I think that would require both JW and PS to be directionally challenged. As well as both of them being unable to tell the distance between them and the sounds of the children.

When there are two independent witnesses, it seems to make it more probable that they heard William and his sister playing. imo
PS has been developing memory problems--I'd want to know when he first said he heard the children playing that day. But also, and this could apply to both PS and JW, people remember what they expect to remember. When you know there were children out playing, it's easy to think you remember hearing them.

However--rather than think everyone's lying, deaf, confused or deceived, I find it easier to suppose William fell down a drain, perhaps the one that was barely inspected because cobwebs appeared undisturbed.

Is that earlier photo theory still plausible when taking into account neighbours JW and PS both said in their statements they heard little children playing? JW left home approx 9am and PS arrived home from his walk approx 8.50am. MFC left for Lakewood approx 8.55am. They heard children... as in plural.
And there is video of the 4 family members at the McDonalds, the night before they arrived. So WT was there that evening. If he had been taken away much earlier than what they all said, I think his older sister would have spilled the beans.

She told investigators she was playing with him, right before he went missing. I don't think she would have lied about that, nor would have been able to do so convincingly if she were told to lie by her family. JMO

it seems the only people to say they actually saw william that morning were the foster family?
But would his older sister lie about seeing her brother and playing with him that morning?

I very much doubt it, but of course that's only my opinion.

Remember:
I forgot his name, but the man, who saw a little spiderman in a speeding car with a plump blonde woman on the driver seat.
I believe him and I understand, why he didn't call the FGM and didn't help the search.

Why didn't he immediately call police when he heard about the child being kidnapped?

Why didn't he immediately call police when he heard about the child being kidnapped?

Ronald Chapman has said that he expected police would door knock him, but they didn't. Apparently, despite all of the publicity surrounding the case, it didn't occur to him to speak up until weeks later and even then he didn't call or go to police direct.

When asked why he did not alert police about the potential sighting until weeks later, Mr Chapman said he was waiting for police to come and interview him.

"The detective in charge made several announcements on TV that they were going to come and interview people within a 1-kilometre radius," he said.

"I was waiting for a knock on the door … it was several weeks later.

"In hindsight I should have gone sooner … you have second thoughts, I suppose I anguished a bit going forward."

Weeks later, Mr Chapman said he approached the sister of a local police officer at the Kendall Services Club and told her to pass on the message about what he saw.

But the inquest heard Mr Chapman was not formally interviewed by detectives for six months.

Here it is suggested that he may have imagined the whole thing:

I think, she was too young to lie "on command".

EXCLUSIVE: William Tyrrell's foster dad faces possible two years in jail if found guilty of lying in secret crime commission hearing - as his VERY glamorous lawyer insists on lengthy trial
William Tyrrell's foster dad faces prison if guilty - as glamorous lawyer demands lengthy trial | Daily Mail Online

The 55-year-old has engaged lawyer Carly Hydes, ranked among the top rising stars in NSW criminal law two years ago, who has insisted on a full two-day hearing to defend him.

The couple has been described by friend, 2GB radio broadcaster Chris Smith, as 'professional people from a comfortable part of Sydney'.

I can’t help but wonder if the engaged Lawyer was a Male, would the headline read ‘ - VERY hot lawyer’ ... not good imo !

What is the relevance the FMFC’s lawyers are rising stars? If he’s lied to investigators (which is still to be heard in court) but they are confident it can be proven, a rising star lawyer will be irrelevant. Proof is proof, if they have it. The first step is he has been charged, which I’d imagine would be put forward to supervisors and legal team to ensure its validity before actually laying the charge

My take, from the publicity around this so-called 'hot' lawyer, is that she intends to embark on a tortuous semantics journey through hours of recordings over a period of two days. I guess that means that a prosecution witness will be on the stand for many hours -- aka trial by stamina.

If this is to be an open hearing, then I'd like to watch it myself.

I wonder if by trial time she will be “court fit”? ;)

To me it sounds as if she is going to be arguing context, if she is requiring this amount of court time for the recordings.
Perhaps things are not as black and white as "he said two misleading things, we have proof".

But we have got a fairly long wait to find out.

maybe, if she was coerced or scared of making someone angry, she was only little at the time

I think there would be a queue lining up to listen...... I for one, would be keen to listen ....

I notice that Inquests are now being broadcast live to persons that log in ..... I hope this will happen when The Coroner releases her findings in William's case...... and a shame that the entire Inquest for William couldn't be viewed in the same manner.....

There was also suggestion at the time that he had previously been a witness for another crime. The only link I can find to this is in the Australian and therefore paywalled. Maybe someone else has a link that is not? I wonder if he didn't just want to be involved again. There was also a suggestion he had been previously involved in some sort of disagreement with the FGM regarding a flower show? Or judging at a flower show? I think his evidence is probably questionable.

There is a post here, by soso, that provides some of the text from the Australian article (this was before the Australian paywalled most of their articles - we used to get x amount of articles free each month).

Australia - Australia - William Tyrrell, 3, Kendall, Nsw, 12 Sept 2014 - #47

There were also concerns about his recall .... (BBM)

"Dr Paterson said Mr Chapman's retelling of the memory changed over time, with an initial mention of a cape not appearing later and the later accounts told with more confidence and accuracy about key events.
The memory expert said it could be the case Mr Chapman was incorporating "post-event information" such as news reports in his memory reconstruction."

We've heard very little of what the sister actually said. The most detail seems to have come from Jubelin after he left the case, in defence of his pursuit of PS. For all I know she mumbled agreement to leading questions, or told police "he went to look for daddy's car" because FFC had already asked her, "did William go to look for Daddy's car?" and she had agreed that that might be the case. It would be interesting if she'd been recorded answering questions, and described the whole morning in her own words. I don't think she would have lied or intentionally held anything back, but I do think they might have missed garnering what she knew.

I seem to remember that police spent days interviewing GBC's young children. L having been very young wasn't a good reason to ignore her experience of the day, or to assume that she'd told everything possible to the FCs.
