There's a lot of criticism of the 'search team' in Podcast #5 from George Maloukis.
I'm going in to bat for them because I think it's relevant regarding how thorough the search has been. It's been meticulous with the physical searches well planned and mapped. Other than those mentioned, there are a lot of others who have done the best they can and have put in a lot of effort.
These are 'ordinary' people.
I'm trying to work out exactly what the specific training and background of George Maloukis is when he states that experienced people like him should have been used more. I can't find any such info. Does anyone know?

I agree that the locals have been, and are being, methodical, careful, and report any findings to the police. They are also taking care with their own safety, and know the area well. They are doing the right thing. imo

"Mr Maloukis left the corporate world 13 years ago to work in the security industry.
He became the head of security in a well known Sydney establishment.
He has also worked as a bodyguard and now runs his own security guard company.
Mr Maloukis now lives in Brisbane after moving from Sydney six months ago."

Top security expert arrives in Byron Bay to join search for Theo Hayez and says be believes the missing backpacker is still alive

It is good to hear that the police and the pro-bono PI - Ken Gamble - are liaising together, and the police are providing the PI with info that he asks for. With the PI reporting his own movements to the police.

They’re appreciated and recognised beyond words. Let’s not continue with this topic as it (if I recall correctly) caused this thread to be shut down for quite some time (as in weeks) earlier on.
I don’t know if it’d be different now that the person you refer to is a part of the podcast? Anyway just a friendly suggestion to be cautious.
I was weary about posting it and will remove it if asked. I think it's relevant given mention in the podcast and the thoroughness has been questioned. The thoroughness of the search and the participation is what we rely on here. That's where the info comes from mostly.

I actually found the podcast information interesting that he had set up Theo's profile on Grinder.
Thought that maybe he could get a bite on Theo's whereabouts and/or demise from there.

I guess that follows from the area being known to be a 'beat' place. And it is a concern that something nefarious could have happened to Theo along those lines.

I do hope that Theo's family were consulted before that profile was set up (and apparently now removed).

Anyone read the news reports today about the homeless man arrested for two murders in tweed and Sunshine Coast?! According to police Kevin James Pettiget tried to evade detection and discarded clothing after both murders. He also shaved his beard. Could it be?

I don't know if that area is but Kings Beach further south is a gay nudist beach. He focused around there early on.

Bashing at Boat Harbour at Tweed Heads of a homeless man in a sleeping bag. I can't see any connection.

Upon searching Google for George Maloukis it comes up with personal security.

I am not going to post the link to his personal business page.

PhoneAGuard was strategically established by George Maloukis who decided he wanted to focus on two areas of security. One was to gain new contracts in various areas of security and the other was to be the supplier of well trained and up skilled security guards to existing contract holders, hence the reason he came up with the name PhoneAGuard”.

Only seems to me work in security and cannot see any specific experience/qualifications in things such as missing persons or technology etc, crime-solving etc. Information is not based on my opinion and only what is available through the site on google.

Im not sure what a security guard could offer to find a missing person IMO.

There seems to be a pic of Kevin James Pettiford at this link, relating to his crime. No 'bushy hair'.

If Theo was with anyone, it sounds as if it could have been a person from the park.
The homeless guy seems to be discounted, due to his personal care and appearance being so radically different from Theo.

I guess that it is possible that Theo heard about the (Saturday) night doof party while at the bbq, and thought it was on Friday night and tried to make his way there.

After hearing this in the podcast today I would say could be a possibility as he head straight to that end the beach for some reason.

IMO, I think this campsite guy is a real POI, and agree with the PI. IMO Theo met him at Tennyson and followed him past his own camp to CC. Let’s not forget that the path directly to his campsite must have been forged by this person – it is not even a track that is locally known as a track, so a personal one.

Re George Maloukis part of this Episode. I know him personally for a long time, professionally and as a friend (friend only, I am not gay). We have talked about the Theo case from before he went to Byron to offer his assistance (for free). David Murray contacted George a few days ago to ask for a photo of him with his dog. George said no, making it clear he did not want to be part of the podcast unless the family wanted him to and thought it might assist. This release of a recording made some 2 + months ago was made without George’s knowledge or permission (he was just talking to media no idea it was recorded). When George first arrived Christos told him that the family wanted as much publicity as possible around the case (very understandable). It’s the reason he agreed to speak to media at all. He did not know when he spoke with David Murray back then, that he was being recorded. What GM posted on the Grindr website was only Theo’s first name and no pic. He was hearing rumours about Theo from all over the place, so put it out there as a “long shot”.

George did have a falling out with the group, as have many others with levels of professional experience. Lack of information, lack of experience by the locals but with good intentions all took their toll. David never contacted George to ask if it was Ok to go with a 2 + month old talk they had, nor was he aware that he was in Episode 5 until he was informed today. GM was accused by people in the LFTH group of just wanting media attention, and it is one of the reasons he left the group. It was Christos who told him to talk to media in the first place and he was reluctant to do it until he was told that the family wanted as much publicity as possible. All available evidence to George at the time, indicated that Theo might possibly have run off with a girl.

With now more recent evidence, the outcome? Theo is very likely still at CC. Others on websleuths have mentioned this as well, and it is looking likely IMO.

I actually am curious if the family even knew that this old conversation with GM was being included in this podcast? One of the key volunteers informed Murray that GM was a suspect in Theo’s disappearance. I am glad that Murray recognised this and has seen through the false accusation. Several persons with experience have fallen foul of the key group, which is a pity when the aim was simply to help find Theo Hayez. Admin can contact GM direct to confirm my comments here. He’s in the media, I am direct to him not third party, so thought this was within the rules. Hope so.

How do you remove posts on here? Didn’t realise you could. I think it may be ok now given George is now part of the podcast.

What is George’s experience or expertise you mention Certus? In the latest podcast, George also refers to his “experience”. What’s his background, training, quals etc do you know?

Also the license was found in late June - after the police had been searching in that area quite intensively between 13/6-18/6. Seems that it may have been dropped/left there well after Theo disappeared.

From what I’m understanding the water damaged license and wallet was found on a pile of leaf litter between the dunes and the sea. It could’ve even washed up.

As far as I have always known, we can speak of things that are mentioned in the media .. and the podcast is produced by The Australian.
These podcasts produced by MSM are considered MSM links.

Tyagarah (Belongil?) beach is clothing optional too. Discovered that one by accident when simply heading for a dip during the blues festival.

Yes, the podcast said they were quite water damaged (though the link I provided earlier did not include that detail).

Very possibly washed up - or found washed up and tossed onto the leaf debris by someone who left it there for the owner to find, if they came looking for their lost items.

Homeless surfer boy may have accidentally left the wallet in his pocket when he went surfing.

FYI Theo's profile was never posted by George Maloukis on any forum or website, ever. It was just a first name and a "have you seen him" short post, to see if he could get any hits. and again as a "long shot". He was and is involved in searching for missing persons, with a case current at the moment. Just wanted to set he record straight with so many tangents about him out there for no good reason. The aim is finding Theo, not making assumptions about a person based on a heavily doctored conversation reduced to a few minutes form maybe an hour long conversation. Which is what media does.
