I still think that Marion may have figured out what was happening and rushed back, and was trying to get to her money before thingy did.

I'm still baffled as to what this story that came up about the plot of land with trees on it is - the one he had to put weedkiller on? Is that right? What is this place, it is real? Does anyone have info on it. Sorry if I've got a bit muddled up
I went searching for the property he supposedly owned in Tamborine "Ye Ole Passey" on Hazel Rd (number unknown) I drove down the road and actually spoke to a person who lived there. Her and her husband had lived there for well over 30 years and had not heard the name RB or FdH or anyone with a Belgian accent. It is not a very long road and only has a handful of properties.

I believe the land with the cedar trees was meant to be somewhere in Northern NSW.

If she visited a doctor there would be a Medicare record just like the optometrist, which is the last Medicare record associated with Marion.
Okay I must have missed that..so it was an optometrist not doctor..

M

Maybe someone at lands & titles could search property by all his aliases..
This has been suggested a few times. If you work for the govt in this department you cannot perform a search for no reason unless of course it was a police matter. An employee would have to pay like any other person doing a search. Given the number of aliases he used and the vagueness of some of the addresses he used it would be a very costly search priced at between $22 and $32 per search

Yes, an optometrist in Grafton, they don't have the records of what she actually had done whether it was a regular eyesight test or something more specific.

So listening again to his testimony..he lived at wollongbar is that right (Inland a bit from Ballina)?

It is very interesting that he mentions one of the last times he saw her was at his house..? Why even place her ever at his property if she never was…

She may have confronted him there… and the lie that he held some of her belongings at this property may have some truth to it…

Im sure the police would have done that ages ago..

Yes, it is all a bit baffling as to why he would say she actually went there. My only guess, as others have suggested would be in case the police had some kind of evidence she was there, and he could say "yes I told you she was at my property"......basically covering his a**

Cash would also be a strange choice for someone flying out again too presumably. So again seems strange.

- The three days suggests needing to make a transaction - ie: actually Marion.

- The end result of many smaller transactions, the money left in the UK and her pension etc, and her never leaving Australia again - not Marion.

Those two things together equal bad news for her. Add in that those things occurred during her alleged relationship with a conman - and it’s not rocket science.

I'm starting to really come around to this theory. Previously I was very much in the camp of Marion did not return because I simply didn't believe Marion made the repeated cash withdrawals. I was thinking it's vital for us to figure out where she was and what happened to her in the UK.

Now I'm thinking it's vital to know exactly what RB was doing in the very small window of time between Marion's flight arriving back and the cash withdrawals commencing. IMO, they commenced when he had ensured it was possible to access the funds and Marion was out of the picture.

Someone must know. There must be some form of evidence of his behaviour and whereabouts and movements during that time? He has an entire family and they must know!

That's it! Thank you. Is this something real? Or just what he read in one of his books!?

I doubt that because of two reasons - 1) she didn't prevent him from doing it which would have been very easy, a couple of phone calls to the bank; 2) she didn't tell anyone or seek out any support from either friends, family, or professional assistance.

it could be a simple case of : remembering a web of lies is no easy task in advancing age…

Fabrications are based on part truths (it’s easier to keep track then) & He clearly states.. he was ‘with’ her at Southport (dating / romantically ‘with’ with her) but last SAW her when she came to his house to get some of her boxes…. …then comically says he never saw her when she came back to Australia or in the UK.. his mind is seperating the two moments in time..

I think he is using the word ‘saw’ with different meanings.. separating the two parts of the timeline…the first part he acknowledges being in a relationship with her…after her return he is having nothing to do with her has erased her from memory/ I think something happed to her after her return and he is trying to distance himself

IIRC he said she went there to pick up her stuff (that let's face it, he was going to dispose of) so that bit was a lie

BUT maybe she did go there immediately on return from UK to demand her paperwork from safe deposit box or whatever storage lock up he'd no doubt coerced her into. Maybe she did go accompanied by the pilot for back up and in his uniform (to add gravity to the situation)!?

No doubt if that happened, he would have placated them and handed over the documents. Then as soon as the coast was clear he'd have gone looking for Marion to get her alone.

The pilot thing was so obviously a plant by RB who was obviously listening to the podcast and most likely reading this very page….

He would be listening/reading everything single thing about the case.. drawing great comfort from the many random theories ..

@Estelle ~ "
I have always thought that MB did reply to the December 1994 ad RB placed in Le Courrier Australien which someone she knew gave her. However, they may have talked on the phone once or she wrote him a letter giving all her details. Even though Sally said she was married at the time, MB may have been separated under the one roof. What year did she divorce?

MB may have told RB that she was separated but still living under the one roof with her husband so RB lost interest as he's not interested in married women and may have been busy with other potential scams who had replied even though he said he did not hear from anyone. RB may have told her that they could meet after her divorce was through.

IIRC he placed the ad in her last week of school that year on the Saturday and her purse was stolen that week when she left her car door open when carrying books."

Sorry the last thread is closed so can't hit reply to your post.

MB divorced Ray Barter 1990.

Sometime in 1994 MB began a relationship with GE and up until Dec 1995 they were still together travelling to Norfolk Island.

Dec 10 The Ad in the paper
Dec 12 1994 her wallet is stolen from her car

She wanted GE to attend the Byron Bay wedding with her but he said he didnt want to go.
When was the wedding in 1995, anyone know the month?
Could it be that MB met RB there at this wedding??

Actually it has been confirmed by SL on the MB FB page that the wallet was stolen in 1996.

And the NSW police had a note on file that a credit card beloning to MB went to the Fraud Centre in 1994.

1996 of the wallet theft brings a whole new light into just when it may have been that RB met MB
IMO

Surely this is done as a last resort.. I don’t think you would intentionally give that info away at the beginning..

“Oh hang on yes I remember now, she came to pick up those boxes.”.

Wondering then why she was taking out 500 at a time over weeks instead of closing it altogether....

I agree, being just the optometrist… that could have been anyone.. she definitely didn’t continue to go the bank day after day… it may have been within the first 24 hours of her return..
