Australia Australia - Amesha Rajapakse, 31, Westmead, NSW, 26 Aug 2014

I couldn't work out if the scream was from Amesha or from her brother when he found her?

If it was Amesha, that was at 6.30am on the Wednesday morning - where had she been all night?

Yes, I thought the scream was from when Amesha was found. At least, that is what it seemed like from the initial reports. Times seem to be shifting around though, other than the discovery of Amesha at 7:30am.

As another point, I notice in the Daily Telegraph photos that police have an officer who may be more culturally in sync working on this case.

bbm Why are times shifting around so much? Why are all of the facts shifting around so much? I've never seen such alterations and changes in msm before.....

Me either. New details include thin scarf and she was found behind a wall.

So Amesha was agitated and pacing in the foyer! I didn't pick that up before. I thought she was in the hallway near her front door, for some reason :blushing:

Building manager Tom Hailey said security footage captured the woman pacing back and forth in the foyer of a building inside Monarco Estate about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

"It looked like she was concerned about something; she appeared agitated. She kept going from back to the front of the foyer," Mr Hailey said.

Why would she pace in the foyer if she was going out to buy milk and eggs? That sounds more like she was waiting for someone to come and pick her up imo.

Or needed to remove herself from the apartment for a bit, but it was raining hard outside.

Ah, yes!! That also makes sense.

What if she was trying to get away from somebody in the apartment and so she took off quickly, without her security swipe. And then it was raining hard so she was pacing, hoping it would hurry up and clear so she could get out of there.

That makes sense to me.

MOO

I also don't understand why no family members reported her missing during that evening, after she didn't return from the shops. She left at 7.30pm - and they conducted their own search....why did no one call the police? That strikes me as odd. jmo

And remember this bit .....

"trying to establish whether the woman had been reported missing days earlier."

Has now been removed from the article, but Google still shows it on a search.

I think that police may be keeping a bunch of stuff under their collective hat.

I mean, the other possibility is that this was a completely random killing. It's dark at 7.30pm and she was walking alone. I don't know how busy it is around there though? If it's like inner-city Sydney there are people everywhere all the time. Is it like that in Westmead?

Yes, I haven't forgotten that bit at all.......

Maybe all the good reporters are in Brisbane where all the real murders are happening.
(Tongue in cheek) :D

<modsnip>

MSM said that Amesha is Buddhist.

That area of Westmead doesn't have a lot of pedestrians. But near the hospitals a few minutes drive away it's a lot busier. Not inner city sydney busy though.

All I know of Sikhism is from the movie Bend it like Beckham.

I'm pretty sure I read that Amesha was Sinhalese Buddhist - not Sikh. Sikh people are typically from northern Indian I think, rather than Sri Lankan. Their cultures are quite different I think. The policeman in the turban in the Telegraph photo was Sikh, so maybe that's why you thought Sikh!
