Australia - Brenda and Lynton Anderson, married, both 94, allegedly murdered a year apart, South Australia, 2022-2023 *daughter charged*

So she had a panic attack before court? And the allegations of uncontrolled sleep apnea, causing high blood pressure and making her diabetes harder to control were more like speculations, which have now been proven to be incorrect ?

It's all very dramatic.
Sorry to be blunt, but it seems a farce IMO.

Sorry to be blunt, but it seems a farce IMO.

She is apparently angling heavily for home detention. Her lawyer is right behind her.

When RP was returned to jail, after the hospital excursion, she asked to "split her insulin" and was refused. She asked for a dr and was told there wasn't one available that day.

She may be genuinely panicking about her access to insulin (or not) but she and her lawyer are definitely trying to make RP's insulin access, or lack of it, a big issue.

But to me it seems that the prison authorities feel that she is being treated in the same manner as any other prisoner with diabetes.

Doctors attribute alleged poison murderer Raelene Polymiadis’ court collapse to stress – and not diabetes, court told

(Splitting insulin means having 2/3 dose in the morning and 1/3 dose in the evening. I looked it up.)

"The court heard she had suffered the medical emergency while in the court cells before her hearing, with a cell mate calling out for help.

Adam Spicer, nursing director at SA Prison Health told the court the Adelaide Women's Prison had been made aware of Polymiadis' condition upon her admission.

He said the prison had discussed with her the possibility of moving to a unit that would allow her to prepare her own meals, ultimately giving her more autonomy over he health, but she had declined the offer.

Polymiadis' lawyer Marie Shaw KC told the court her client had asked for the bail hearing to proceed in her absence.

She previously asked the court to grant her home detention bail on the basis she wasn't receiving adequate care for her diabetes while in custody."

Get a really bad vibe about RP. As for her diabetes, she can easily test her blood sugar levels regularly throughout the day by doing a finger prick and getting a reading. The dose of insulin by injection can just be adjusted if necessary. I’m sure she would’ve had advice from her doctor or diabetes educator on how to manage it regardless of her location ie home, work, holiday and even prison. Her so called diabetes dramas just show how manipulative she is.

Not a lot of sympathy being shown to the accused, is there? I wonder how all the family feel about her?

Interestingly, the paywalled articles that I have been reading say that her family is supporting her. I am not sure if that means her immediate family (husband, kids) and/or her siblings.
Something like this may have the potential to split a family. What a nightmare for them.

This article says how a large contingent of RP's family and friends were in the public gallery at court. And that those "supporters" sat away from SA Police and Major Crime squad detectives who attended the hearing.

Perhaps they are there for a sticky beak and want to hear first hand about the proceedings and evidence. Their presence may not be to show their support.

Devoted to her faith, the 62-year-old was said to be a respected pillar of the community in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

Friends described her as loyal, and a court heard how she had 'lived a blameless life'.

As she was arrested on Tuesday and charged with administering lethal doses of insulin to her elderly mother last year, and then her father just over two months ago, a close friend defended her against online trolling saying 'innocent until proven guilty'.

A woman accused of murdering her parents by injecting them with her own insulin has fronted court again, with more details emerging from the prosecution case.

A decision on whether she will be granted bail is expected to be handed down tomorrow.

I dunno... I do feel quite snarky about this woman. She's quite the whiner, while, most likely, very capable of co-managing her insulin needs. Keep her in jail.

imo

Yes nhmemorymaker, definitely not all rings true for me. She visited her father the day before he was found unconscious by a carer. Her phone records show she had googled Oxazepam the same day she visited and the drug was found in Mr Anderson’s toxicology results. RIP to the parents.

I don't know what to think about this lady, but "custody could cause hardship"? Really? Not unbridled joy then?

"Ms Polymiadis will return to court in December."

What are the lyrics? Comes to mind when I think if the accused --

Don't stand, don't stand so, don't stand so close to me --

Keep at least an injection's distance away from her at all times.

I Remy am trying to keep an open mind. Assisted suicide. Mercy killing. Angel of mercy. Angel of death. Carrying out last wishes. I don't know what to think but an investigation is proper, and where laws are broken, conviction.

We'd do better as a species if we just kept our hands to ourselves, unless given permission.

JMO.

There is Assisted Dying available in S.A. so I can’t understand why anyone would ‘mercy kill‘ on their own when there’s legal avenues that could be explored to achieve the same. I would have thought that the whole family would have come forward and confirm it was Mr Anderson’s wish. IMO, there were other motives in play.

Wow! $600,000 Bail required for Home Detention. How many families could manage that amount?
Interesting that she has been released into her son’s care rather than her husbands.
