No. Robert Smith was sentenced to 16 years in prison with a chance of parole in 12 years so the earliest he could be released is 2025. (7 years for manslaughter and 9 years on the accessory after the fact charge).

Nowhere near long enough IMO.

The couple's former neighbor Alison Alexander said Robert Smith’s sentence isn’t long enough. "It would never cover for any of it" she said.

I was pleased to hear Robert's father say he agreed with the sentence his son received.

No word on whether Robert's mother and brother attended the hearing.
Robert's mother thought Robert and Kristi should have been allowed to attend Kiesha's funeral.

detective oxford seemed very pleased with the results when interviewed on the news tonight, he and all the officers involved in the case were in court to hear the sentencing.
with time already served, smith could be released in 2023

The man who stood by and watched as his six-year-old stepdaughter, Kiesha Weippeart, died from violent injuries, and then burned and buried her body, has been sentenced to at least 12 years in jail.
Robert Smith, 34, knew that his stepdaughter, Kiesha had suffered a serious head injury on July 13, 2010, but failed to give her medical attention or call for help, leaving her to die a day later.
In sentencing judge Megan Latham's words, Smith then "assumed the primary role in the destruction and burial of the deceased's body".
Her honour sentenced Smith to a maximum sentence of 16 years with a minimum non parole period of 12 years.

It's not enough by a long shot. Is anything enough? I think I could cope with a sentence about 30 years long for such cruel neglect.

Sad thing is that he'll get out and hook up with some other dero chick and have access to her kids... People like that don't change and sadly there's stupid women out there that would take him in... He'd put on the poor me, it wasn't me, it was her Mum, she abused me too, I went to jail and it wasn't my fault...

Robert Smith stood by and did nothing as Kiesha was killed, before he burnt her body and pretended she had disappeared.
But Robert Smith made a 'simple and cowardly' decision to do nothing when his stepdaughter Kiesha Weippeart was knocked unconscious by another person in her western Sydney home in July 2010.
He left her and went to work the next morning as usual.
When he returned home, she was dead.

What do they mean 'outrageous' things being said in the media???

She brazenly stood there telling the media her daughter was missing - knowing full well where she was and why. We know this to be true.
She went to where her daughter was buried and was arrested. We know this is true.

What more has been said? Yes there has been a huge public outcry and she's been labelled a monster, but is that 'outrageous'? I just see it as the truth!

Abrahams pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month, but the plea was not accepted by the Crown, which was determined to try her for murder.

The officer in charge of the murder investigation, Detective Inspector Russell Oxford, said Abraham's guilty plea was the culmination of three years of police work.

'It's almost three years since Kiesha Weippeart died and there's a lot of sadness for the family, justification for the efforts put in by the police,' he told reporters outside court.

The case had taken its toll on the officers involved, he said.

'The hours that we put into this, it was very emotional, very difficult all the way.'

Abrahams will face a sentence hearing next Monday, June 24.

just on channel 10 news, police revealed, when her body was recovered there was evidence little kiesha had received two "upper cuts" which smashed her teeth together and broke her jaw in two places. i hope her mother is put away for a long time.
