Justice Ian Harrison is handing down his judgment. So far, he's found that Chris Dawson's claim Lynette Dawson called him at the Northbridge Baths on the day they were meant to meet there was "a lie".

Aha, justice seems to be coming for CD.

  • #184
Satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that CD's reported telephone conversations with LD are lies

Chris #Dawson is sitting next to his older brother Peter. Twin Paul is also at court for the first time. #Lynette’s family is sitting behind #Dawson, wearing pink in memory of the missing mother. 50 ppl in this court, dozens in a spillover court, glued to the verdict.

The second point raised by the judge worries me - "intentional act" :

He says the case against the accused is "wholly circumstantial" and for Mr Dawson to be found guilty, the Crown must prove beyond reasonable doubt:
  • That Ms Dawson is dead
  • And that Mr Dawson caused her death with an intentional act

For me it has sniffs of guilty verdict so far - anyone else?

There are no subtitles, and my tween come home ill from school, so have to turn sound down. Kids are talking about at their school yesterday
Little rascal read my post on computer asked will he sue his missing wife, I said this is what the court case about the missing wife and what happened to her. Child (On Autism Spectrum) replied "IMO, he would do it to prove she is still alive. Hashtag make note"

The judge is somewhat scathing, no, he is rejecting the proposal that Lynn , who loved her children and home and husband left it all. And then, decided to remain in contact with the one person who had caused this heartbreak. He rejects the idea that Lynn rang regarding needing more time, some time, a lot of time, didn't occur, says the judge....

The intentional act to kill her, in the circumstances where his motive was to continue an unfettered relationship? Seems reasonable. I’m not too worried, I think it might be coming for CD now!

Another big update: Judge rejects Chris #Dawson’s claims #Lynette telephoned him several times after she vanished. More “lies” - according to Justice Ian Harrison.
@9NewsSyd

I’m hearing big deep breaths from Lyn’s family as the judge describes Chris #Dawson’s “lies”.

Satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that LD never telephoned CD after 8/1/82

The judge is of the opinion that Lynn was an intelligent lady, hardly prone to 'running off with a religious sect'... a trained nurse, committed to her children, etc.. he is satisfied that Lynn never rang her husband, and is pretty sure she never left her home voluntarily.

To the bankcard evidence!! he is rejecting Dawson's evidence on the bankcard stuff. Dawson had his own bankcard, he just didn't like Lynn having one of her own...

Lynette did not leave her home voluntarily

Justice Ian Harrison - “I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt Lynette Dawson never telephoned Mr Dawson after the 8th of January 1982”. The Judge said he is also satisfied she “did not leave her home voluntarily”.
