GUILTY Australia - Daniel Morcombe, 13, Woombye, QLD, 7 Dec 2003 - #2

  • #141
I'm pretty certain it's not Brett Cowan, it was never stated as being him, but the photo was on the MAKO profile for Daniel Morcombe so I've wondered about his relevance, all it said was "this guy could expose multiple pedophile rings in the Sunshine Coast". Slightly scruffy and dangerous looking man. Cowan on the other hand was well disguised as a normal 'bloke' most of the time.

Good point. Cowan seems to be a master at external transformation, doesn't he? He adapted his appearance, chameleon like, to suit whatever environment he was in.

I find that really alarming too - so adept at going under the radar in all sorts of different social environs.:scared:

The reasons why they're not made public all revolve around civil libertarians protecting the "rights" of criminals & a fear that a register would lead to vigilantism.

One of our states, West Australia, is currently trialing a register. You can quite easily access a handful of photos of "missing sex offenders", those who have disappeared off the radar, but you have to jump through some hoops to get to listings in the area in which you live.

https://www.communityprotection.wa.gov.au/

I hope the WA one is deemed 'successful' and is permanently implemented.

But it really does need to be nationwide. As we've seen in Cowan's case, these guys just move on when it all gets a bit much and disappear into other states........It's just too easy for them to get away and start again:scared:

Thanks Marly for the info on a public register. Here is another link;

The Morcombe's family lawyer is pushing for 'Daniel's law', a public registry of sex offenders in QLD. I really hope some good comes from this tragic failure of the justice system. It scares me to think these scum can walk anonymously alongside my children.

This is a very thought provoking article and I thoroughly agree. Do people honestly think they are morally superior, by treating violence WITH violence? Yes, Brett Cowan is ill and what he did was unspeakable. But it's simply not the answer and you lower yourself to the level of the attacker.

Simply looking to lay blame at one level may satisfy an emotional need, but won't bring the degree of awareness that Daniel's death deserves.

Some of the social media commentary has been truly distressing.

Calls for fellow prisoners to rape Cowan as if that would give him what he deserved are indicative of a deeply worrying mindset.

There is even a t-shirt now doing the rounds, Cull pedophiles, not sharks, a call both for capital punishment and less brutal management of an apex predator.

What should be clearly understood is that many of the "tough on crime" approaches being called for are effectively revenge for acts already committed.

They won't give perpetrators one pause for thought except perhaps to kill and cover up.

Rational and informed heads are needed for Daniel's death to truly make a difference.

Absolutely sickening & a darn good reason why we need that sex offenders register!!...

March 18, 2014

PEDOPHILE Mark Trevor Marshall has allegedly been caught with names and photos of children — and maps of suburbs — in his cell just weeks before a hearing about his potential release.

SA Police are investigating the source and nature of items allegedly discovered in the prison cell occupied by Marshall.

The Advertiser understands the material allegedly found in Marshall’s cell includes clippings from magazines featuring photographs of children.

It is further understood maps of suburbs were allegedly found in Marshall’s cell, along with other clippings listing the names and ages of children.

This is awful and sickening Marlywings but not a surprise I bet many of these monsters spend their time in jail counting down the days so they can be out abusing again.

There will always be extremists such as those mentioned in the report....they're in the minority. Nothing they say will make a dot of difference anyway.

Majority of folks just want our kids to be safe with the sex offenders, child killers etc off our streets.

It's been shown time & time again they can't be rehabiliatated, so keep them locked up wherever, forever & let our kids be safe.

Louis Theroux made an award-winning doco about a California hospital (read prison) for pedophiles - Coalinga State Hospital. They are locked up there indefinitely – only 13 of them have been released in over a decade since the ‘hospital’ was opened. Disgustingly, 70% of the inmates refuse treatment.

http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Coalinga_State_Hospital

They recognise pedophilia as a serious mental illness/condition … but as at 2007 were unable to fill 26 of the budgeted 37 staff psychiatrist positions … I expect that is because of the typical person’s aversion to pedophiles.

