Harpboon said cousin Michael requested it from google and when received it gave more specific detail of the journey. It was apparently mentioned in an early podcast.

@mussopossum So when you went (1/8) to follow Théo's route you were not yet aware that the exact path of Théo or phone was known.

Sorry for not quoting the person above who wrote the following : he/she thinks Théo had drunk to much or his drink was fiddled with because he didn't walk strait coming out of CM. Could be but if your brain is misty would you be able to follow a map in the opposite direction all the way to CC ?

I personally don't think Theo was very impaired. They bought one bottle of wine to drink between the two of them, before heading off to Cheeky Monkeys. He had two drinks in Cheeky Monkeys. From my guestimation, it sounds as if he probably had four drinks in about 3 hours.

He also spent time dancing, which should burn off a bit of alcohol.

But most of all, Theo was astute enough to keep watching his whereabouts in relation to Wake Up hostel.

I recall a podcast saying that the data dump was made and that they were amazed by the amount of it. Might be wrong though. They had access. I doubt Google would oblige.

I wonder if it is possible that the Belgian police got a warrant for the data? I wonder how much they remain involved in this case, seeing that it is one of their nationals who is missing.

Like you, I find it hard to see Google providing info to anyone without a warrant. Theo is an adult. He has an assumed right to his privacy.

At the moment, no-one can know for sure that Theo didn't decide to go missing. (I know that is unlikely, but it is still a remote possibility.)

My apologies, I just went and checked and Michael did google take out which is the raw data of Theos online history. I misunderstood how he got the raw data. He got it by accessing Theo’s email account and then changing his google accounts password, not by google giving him access. Sorry for any confusion.

NoCookies | The Australian

“When Belgian teenager Theo Hayez disappeared in Byron Bay on May 31, very little was known at first about his movements. But after his family cracked his Google account, they had an incredible amount information at their fingertips.

Google’s location data is accurate to within 3m for most of Theo’s route, and the trove of data from the tech giant included his precise latitudes and longitudes, time-stamped to the millisecond

They couldn’t just see information from that night. Google Takeout gave Theo’s family his online history for the previous five years.

The information didn’t come from a request to Google, however. It came only when his family figured out his email password and then reset his Google account password.”

i agree and often wonder if he simply wanted to disappear, either forever or until hes ready to be found, or did he slip into the ocean and drown, it seems the simplest scenario, and easier to believe than some local just killing him in cold blood and burying him?

So according to the Daily Mail Online they found the drivers's licence a few days before the 5th of July.
But as someone said before would the vanished camper have remained in Byron Bay after the announcement of Théo's disappearence if he was the perpetrator ?

One would not expect so.
However, searches were concentrated towards WU in the first week.
A week is a long time for anyone to move a captive or a body by car / in a camper.
Only afterwards did the searches move towards Tallow.
I'm only thinking out loud now, just speculating.

Mystery homeless man who camped in bushland where Theo Hayez was last traced could be linked to the missing backpacker's disappearance, search teams say

Theo Hayez Byron Bay search: Mystery homeless man who camped in bushland could be linked | Daily Mail Online

Is this guy’s camp the one that’s still there with the new ropes?

This guy had “a tent, tarp and surfboard” yet the article also says, “The tent and the tarp were gone when the group arrived back at the camp the next day. “

Interesting that they found his license. People drop stuff all the time, but of all things to find a license is gold.

Correct Buster.

They had his log in for Google so were able to get all his data

Another thing that I get (wonder) with him looking at his phone and Wake up several times is nervousness.

Was he nervous at his surrounds or surrounding company and looked up wake up to ensure he had an idea how to get back etched into his mind in the event he had to leg it with no time to look at phone again

Wow, they actually know misterX's identity!
He is missing too !

It rang alarm bells for me the only thing that I have doubts is the time lapsed from May 31 to End July, it could have fallen out there at anytime so hard to place him there at the time Theo was.

If he had lost his ID there it be interesting to see if he had attempted to replace it at RTA (SNSW) soon thereafter however will never know as only LE could obtain that info or maybe Ken.

Well, it's his drivers licence, not his ID. So not much hurry to replace it.

You probably mean end June, not end July?

One thing is for sure: Theo's phone was on land on June 1st.

It was mentioned in one of the podcasts that Theo was fastidious (my word) about knowing where he was and where he was going. That he would even study directions and locations days prior.

Didn’t know about there being a PI (Ken Gamble) either.
