I don’t know about anyone else but if I was simply the neighbour of someone whose grandson had disappeared, it would give me the willies if I didn’t know why I was being called to give evidence at an inquest and had no idea why investigators wanted me to do that.

As for Savage, his lawyer would have access to the brief of evidence as soon as it’s made available to ‘interested persons/parties’ so that should make things crystal clear.
Imagine, you were him and you wouldn't know, who after 4 years with no incident would suddenly have ratted on you ....

Blokes can sometimes be a matter of fact like that.
True, but I’m used to those ‘blokes’ being police, forensic services, etc. Not civilians or, to put it more bluntly, innocent bystanders.

Exclusive: Paul Savage To Give Evidence At William Tyrell Inquest

Paul Savage has no idea why he has been called to give evidence at the inquest.

Believe it or not, this clip isnt available to SA yet!!

Obviously we have to wait a certain period of time after the newscast, and we're not at that point yet.

Oh, you are probably all off watching ACA now, aren't you??

The ACA clip is finished but hasn’t been uploaded yet AFAIK. I didn’t take notes but what was interesting was halfway through the interview with Simon Bouda just how hostile Savage became. Shades of Spedding and Jones.

I consider myself a pretty honest, decent person. But if I had ACA, springing out to me in the street whilst going about my daily business and not showing me due respect and continually bombarding me with questions, I think I could easily lose my s**t too! He was polite at first, though they kept upping the ante until he lost his cool. It's typical journalist tactics. Even an innocent, easy going person would lose their temper at these kind of viper! All current affairs journalists really are at the bottom of the food chain.

Yes and not sure how long since his wife died, Id imagine neighbours would be sick of people driving past, and reporters in your face.

Yeah, it’s a lot of pressure.

Makes you wonder what they said, doesn't it, to make him lose his cool? I notice they clipped that out.

Mr Savage has spoken with the media many times prior to this. Has given his comments, had photos taken, been the neighbourhood tell-all. He has never been agro with them before, that we have seen. Makes me think the ACA journo must have said something quite unnecessary.

Ps was a bit hostile, but who knows how long they tailed him before they got that reaction, he seemed calmer on the channel tens version.
The whole thing is very interesting, but if he is just a witness, I think the media should back off to not jeopardize anything for the inquest.
With all of the POI’s & witnesses we have seen the media pay close attatention too over the years it’s hard to find any possibility that William could still be alive in.

Nothing new. There was a younger man and lady with him, as he entered the Legal Aid building. The younger man looks like the spitting image of Mr Savage, but taller. There is footage of Mr Savage bringing his rubbish bins in, with a black lab running along in front of him.

Transcript for the O/S members ....

LEAD IN: A man who has been compelled to give evidence at the inquest of William Tyrrell has told 10 News First that he has no idea why. Paul Savage lives close to where the little boy vanished. We caught up with him at his lawyer’s office, as he prepares to be questioned by the Coroner.

JOURNO (voiceover): Paul Savage claims he doesn’t know why he is being called to give evidence at one of the country’s most anticipated inquests.

JOURNO: Do you know anything about what happened to William?
PS: No

JOURNO (voiceover): Two months before the Coroner hears all the evidence police have gathered about what might have happened to William Tyrrell, Savage visited his local Legal Aid office.

JOURNO: Are you here meeting with a lawyer?
PS: Nope

JOURNO (voiceover): Savage lives directly across the road from William’s foster grandmother’s house, in the small town of Kendall, where he vanished 4½ years ago. Now, it has been revealed that the man in his 70s will be compelled to appear at the inquest where the Coroner will investigate the abduction and probably murder.

JOURNO: Do you know why they want you to appear?
PS: No, got no idea.

JOURNO (voiceover): Savage refused to confirm whether or not he believes he is a person of interest in the case, and remained tight-lipped about his testimony.

JOURNO: What are you going to be saying at the inquest?
PS: I’ll find out in time, won’t I?

JOURNO (voiceover): At the first hearing here in December, Savage appeared by phone and told the court he would arrange to have a lawyer represent him when the Coroner begins hearing evidence in March.

JOURNO (voiceover): Another man who will be giving evidence is washing machine repairman Bill Spedding, who has been investigated as a person of interest in the case. Savage claims the two men have never met. (image of Spedding pushing a news camera away from him while he was in his van)

JOURNO: Have you ever met Bill Spedding?
PS: Off the cuff .. umm.. no, I don’t think so.

JOURNO (voiceover): Police hope what they do know, if anything, about this baffling case will be revealed in March. Lia Harris for Ten News First.

According to this article it was a fairly innocuous question that set Savage off, ie:

‘Although reluctant to talk, Mr Savage was initially calm but became agitated when asked whether he had previously confirmed he would attend the inquest.

"I don't remember that, get away with that bloody thing, mate," he said

"I don't need your rubbish."’
Tyrrell witness ‘doesn’t know’ why inquest called on him

He might be a bit forgetful or selectively perhaps.:)
Without having an answer prepared PS said he did not think he had met BS when asked. Curious how that answer may differ with some thought and planning.
However, he did say he remembers everything that happened that day.

Has PS late wife ever done an interview, was it ever mentioned whether she was home when William went missing?
