I think Aussies are generally open and inclusive, so long as it doesn’t hurt others. We recognise that unless we are Aboriginal, we are all migrants here. But I don’t think we want to tolerate hate at all. I think this has made many of us more concerned about careful immigration, and the consequences of people migrating but brining hates and wars with them. We expect that people can manage to seperate the harms that are done by religious and political leaders (and agree that they are horrific) from their neighbours and colleagues who may be from the same religion, culture or nation. There is a real mess in Australia right now. I'd like to hear from Aussie folks, is there a general feeling that things are spiraling or under control. I am always hesitant about sweeping legislation being passed right after terrible events.
I think acting quickly after terrible events is ok. I think most Aussies support stricter gun laws and hate speech to help prevent this type of mass violence and terror.
