* The Kendall Community Centre operates from three sites including the Scouts-owned property.
“Had council not stepped in to buy the site, it would have severely impacted on the Kendall Community Centre’s ability to deliver these important community services,” Mr Payne said.
** Centre manager Allison Haylett says the move to sell the land by the scouts flies in the face of community spirit.
“This is not doing the movement’s name much good in the Kendall community,” Ms Haylett said.
“There is a fair bit of concern in the community about the sale.”
Ms Haylett said the centre was important to Kendall.
“The centre provides office facilities and internet access for residents. People come here to learn computer skills and we are a Centrelink access point,” Mrs Haylett said.
A second-hand book exchange also operates at the site.
So, is the Community Centre near the search area?
Interesting to hear about the optimal internet access (but FF had to drive to Kew, although his M-I-L had a close connection to the Comm. Centre?). Hmmm.
Didn’t the FF also fill a prescription? So obviously would have needed to make two stops if he utilized the internet access point at this location?
Also, as another member stated - perhaps the internet access provided was limited, maybe it was only for certain activities as it mentions it is used as a centerlink access point - maybe not for personal use or video links, or maybe he wanted to be in a more professional environment for the receivers of the call?
