Not to jump on the bandwagon here - but if LE were indeed responsible for BS media “fame”, wouldn’t he be attempting to sue them as well? Just a thought, I really have no idea how that sort of thing works

I don't think that being considered a POI is a cause for a claim?

A recent case that comes to mind is the Roseanne Catt (Beckett) case. She was prosecuted, found guilty and sentenced and served 10 years. The conviction was quashed, she was then able to sue for "Malicious Prosecution".
I'm not sure there is such a thing as "Malicious Suspicion", is there?

However, if the Police shared untrue information, therefore "slandered", this may be a good reason, however, the Police have yet to say anything on any POI/Suspect.

Ohh..and just on that. That case is also a good example of the Police being fallible. The streets are full of real perps and the prisons also hold plenty of innocent people as well.
Detectives too are mere mortals, whom can make mistakes and have misguided beliefs, albeit, with the best of intentions, such is the road to hell.

All MOO.

It was Col that provided the media with BS version of events. Not the police.
KL was asked to provide her bank statements.
BS provided his dna and a versions of events to various family members that do seem to have had some inconsistencies - from what I have read.

I still wonder about ..

However, Colin claimed he downloaded Mr Spedding’s bank statement, which showed a transaction at the cafe at about 10am on September 12.

Mr Spedding then went across the road to Laurieton Public School, where one of his grandchildren was receiving a principal’s award.

Earlier in the day, Mr Spedding also had some work in nearby Dunbogan, Colin said. Detectives visited the waterside hamlet on Wednesday and spoke with locals.

Spedding denies toddler involvement

I basically assume, that LE have an important reason to ask the media for publication (or NOT).

Yep, he was wearing a blue and red t-shirt underneath the suit in the "roar" photo

With the roar photo I’m sure there were many more photos taken that morning but I feel that one had to be used because the sisters face was hidden.

This thread became very derailed overnight and over 50 posts had to be unapproved.

After one or two posts discussing the lead investigator, the rest in that vein were removed because they were all related to refuting one member's personal opinion of GJ and really have little or nothing to do with William’s case.

Numerous posts were regarding WS technical issues. These also have nothing to do with William’s case. Such posts should be addressed to “Welcome to Websleuths #2” forum found here.

Posts discussing CS have been removed as that is considered sleuthing of family. We understand that new members don’t always know this until they familiarize themselves with The Rules so we cut them some slack in that regard. We do however expect that more veteran members would know this Rule and Alert on such info rather than perpetuate the discussion simply because they are intrigued with the information.

Thread is open again. Please abide by The Rules.

Definitely deals are often done. The media are often on scene not long after the LE arrive and see and hear a lot. I know of a very high profile murder many years ago where a camera man found the wallet of one of the perps at the scene. A great opportunity for an exclusive there when the case was cracked.

This morning while driving through the wentworthville area, I saw a large billboard sign for William, the first one I have ever seen!
The pressure is on!

msm tweet from jessica nagel june 26.....would that bushland be right behind fgms home?
Today marks William Tyrrell’s 7th birthday and almost two weeks since police commenced a new search in bushland near his grandmothers home in Kendall. Today SES are using whipper snippers in bushland below the home.

Shift in Tyrrell search

Kew and Lakewood - both was mentioned alternately in MSM, as I now remember.
And Kew is on the way to Lakewood.

I really wish that one of the journalists at any of the interviews given by Detective Jubelin had asked just how far does "family" extend. Are we talking immediate family or what?

It's curious to me BSs whereabouts that day. If he went to Dunboggan early in the morn, it would take approx 20 mins to get to kendall from there, or slightly less from Laurieton (if he didn't go to Dunboggan say). WT's FM thinks he was missing about 10.20-10.30. If BS was at the cafe in Laurieton at around 10, it would take him 15 mins to get to there from kendall, or 10 from Dunbogan, so he would have had to leave around 9.45 to get to the cafe. I can't see how this fits in with a 10.20 abduction. Not saying he can't be involved - as he has friends. I wonder why the police were so interested tho? A msn article says he told inconsistencies in his whereabouts in his statement to police. Perhaps if he left the cafe not long after 10, he could be in vicinity of WT's at around 10.20, if he skipped the presentation at the school. There must be some reason police thought his involvement was a possibility - or perhaps because they thought, at the time, he had links to a pedo ring, so if he was at the cafe & the school - his alabi is moot? JMO. I won't be surprised if he's not the one tho

IIRC he was reported as going to Dunbogan after having coffee at the Buzz Cafe and going to the school presentation. The visit to Dunbogan by BS was reported as occurring at around 2pm that afternoon.

That's all I recall too, but in the article Ailwa linked Colin does say that BS was at Dunbogan "earlier in the day", apparently meaning before the cafe visit. Perhaps that was the inconsistency in his alibi--first BS said or implied that he was at Dunbogan in the morning, and then he went back to police and corrected it to the afternoon.
