Does anyone remember reading/hearing how she was found? I think it was a local who found her, but was it just because the person was walking down that path or did they hear her scream and came out in response to that?

The title of this article stuck out for me. It's a bit of a strange thing to mention. Justification for not telling the husband that Prabha had actually died, in order to get him to come out here. Wouldn't it have all happened so quickly, who in Australia would have made such a call, and why?? Did someone here know him so well in order to gauge that it would be 'better' to lead him to believe she was still alive? Sounds weird to me from the get go.
Apparently Prabha was only one month away from returning to India permanently...

According to the article below 'Arvand Amirian, 17, heard Kumar scream for help while she was being stabbed. When he rushed to the spot, he found her neck, face and chest covered in blood.'

I'm interested with the wording of some of these articles.

Kumar’s work visa was expiring in June this year. Police, however, said that there was no reason to suggest that the attack had a racist angle. The investigation is going on to find out if it was a random or a targeted killing. Kumar worked with Mindtree. She was supposed to go back to India in April.

In fact, Prabha Arun Kumar had died before her husband even reached Bangalore airport. The call came through to his family, who decided the widower should not travel alone bearing such news.

So he'd already left.. and had a long flight ahead. That just seems like a kindness.

'She was walking while talking to Arun on the phone when she said that a suspicious-looking man was following her,' her brother-in-law, Thrijesh Jayachandra, told The Hindu.
'The next moment, he heard her scream for help and then plead with the man not to harm [her] and take all her belongings if he wanted. Seconds later, he heard her scream and say she was stabbed.'
She sustained a number of injuries, which police believe were inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon.

A woman who was stabbed in a 'horrific' attack has been identified as Prabha Arun
Nearby resident Arvand Amirian told 9News he had found Ms Arun with blood all over her body after hearing 'crying screams' that 'didn't sound normal'.
'There was blood covering her face, her neck, her chest - her chest wasn't even moving so that's when I assumed she was gone,' Amirian said.

Ms Kumar's screams were also heard by 17-year-old Arvand Amirian. He went to help and found her face, neck and chest covered in blood. He was asked to do CPR until the ambulance arrived but she sadly died a short time after being taken to hospital.

So yup, that was pretty quick, for someone to ID her and then call the family (which I assume the police did? I'm not sure of protocol there, actually). He'd already left for the airport when the family heard she'd died, so her husband must've left the moment they got the call about the attack, and the call about her death came shortly after.

Kudos to that young man who came to help.

It was such a happy day for the Indian community, what a terrible way for it to end.

I hope they get this guy quickly...

Meanwhile, sending Prabha's body back to Bengaluru might be delayed further because police procedures are taking time. The autopsy, which is crucial to the investigation, was expected to be conducted on Tuesday. Her nephew, Thiresh Jayachandra, said it is unlikely that her mortal remains would reach the city before the weekend.

Police are taking statements of those related to the case, including Prabha's husband, G Arun Kumar, and want the body to remain in Sydney till the investigations are over. Kumar hasn't visited the place where his wife was attacked, said sources in Sydney.

I'm saddened to see the photos of the flowers in parramatta though, why aren't there more? I know it's not the same but I keep remembering, for example, the flowers for Tori and Katrina in Martin Place last year... I just feel... a bit embarrassed really, that there hasn't been more of an outpouring of public emotion.

I hope they get the guy soon.

Yes. They did mention the vigil was led by Police. Pretty sure there were plainclothes around that night observing.

Just a quick question:

According to Prabha's last phone conversation with her husband, she had stated: He stabbed me darling. *in her native tongue Kannada*, before the phone going dead.

At which point of the scuffle did she actually get back to the phone and say this?

It couldn't have been in middle of the attack, because when you're being savagely attacked in the pitch dark by a total stranger, you will be in severe shock and unimaginable psychological trauma. You can't possibly pick up the phone and keep talking while you are being attacked. Or can you?

And if it was after the attack that she said those last words, and when the attacker had left the scene, then that would mean she had already been seriously injured *around her throat and neck area*, she could not have been physically able and/or fit to speak at all.

The question remains at which point of the attack did she say those words?

Keshi, I was just doing some research on the Jack the Ripper recently, re attacks involving cut throats in that era. Anyway, what surprised me is how many victims (not of Jack, but others..) were able to cry out still, even run for help, with a pile of horrific throat and torso injuries.

Another thing that surprised me was many witnesses testifying that they didn't realise how serious their injuries were at first. The sharper the implement, the less it hurts for a short time.

Maybe she was clutching her phone for dear life after the first stab, and then dropped it as the attack continued. We also don't know when the throat wounds happened. Perhaps she was stabbed in the chest or stomach first.

I tore my scalp on a rose bush & it wasn't until I felt a warm tickle on my back did I realise that my hand was dripping in blood.
The immediate fear and adrenaline could have counteracted the actual punctures. If it was a very sharp knife she may have just felt slight bumps. It all happened in semi-darkness.

I saw the pavement....there would have been a main artery punctured.

Why oh why?
