I’m curious as to how the magic figure of 1.5 million originally occurred ? Did Team Dawson offer it 1st, thinking it would be slam dunk for bail? Seems a substantial amount for just CD.
Not sure of the process that determines bail amounts.
Their lawyer offered it as surety for Chris’ release:

Accused wife killer Chris Dawson offers $1.5-million bail bond

It’s puzzled me why on earth, if they offered that amount, they wouldn’t have had processes in train to lodge it as soon as bail was granted.

Not sure, and there is not a heck of a lot out there about it ... but I have a feeling that - maybe - bail is calculated in penalty units in NSW (as are fines), plus or minus other factors perhaps.

Eg:
A penalty unit is a number used to equate one unit to a monetary amount. A fine is calculated by reference to a number of penalty units multiplied by the dollar amount per unit. For example if an offence attracts a penalty of 20 penalty units, in NSW this would equate to 20 x $110 which = $2,200

Enforcement of bail requirements
A penalty of imprisonment for a fail to appear offence is not to exceed 3 years and a monetary penalty for an offence against this section is not to exceed 30 penalty units.

Truly, I cannot understand why all this evaluation of homes, money raising, credit squeezing , ratting thru the jam jar stuff was not done, or begun to be done the moment Hedley began asking around in two states. A normal person, guilty or not , would have seen the writing on the wall, the potential for , at some stage, a determination for questions to be asked , and re- asked, and answers demanded, by a lawful authority.

It is hard to believe that Chris, and Paul, and Peter, maintained this idiotic silence, ( as if that would halt all proceedings) and at the same time, fail to round up all available monies, credit, loans , lends, all of it in a nice neat pile, ready for the inevitable!

It convinces me that none of these Dawson blokes are half as clever as they themselves imagine them selves to be. They have blind spots, the huge blind spots of the genetic narcissist.

Either the Dawsons , as a mob, are completely delusional , or / and financially ignorant, and/or simply living in la la land, where by all this current situational uncomfortableness seems to have not even been considered.

They must have all been living in some sort of cloud like area, where normal facts never intrude, people believe what one says forever, wives come and go, children take on surnames and drop them, people move hither and yon, all protected from that terrible realm of reality, where truth, that highly inconvenient concept, occasionally raises it's frightening head and shouts out stuff...
I wholeheartedly agree, they just seem to be so enmeshed as a family that the obvious is obscured.

I think it takes into account the accused's resources and the severity of the crime. In a murder case, because of the severity of the potential sentence, there is considerable temptation to disappear. The bail amount needs to be high to counter that--as high as the accused can stretch, I would think, without being positively out of his range. So an accused who is rich would have to pay a lot more than one who is poor.

I'd say Peter would be an A***hole to work for. His all female staff, makes it easier for him to have complete control. Team Dawson genetics.

I've been wondering what that "land deed" is (not having to prepare any turkey obviously!)

Then I realise it must be a Queensland thing. I only know NSW. Maybe it is like a certificate of title in NSW?...

Looks like the fools are throwing everything at this including Milat.

TEACHER’S PET TWIST: Alternative theory on Dawson murder exposed

Did Ivan Milat kill Lyn Dawson? Top cop trashes theory

The brother of accused murderer Chris Dawson has floated an alternative theory about what really happened to Lyn Dawson. Here’s why it’s not possible.
“Milat is alleged to have killed several women around the same time and in an area Lyn was seen,” Peter Dawson told 7 News in a written statement.

He also pointed to Milat’s penchant for killing hitchhikers, saying “Lyn didn’t drive”.

However, the man who headed the investigation that caught Milat in 1994, Clive Small, has dismissed the idea he could have been in any way involved in Lyn’s death.

We know that CD gave Joanne, Lyn's ring when they married and made her wear Lyn's clothes.
I wonder if he gave any of Lyn's special things to her family, her daughters?

Court documents show that Mr Dawson allegedly murdered his wife between 9pm on January 8, 1982 and 7am on January 9, 1982.

Bed time.

............. she left contact lenses at home, she didn't pursue a $130 pre-paid ophthalmology appointment. Her clothes were left at home, all of them.

Maybe Joanne might know if Lyns glasses were still in the house as well.

We know that the 9pm on 8/1/82 was arrived at by a phone call Lyn had with her mum just prior to that.
Do we know how the 7am on 9/1/82 was determined?

I'm guessing that's when he stated he dropped her off at the bus station in Mona Vale.

Just heard on 9 News Sydney that Chris Dawson won’t be released until Christmas Eve. That sweep pot’s looking good.

Surely this will have Peter Dawson ranting again.

This is truly music to my ears.
This alleged murderer has had a dream run for too many years and is now experiencing what it feels like to be beholden to restrictions.

Sydney court please take as long as you need.
It appears he’s lost those ‘protection connections’ he’s had all these years.

The 70-year-old is "anxious" to get out of jail but will remain in custody after documents submitted by his defence team were rejected by a Sydney court.

Bail stuff up leaves alleged wife-killer ‘devastated’
