POLICE will allege secret *recordings led them to arrest Gold Coast love rat Gable Tostee for murder over the death of a New Zealand *tourist who fell 14 floors to her death from his balcony.

Tostee was yesterday officially charged with murder, exactly a week after Warriena Tagpuno Wright plunged to her death from the balcony of his luxury apartment at the Avalon tower in Surfers Paradise.

Tostee was arrested at his parents’ Carrara home and taken to Southport Watchhouse, where he was formally charged with murder.

Police will allege they have a compelling case against *Tostee, including the discovery of secret recordings that catalogued the interaction between the pair, who only met that night via the *social dating app Tinder.

That Courier Mail article is disappointing writing in terms of being a news story. A compilation of forum posts isn't news imo, and there aren't too many 'facts' in there. Where does the info about him being an autistic savant come from? Surely not just GT's own bragging posts on a forum? Don't even get me started on how the article ends - unless there is more following in the subscriber or print versions?
Sorry it just irked me reading that as it just came across as sensationalist and without much substance. I think I've woken up grumpy! :gaah:

Who knew Warriena was in the unit as they hooked up via Tinda. Warriena fell 14 floors so how did LE know where she fell from so quickly? Somewhere directly upwards.

Someone knew and reported the exact floor and the exact unit. IMO.

Very strong whiffs of Gittany here but this seems a much stronger case. HIDDEN CAMERAS & EVIDENCE FROM NEIGHBOURS. Gittany was free for a long time Tostee got toasted much quicker.

Sammy Soden, 18, met Tostee about three months ago. She told the Weekend Herald he was highly "sexual" in his Tinder messages. And when he met her at Club Liv, he was drunk and pawed her, she said.

She and two girlfriends went back to his apartment, where she, too, said he was "creepy".

"I walked through the door and he lifted me up, threw me over his shoulder and threw me on the couch," she said. "He was incredibly confident."

Gold Coast body builder Gable Tostee will fight the murder charge against him as the case was adjourned in a Gold Coast court this morning.

The 28-year-old is accused of the murder of New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright. He did not appear in court and will be remanded in custody until October 10.

The police have done great, thorough work on this case:

Detectives have spent the past week combing Mr Tostee’s apartment for evidence, seizing a number of CDs, DVDs and hard drives as well as CCTV from the apartment building and the entrance of the Carrara gated community where his parents live.

Police also received a number of calls to Crime Stoppers from women who had met Gable Tostee, many of whom were interviewed as investigators worked to build their case.

Police have alleged they have retrieved mobile phone footage of the incident where she tried to escape from Tostee.

Tostee did not appear in the dock but his solicitor spoke on his behalf, a brief formality.

Next court appearance scheduled for October 10th

Tostee would go out four or five times a week, usually by himself. Sometimes he would spend the night drinking just water, no ice. Bar staff say he would usually still be there as they closed up, trying to speak to intoxicated girls.

However, a former bar worker said he had followed her to her car after closing time more than once; another said he would prowl the streets after bars had all closed, looking for dates.

One nightclub employee said: "Everyone knows to keep away from him. His reputation is he's just a weirdo, he'd just odd."
