This is new to me:

Warriena Wright was seeing and hearing things and claimed she would "jump off the balcony" about 40 minutes before plunging to her death, lawyers for Gable Tostee say.

The claims were contained within bail application documents made available to media last week, after being tendered by his lawyers in the Brisbane Supreme Court.
...
"...She appears to be seeing/hearing people who are talking to her...the deceased says she wants to look out the window. [Mr Tostee] says 'Don't jump off, or anything'...The deceased says 'No, I'm good'," the affidavit said.

...His lawyers claim Ms Wright then armed herself with a heavy object and Mr Tostee managed to restrain and lock her out on the 14th-floor balcony in self-defence...

Well ... let's hope that he has that on his infamous recording .. otherwise it is his word against - oh, that's right, Warriena can't speak for herself any more. :stormingmad:

As well as having a duty of care for a person within his home, Tostee will never be able to step away from his responsibility for plying an already-inebriated Warriena with his disgusting homemade liquor ... then roughing her up, scaring the wits out of her, and locking her out on his balcony.

(If just locking her out is all he did .. and not for a second do I believe that ... there is no way anyone would let someone stand out on their balcony screaming at 2am, or idly watch them clamber over their 14th floor balcony).

Now, who was seeing things?

"I am still quite concerned about that incident and the intentions of Colin Latimer," Mr Tostee said.
However Arthur Gorrie's general manager Troy Ittensohn replied to Mr Tostee's lawyers, saying there was no evidence Mr Latimer entered the cell.

"I accept that the stress of my situation may exacerbate my symptoms but I am very concerned that as the months pass by, I am becoming more and more distressed and unwell. My memory, concentration and ability to prepare my defence are all deteriorating over time."

has anyone else heard of 'wet brain'?

  • Staggering, irregular gait, and other muscular incoordination
  • Confabulation - remembering events that never happened
  • Inability to form new memories
  • Loss of memory--this can be severe
  • Visual and auditory hallucinations
  • Vision changes - including double vision, eyelid drooping, and abnormal eye movements

Forensic experts examined the crime scene where police performed a re-enactment in the days following Ms Wright’s death.

In the police re-enactment, a female police officer was lowered in a harness from Tostee’s balcony — then a crime scene.

Tostee’s own recordings that document what sounds like a drunken struggle between the two are also being used by police prosecutors.

Alcohol made Gable Tostee 'ashamed of himself' ........

His father Gray also submitted documents to the court, in which he said his son's alcohol usage began increasing after he turned 23.

"Gable seemed to get into some difficult situations due to alcohol, and sometimes legal issues arose," he wrote. (Understatement of the year  )

I think there's a reason he's dropping this "Latimer" name around the papers... so my question is, who's Colin Latimer, what's in he for - and who was his lawyer...

Whatever evidence is used against Warriena on the recording, I hope the prosecution keep raising the issue of Tostee obviously manipulating the conversation, his own comments and possibly the recording itself to make her look as bad as possible -- "where's my money" --- for example. He got his scripts mixed up a moment, there...

I dunno how "I want to look out of the window" equals a threat to jump. I think a careful analysis of the conversation will show Tostee directing the course of the topics.

And I agree, I do think Tostee is a dangerous individual. I think he's really good at playing "poor me" - it might work with his mummy and people vulnerable to the ploy, but it makes my skin crawl - he's a 30 yr old man, not a 12 year old!

Police claim toxicology results will show Ms Wright was drunk at the time having drunk home-distilled vodka, however there was no clear evidence that Mr Tostee was impaired. :furious:

I know, right? So what exactly is going on there?
Has he been playng the alcoholic card?
Or was his blood test done so long afterwards that the levels were low (due to his not reporting to station for some 9 hours later)?

Tostee would go out four or five times a week, usually by himself. Sometimes he would spend the night drinking just water, no ice. Bar staff say he would usually still be there as they closed up, trying to speak to intoxicated girls.

Justice Debra Mullins told the court a psychiatrist diagnosed Tostee with social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and alcohol use disorder.

So he has a drinking problem but spends 4/5 nights a week at Club drinking water with no ice?
Was it water or Vodka?
Alcohol disorder??

Exactly that's why daddy took him away and lawyers were called.

Tostee - I don't know I tackled her on the floor INSIDE the building and I NEVER FORCED her OVER the EDGE.

Ms Ellis I heard a girl say I just, I just want to go home please. Let me go home and she was quite SCARED.
We were trying to see what was going on because of what we COULD HEAR.
It was right above us ......because I could hear her. She was TRYING TO GET AWAY, there was a lot of movement.

Trying to get away - please they are not going to say from her voices.

I so hope the witnesses below heard Tostee's voice right above them at 2.20.30 hurling abuse at R'rie.

GT = ..............................
It's all on recording you know. Its all being recorded.
I would but you have been a bad girl
Whilst Rrie was screaming no, no, no .........just let me go home.

