You know, we have tower voids all over this town. I must have been in a reception black spot.

It appears William, nothing matches. Not a good look deleting records on the morning.

I believe the records or some of them are only deleted off the phone, not off the server.

They are not deleted off the server for a long, long time. 9 months at a minimum (back then), 2 years at a minimum these days.

The server will capture all activity. Obviously not in a black spot though. The server (tower) cannot "see" the phone in a black spot.

There is other ways. Apps may not know, but your service provider does.

The service provider will know what tower(s) your phone was pinging on. Without triangulation they cannot say where you were. Triangulation is not always possible, and may not be possible in that area, due to minimal towers for each provider. Could be anywhere from right next door to up to 10-20km away, in some cases. Depending on the landscape and range.

Is anyone clued up on how café cash registers keep records? would Buzz be able to pull out a record of what was ordered to match the total amount on the bank statement?

BS said they were with a friend at the school assembly. It hasn't been said if that friend had coffee with them, I'm thinking not.

The record of sale if available should give an idea of how many coffees were ordered? Doesn't prove anything but would be enlightening to police in some sense?

Also, just a thought, when people go to school assemblies and award presentations they would either put their phone on silent or turn it off depending on what message they want callers to receive. How does that effect pings or doesn't it at all?

Just piecing together thoughts, given their ages in 2014 the boys at Laurieton PS would be in Stage 2 or 3 (yrs 3,4,5,6). According to the Laurieton PS assembly timetable Stage 2 and 3 assemblies were at 10.30 on alternating Fridays.

All just food for thought. I flip on BS guilt or innocence quite regularly.

It depends when those other people were interviewed. The same week or a couple of months later can make a big difference to what people remember. We don't know when the cafe people, other school parents etc. were interviewed. MOO

Of course it would make sense for a business not to turn their phone off.............but it's not illegal to turn it of..............sure it's looks suss as all hell..................it's up to the cops to prove why it was turned off & relate it to a criminal investigation.......

Its not like they are an everyday individual. They go out of their way to create a brand. Business wants people to remember them. It is the whole key to their success.

It forms a bigger picture of why it might be him. No one has implied they will get him on turning his phone off.

But mention was made that his records for FGM have been deleted in the morning.

The whole combination of activity reconciled with alibis against the crime timeline.

On Friday, September 12, he said he missed a call from the grandmother's phone and told police and family he tried to call back but got no answer.

He claimed he went to have coffee with his wife in Laurieton and then watched his grandson receive a school award.

Later that afternoon Mr Spedding claimed he called William's grandmother's phone again and a member of the toddler's family answered, said they were busy and he would have to call back.

No record of those events? Under a phone tower in Dunboggan?

Oh I thought it was a hypothetical question, seeing it's never been stated his phone was " turned off" in MSM. I Was just replying to creds senario :cheers:

I could give him the benefit of the doubt if no one saw him at coffee shop, but not if no one saw him at the school assembly, these were parents of his grandchildren friends, who he probably saw regularly at sporting events etc.
Lol the grandchildren were probably excited to see grandparents there, one could probably say exactly where they sat. Big flag if not one remembered seeing grandad.
How many people were actually at this assembly?
Unless it was very riveting, probably lots of parents were doing more people watching than listening to assembly.

So, through crimestoppers and passed onto police. After understanding what crimestoppers is, I would highly recommend where at all possible, police be contacted 1st hand and receive an event number for reporting, so as to be able to follow anything up transparently. Crimestoppers is certainly a highly advantageous tool for the police, hell, if they had a hunch about anything, they could anonymously ring crimestoppers themselves and then follow up. MOO

Unless it was very riveting, probably lots of parents were doing more people watching than listening to assembly.

The coffee shop is very small, remember the pics we posted? The coffee shop where I do some work .. they remember who was working most days that week, if I need to know about a shift change (usually have 6-10 people on per day). They remember when they saw someone ... if it was a long time ago, or just last week or the week before. If that person does not remember, they ask the next person and they remember. It is their business, they are mostly absorbed in it, get friendly with the folks, it is a small town.

I think the school had about 300 students. Guess at 40 kids or so per grade. Not 100% attendance at assemblies by parents. Far less than that usually. Shouldn't have been too tough for someone to remember he was there. imo
