(Some of the) Statement on behalf of the family of Jack Hibbert, probationary constable injured during Bondi shooting

Jack sustained two bullet wounds - one to his head and another to his shoulder.

Jack was taken to ICU where he was intubated and underwent multiple surgeries.

Jack is just 22 years old and has only been in the police force for four months. Even so, in the face of a violent and tragic incident, he responded with courage, instinct, and selflessness, continuing to protect and help others whilst injured, until he was physically no longer able to.

Many of his colleagues who were present on the night of the incident have visited in hospital and given testaments to Jack's bravery during the incident, describing his devotion to his community. They described how Jack acted, he moved toward people in need, not away from danger, and continued helping others while seriously injured.

The support from the police force and hospital staff has been unmatched and we are beyond grateful. We thank the wider community for their kindness, support, and prayers for Jack and our family during this difficult time.

We ask all to respect our privacy as we move through these next stages to support Jack and all his needs to a full recovery.

"We all threw ourselves into that pit with all our children beneath us … there was so much crying and so many children's voices, and parents screaming, 'Get down! Get down!'"

She pushed Shemi's body into the ground beneath her.

"I just was doing everything in my power to make sure that my body was covering her entire body … I had other children at my legs and I was trying to put my legs over them and other people. It was a tangle, an absolute tangle of people."

"Then, finally, the shooting stopped — and people began standing up.

"And I heard parents scream to the children, 'Close your eyes, close your eyes, close your eyes.'

"And I said, 'Shemi, hold on to Mama. Put your head here. Close your eyes. Don't look up.'" She said, 'Why?'

"I said, 'I've got you. We've got this. We're going.'"

The dead and injured were all around her.

‘Her instinct is to save lives’: Chaya, 14, recovers after being shot while shielding children during Bondi terror attack

As bullets sprayed Bondi beach, Chaya Dadon heard a desperate call for help.

A woman pleaded with the 14-year-old to take her children amid the unfolding horror on Sunday evening. Chaya rushed out from a bench she had been sheltering under with a friend.

Laying her body on top of the two younger children, Chaya shielded them as gunmen carried out Australia’s worst terrorist attack, targeted at a joyous Hanukah celebration.

Moments later, Chaya was shot in the leg.

Lieder says the woman who pleaded for help was also shot in the attack but his family has been unable to identify her or the two children Chaya protected.

Cesar Barraza returns to Bondi to re-enact shots that killed terrorist Sajid Akram, struck Naveed

The hero detective who shot and killed terrorist Sajid Akram returned to Bondi Beach to re-enact his incredible shot, as remarkable footage of the cop as a young constable emerges.

Paywalled

Paraphrased:

Yesterday Sen-Constable Detective Barraza did a walk-thru re-enactment of the shooting

It is believed that Sen-Constable Detective Barraza took out Sajid Akram with a head shot while he was standing up.

He was than under fire from Naveed

At the same time there were 2 other female officers shooting

One female officer fired 4 shots in that direction, the other 14 shots

The first female officer may have hit & wounded Naveem, when shooting form behind a car, before Sen-Constable Detective Barraza, stepped out & also fired & shot him

Awaiting ballistics report which will take time

Probably just anger , seeing as they stomped & kicked them ( the terrorists or I suppose alleged terrorists? ) IMO
Channel 7 news last night said if the head stomping man had not been stopped the son would have been ripped to shreds.
And to think after all the shooting he did, a police officer still had to administer CPR.

It was all abit over the top, not to mention destroying a crime scene. These cops had alot to deal with.

As for the CPR, poor cop, but I understand why he had to do it.

I noticed one of the cops even had their vest ? removed, you can see one police officer without one , with the other cops tending to the son.

Sydney man charged over mid-flight antisemitic threats

By Annabel Bowles

A 19-year-old man will appear before a NSW court today charged with threatening a member of the Jewish community on a flight from Bali to Sydney yesterday.

Police will allege the man, from Sydney's Condell Park, made antisemitic threats and hand gestures indicating violence towards a man he knew to be affiliated with the Jewish community.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment.

AFP officers arrested and charged the man on his arrival at Sydney International Airport.

He was refused bail.