Forcing over the edge then turning and slamming that sliding door.

^ THIS. An alcoholic doesn't go out cruising for drunk women in clubs and drink ice water all night, habitually.... but a sex addict or serial rapist might. I think the club owners pegged him for what he was, AND I think Mullins SHOULD have paid more attention to these reports!!!!

Tostee's for sure got some issues that make him dangerous to women. I don't think alcohol's one of 'em.

Our Possy mentioned 'wet brain'. :loveyou:

Wet Brain and Alcoholism

Heavy drinkers are often unable to eat balanced meals as a result of nausea and other lifestyle choices. In this malnourished state, alcoholics are at extreme risk for developing wet brain symptoms. This risk is increased exponentially when there’s a sudden influx of glucose. Again, glucose is a primary byproduct of the sugars in alcohol.

It’s advisable for those in late stage alcoholism to avoid eating sweet foods, particularly if they’re a main food source. It’s important to note that wet brain is a result of malnourishment, rather than alcoholism itself.

Wet brain symptoms range in severity. They usually include lack of muscle coordination, memory loss, hallucination, false memories, and abnormal vision (including drooping eyes and double vision). Once a certain line is crossed, many of these symptoms are untreatable.

The predator stalks and lays in wait for it's prey and then pounces when the prey is at it's most vulnerable.

"go out cruising for drunk women in clubs and drink ice water all night, habitually.... but a sex addict or serial rapist might. I think the club owners pegged him for what he was"

Are we surprised??

I'm half expecting this "wet brain" thing to appear in his court case as part of his defense, now. Since the autism card can't be played *again* (as he doesn't actually HAVE it) and all.

Tostee himself can be heard on the recording saying he wasn't as drunk as Warriena and "had to catch up". I contend that he had *no intention whatseover* of 'catching up'. In my opinion, he was clearly enjoying the power he felt, watching her become increasingly intoxicated on his home-made rocket fuel. In my opinion, he fed her that stuff and also steered the conversation toward the balcony so many times, I cannot help but see it as NOT in any way a coincidental presage to a horrible drunken accident -- but a fantasy being played out, and when it doesn't go the way he likes it (particularly when he's threatened with a call to the police), he gets increasingly aggressive, and his manipulations get increasingly more obvious.

I would LOVE to know exactly how many girls he's taken home drunk, fed them home-made booze, and then accused them of theft or whatever other "crime" to keep them from calling police on him. IMO this seriously needs looking into.

Tostee to Warriena: "where's my money?"

Why 1 hour and 2 minutes to phone his father?

Rewind that tape 1 hour and 2 minutes ( with a little bit of fast forwarding)

1.19 am - Was not too long after that it started to get messy and Rrie threatened to call the police.

He had time to listen to that recording before speaking to his father.

Knowing he was recording he and his fathers conversation, off course he remembered to mention:
* He locked the door and left her on the balcony.
* He tackled her inside the building.
* She kept drinking and got more aggressive.
Could they have already been on the balcony?
Metal dropping, stones being thrown (what noises do stones make on carpet by the way?)
While he remembered many last things, one was.
"The last thing I remember was that I tried to hold her down and she ran out on to my balcony. I hope I just imagined it."

Was she trying to run for the exit.

Alcohol disorder??

The two I've bolded above just don't go together and in no way do they match up with the lines I've bolded and underlined in this description of the disorder.....

Social anxiety disorder

Social anxiety disorder is a persistent fear of one or more situations in which the person is exposed to possible scrutiny by others and fears that he or she may do something or act in a way that will be humiliating or embarrassing. It exceeds normal "shyness" as it leads to excessive social avoidance and substantial social or occupational impairment. Feared activities may include almost any type of social interaction, especially small groups, dating, parties, talking to strangers, restaurants, interviews etc.

Those who suffer from social anxiety disorder fear being judged by others in society. In particular, individuals with social anxiety are nervous in the presence of people with authority and feel uncomfortable during physical examinations.[14] People who suffer from this disorder may behave a certain way or say something and then feel embarrassed or humiliated after. As a result, they choose to isolate themselves from society to avoid such situations. They may also feel uncomfortable meeting people they do not know, and act distant when they are with large groups of people.

2.20am - Sounds consistent with door unlocking.
2.20.30 am - Sound of door sliding shut. No mention of sound consistent with door locking.
Tostee - I might have locked her out on the balcony cos there is like a lock. I can't remember what I did but I absolutely did not throw her.

Tostee conversation with Rrie -"Your phone must be out of battery. It must be on the balcony."

Then during the conversation with his father he announces with utter surprise that he has Rrie's phone in his pocket.

Assuming the phone was in fact on the balcony doesn't that place him out there.

IMO as he says he absolutely did not throw her. But he had the opportunity and enough time to force, lift and release R'rie over with her back to the rail, slam the door and create doubt as to whether he was on the balcony.