I wish that every state in every country had such a place for these sick, repulsive individuals.

#BREAKING: Queensland to appeal sentence given to Daniel #Morcombe's killer http://bit.ly/1gALcwm #RUSHHOUR pic.twitter.com/X5eNiqP2bV

Queensland Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie will appeal the sentence given to Daniel Morcombe’s killer Brett Peter Cowan because it is not in line with community expectations... Mr Bleijie said “must be appealed because it is manifestly inadequate, is not in line with community expectations and does not set an adequate deterrent”.

IMO this is warranted and welcomed by the community.

Derryn Hinch 'The Human Headline' was on ch7 Sunrise pushing for an extension to 'the human mistake's' sentence and saying the judge should have had him serve his crimes separately.

The secret child protection register, tracked by police, names 4761 Queensland predators. Despite his heinous past, up until last week, Brett Peter Cowan was not one of them.
And that’s because his previous child sex convictions didn’t tick all the boxes.

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/com...mous-queensland-predators-20140319-351la.html

OMG! Well how many other 'predators of children' are not on this secret register? As Madonna King says: "Either way, they throw up a concerning picture of the sheer number of sick and opportunistic pedophiles now roaming our streets"...

"How many children still aren't safe? Madonna King asks why Daniel's killer wasn't on Queensland's child protection register". We need to be thankful to journalists like Madonna King and Derryn Hinch for their persistent follow-up of paedophilia in our community and their championing the cause for legal change.

Firstly, how fabulous is Louis Theroux??!!! I saw that doco - it's truly fascinating.

Secondly, I'm not surprised it's hard to fill the psychiatric positions. And I suspect it's not just because of people's natural aversion to paedophiles. As a therapist, it would be deeply unsatisfying working with this client base because of their resistance and denial. There's just nowhere to really go with them and over time, if you're not seeing your clients benefit from treatment, you can become very disillusioned and dissatisfied as a practitioner. It's such an emotionally gruelling job, you want to be seeing positive outcomes. JMO.:seeya:

And I imagine it would be even more emotionally gruelling knowing that 70% of the inmates won't even see a psychiatrist in the first place.

It sickens me that these repulsive individuals think that their perversions are 'okay' .. or 'not harmful' .. or whatever messed up behaviour-justification they hold onto in their perverted minds.

BBM Yeah, absolutely! They really do think that it's no big deal and that their behaviour is justified.

SO creepy!! I could never work with these guys.......!! Would be impossible for me to remain emotionally objective!!!:banghead:

This is just another digusting sex offender that should be locked away for life....

March 19, 2014

One of Western Australia's worst sex offenders has been arrested for allegedly breaching a supervision order condition, just days after being released from prison.

Police arrested the man, known only as "TJD" for legal reasons, on Wednesday afternoon after alleged breaches of his reporting conditions.

On Wednesday, the offender's release from jail on a 10-year supervision order provoked community outrage, while the state's Attorney-General says he wouldn't have let him out.

The offender was last week freed from prison by a Supreme Court judge.

Commissioner Kevin Sleight revoked an indefinite detention order handed to "TJD" in 2011, after he attacked 13 women, including seven occasions when he used a weapon or replica weapon to threaten his victim into submission.

Great news thanks for posting this news Fuskier. If there are any developments about increasing his sentence please let us know.

Has Cowan launched an appeal of his sentence yet or is it in the works?

Daniel Morcombe's killer should never be released: Sunshine Coast MP Mal Brough
By Bruce Atkinson

Sunshine Coast MP Mal Brough, speaking in Parliament this morning, said Cowan would not have been able to kill Daniel if he had not been released from jail on previous child molestation charges..."The first thing I would say, Mr Deputy Speaker, is when you hurt a child in this way you forfeit your right to be free for the rest of your life."...
