Daniel Morcombe trial: What the jury wasn’t told about Brett Cowan
It can now be revealed that Cowan:
TOOK a seven-year-old boy from a playgroup, sodomized & molested him in a toilet block, then attempted to choke the boy when the child threatened to tell his mother; boy saved by unknown woman (see 60mins tonight);
LEFT a second child, aged six, dumped for dead in an old, rusty car after raping, bashing, cutting & attempted murder in Darwin; bleeding boy staggered into petrol station with life threatening injuries; (his chest had been crushed, he had also been strangled);
ADMITTED to sexually abusing up to 30 children while a child himself by luring them into the change rooms of a local swimming pool.
These incidents have been widely reported post Sentencing of Cowan. However, there is more:-
SEXUALLY assaulted children in the lead-up to Daniel’s disappearance in a series of incidents not reported to police;
FORCED a girlfriend into a bizarre and violent kidnap and rape role play years after killing Daniel; and
SUBJECTED partners to violent sex acts, including repeatedly choking one into unconsciousness.
IMO it's time to ask why these events were not reported earlier? to Cowan's parole officer? police? What was the reasoning behind NOT REPORTING? The
adult girlfriends had a responsibility: males may act out/role play their fantasies on their girlfriend/wife/partners because its safe; she/he won't tell etc. The girlfriends know this behaviour is out of the ordinary, threatening, not pleasurable, etc. Jill Meagher's rapist & murderer, Adrian Bailey, reportedly acted out the sexual fantasy which included choking on a prostitute in the weeks leading up to the rape & murder of Jill.(See Jill Meagher thread) JMO.
Do we need to start intervention by educating adult women/men about their bodies being used for male sexual role plays which may harm/threaten the 'well being' of others? Do we start early intervention by including a sexual/mental health topic in secondary education on sexuality for students?
