr Webster!! to call the police about "the poor panicked patient who they so urgently needed to retrieve for treatment..."

And then quickthinking Dr Webster to the fore once more and got the police to retrieve the samples from the bin.

Dr Webster caught her in her own web of lies...

Well Erin sure got his message loud & clear. That's when her panic set in IMO. I remember Dr Webster saying " Better scared than dead " about the kids & poor Erin said he was being mean or rude or something to that effect, but no Erin he CARED, unlike you.

ER staff tend to pick up BS when it's served to them IMO, it's part of the job ;)

Simon Patterson’s astonishing admission that almost derailed Erin Patterson’s trial

The revelation came during Simon Patterson’s time on the stand.

“There is a matter I need to raise with you in the absence of the jury,” Justice Beale said to Patterson, as the court resumed following a lunch break.

“I made certain assumptions and I just want to confirm that those assumptions are correct.

“The spouse of an accused person has a right to object to giving evidence. I’ve assumed, that, from the history of this matter, you’ve been informed of that right previously and were willing to give evidence nonetheless.

“Now, are those assumptions correct?”

Simon responded “no”, prompting quiet gasps from members of the media.

Justice Beale offered Simon the opportunity to have some time to consider whether he was still willing to participate, but the father-of-two said he was happy to proceed.

“I’m willing to give evidence,” he said.

“I think if I had of been offered that before, I still would have said the same thing. I’m quite comfortable about that.”

Hard to believe this event, the Wellington business was her first rodeo... she was so successful at it... 75% success rate, a lot higher than most killers,. and with such a dicey process, the mushrooms. She had no way of discerning the level of toxicity each mushroom contained. She could have picked some duds, but no. . She was on the money each time... and so persuasive in the witness stand, her poor barrister must have made her sign a waiver, absolving him of responsibility if she took the stand,, but she did, she was convinced she could tell a great story

I do not believe this was her first shot at this offing of those who annoyed her ,.. there have been a few samples given of those she poisoned who lived, and those who's food she interfered with who lived, but until they exhume a few bodies ...some relatives, some folks who got up Erin's nose, we won't know.....

NOTE ..This does contain some disturbing content

The doctor who notified police about Erin Patterson has spoken for the first time since the guilty verdict, revealing the moment he realised the mushroom murderer was a “disturbed sociopathic nut bag”.

Dr Chris Webster dialled triple zero in the morning of July 31, 2023, after Patterson discharged herself from Leongatha Hospital within five minutes of being there.

“It was time for the nurse to begin observations and I was managing the other critically unwell patients,” he said.

Dr Webster vividly recalled the moments of that morning, telling The Age that he was managing the symptoms of the Wilkinsons, who were suffering from what first appeared to be regular food poisoning, until a frantic call came in from Dandenong Hospital.

Wow, he had some choice words to say, but I can't say that I blame him. The bold statement must be a trying time in his career. I'm sure he's seen patients die before, but to have such a lovely older woman thank him as she was whisked away to her death must be one that lingers. Then to see what unraveled in the months and years afterwards, to the verdict yesterday, he must have been really needing to vent. I hope he's OK.

She saw that look on his face that he wasn't buying a word of it and she knew she was a goner. Couldn't get outa there quick enough could she.

Agreed, though I believe usually the lies are in the realm of "I haven't taken any drugs" and "I fell backwards onto it while naked" rather than lying about poisoning four blameless relatives.

MOO

You're spot on, IMO!

"Medical notes from emergency doctor, Dr Constance Peterson, included details from Simon Patterson, that the four had attended lunch at his ex-wife’s house where a meal including beef Wellington with mushrooms had been served.

But despite that, Dr Peterson was still of the opinion that the condition was likely due to food poisoning.

That wasn’t enough for Dr Morgan."

I like how there were 23-24 pages before the verdict came through and now we're at 51 pages all written after, just over 24 hours later. I hope this thread doesn't lose steam; I think there will be much more uncovered about Erin Patterson's history and behaviours before the crimes she committed. Really have enjoyed the discussions here, you have all been very kind and hilarious and insightful. I'm glad that there is finally justice for Don, Gail and Heather, real salt of the Earth taken way too soon by convicted triple-murderer Erin Patterson. May Ian, SP and the kids find peace

Does anyone know if the interim suppression order has been lifted? Apparently there was/will be a hearing about it today.

The 10 hurdles Erin Patterson needed to jump. She hit every one

In a career spanning four decades of reporting on trials, John Silvester has often pondered the elusive nature of “the whole truth,” a question he revisited this week as Erin Patterson was handed a guilty verdict in the high-profile mushroom poisoning case.

A great article by Sly

OR
She didn’t like seeing her son bonding with grandad (tutoring) and possibly resenting possibly her son becoming more religious, or/and seeking grandad for advice or as a mentor ? She would be losing control of him
IMO, of course.
Yes, I agree. She likely felt they were interfering with her 'parenting' style. She didn't want the kids to become religious and bond closely with Simon's family, imo.

I think she wanted to move on from their influence.

Could she refuse to attend her sentencing? Or is Australia sensible about this and doesn't allow people to refuse?

I’ll delete the original article. Everyone from Australia can pretend they didn’t read the content, but, to be fair, it’s all over the internet now,
